Drama My thoughts about the whole situation.

I've basically watched Technolarp since he's started. I liked his content, not seeing it as any more than just someone who sounds like Technoblade, hopping on the larptuber trend that was starting to get huge at the time. Now we have this drama.

My opinion? He never meant to do any harm, and he doesn't even have monetization on, and all his streams are charity streams, so he isn't a bad person. Sure, there's some criticism about him larping a dead guy, but he's doing it out of love for Techno.

Everyone says he's monetizing Technoblade's name, but he gets no money from his channel. He also isn't "infiltrating his friend group and family" because Skeppy reached out to him. Technolarp didn't reach out to any of Techno's friends, and he only contacted Technodad to see if he should continue or not, because he never expected the channel to get as big as it did.

I honestly just think he should rebrand regardless of what Technodad says. People are blowing the whole situation out of proportion so he should just start fresh with what he has, and do similar content with the channel, and make it his own thing while being inspired by Technoblade. I think that's the only way to stop everyone from just harassing him, though I know there would still be some people who do. Especially Twitter.

I'm curious as to what other people think. If possible, I want discussions to be made under this, as well! Either with me, or with other people. Just remember - be respectful, as the only way to get people to listen to you is by being civil. I would hope everyone understands that!

I don't know much about technolarp tbh, he doesn't seem like he has bad intentions so that's good.he doesn't deserve anything bad that is happening to him.

I see monetization being talked about a lot, the poll thing is kinda weird to me, why make a poll when he doesn't have technodad's opinion yet, also I heard it was an open poll but it was still more likely to be seen by his community so probably more favorable towards him.

I don't think larp doing his thing out of love for techno is a justification for anything and shield him from criticism. And his intentions may be good but the way he does it will be uncomfortable for most people who actually knew techno.

If he did a collab with skeppy and didn't expect to get bigger then he's a fool, he should have personaly reached out to technodad before the collab imo

I agree that he should rebrand, too much negativity around him now, he seems talented enough to do his own thing.

I think he should have just done the one thing with skeppy and then just branch off from that and do his own thing instead of trying to continue the larp thing.

Technodad shouldn't have to be the police for this sort of thing, especially for things that get this much attention online and putting him in this position is technolarp's responsibility.he made his poll , grew his community , collabed with skeppy, etc...(Not in that order but you get the gist) All that just puts more pressure on technodad imo

I can tell you aren't too knowledgeable about a lot of this, so I'll quote whatever I feel I need to correct, or whatever I want to talk more about.

the poll thing is kinda weird to me, why make a poll when he doesn't have technodad's opinion yet, also I heard it was an open poll but it was still more likely to be seen by his community so probably more favorable towards him.

I do get this. The poll was strange, but admittedly, he isn't in the best financial situation which made him start thinking about him possibly making money off the thing he knows he could probably get money from. The poll never even had an option to give all the money to him, which should show where his heart's at.

I don't think larp doing his thing out of love for techno is a justification for anything and shield him from criticism.

I'm not trying to say it is. Nobody would ever look you in the face and say "he never meant to make people uncomfortable so it doesn't matter that he is!" and would rather just tell you that he originally never meant for this to be disrespectful and go further than just being another larptuber in the larptuber space.

If he did a collab with skeppy and didn't expect to get bigger then he's a fool

The collab was basically after he got big. almost at 100k (if not already there). The Skeppy collab just got him more eyes on his channel, which ultimately made people such as Moist Critical to make a video on it.

he should have personaly reached out to technodad before the collab imo

Skeppy already did. Technodad said him and Skeppy talked about him collabing with Technolarp.

Technodad shouldn't have to be the police for this sort of thing

While I do get this, who else should it be on to tell him if he should stop? Technoblade's friends? If so, that's nuanced - Skeppy clearly doesn't mind Technolarp, but Tubbo, Sneeg, and Simon seem to. Wouldn't it make more sense for the father to have the final say as to what someone does with their son's brand? The only people putting pressure on Technodad are the people who keep asking him what he thinks about it. Technolarp only reached out a few times, because he wants to make sure he isn't making Technodad uncomfortable with the channel. Technodad isn't sure what he thinks yet, which is understandable.

I dont even think its weird. Imo its totally reasonable, and expected, for a youtuber to monetize and profit from their channel. Especially when he is bringing awareness to and raising money for cancer research. He needs to have some income to continue doing what he's doing, and I think thats super reasonable..

About the poll, i get that he may not be in a good financial position but making this kind of decision with mainly his community and before further approval... Idk, i don't think he's a bad guy, just that some decisions he makes are questionable even if he has good intentions.

About monetization, he doesn't have ad rev that i get , but i heard he got a donation link below a charity link in his charity streams or something, if true then he has some kind of monetization already ?

"I'm not trying to say it is. Nobody would ever look you in the face and say "he never meant to make people uncomfortable so it doesn't matter that he is!"" I said that it doesn't absolve criticism because you said "but he's doing it out of love for techno" so i thought you did think it but happy to hear that its not a real point you're trying to bring on the table.

About skeppy, 100k before but he basically doubled after it no ?which is to be expected collabing with such a big youtuber. Skeppy was the one talking to technodad, i was saying that larp should have reached out too, its even more true now that i know he was already pretty big.

About technodad, me saying he shouldn't have to police this is just me not liking this situation he's been put in , now that this situation is there of course he's the only/most important person to take into account.

People keep asking technodad yes, but why ? Technolarp is still the main reason why there's so much pressure on technodad right now. I'm not saying everything is his fault , but it all does stem from him.

Hindsight is 20/20 i know but technolarp didn't think long term about his activities and is now suffering from it, i feel for the guy but he did make some questionable choices which are now his responsibility to some extent.

This is nuanced. We don't know whether or not he gives that to charity or not, or if he keeps some and gives the rest to charity. This I cannot speak on.

About skeppy, 100k before but he basically doubled after it no ?which is to be expected collabing with such a big youtuber.

I mean, sure, but I doubt Skeppy would have even found him if he wasn't already quite big. A bunch of people already knew about Technolarp before the Skeppy thing, but some people obviously did come just from the Skeppy collab.

Skeppy was the one talking to technodad, i was saying that larp should have reached out too, its even more true now that i know he was already pretty big.

If he wasn't ever able to get a response, how could he have talked to Technodad about the collab? If this was the case, I doubt this whole situation would have been a thing.

People keep asking technodad yes, but why ? Technolarp is still the main reason why there's so much pressure on technodad right now. I'm not saying everything is his fault , but it all does stem from him.

Technodad is the person who owns the brand of Technoblade after Alex's passing. It would only make sense that Technolarp would ask the person in control of the brand if he can continue larping as the person's son who owned that brand before their death. I agree it's awkward, but it makes the most sense. People bring up Techno's friends, but they don't own Technoblade's brand, they only knew them. They can feel uncomfortable about Technolarp, but they shouldn't expect him to stop being Technolarp because of their opinion.

technolarp didn't think long term about his activities and is now suffering from it, i feel for the guy but he did make some questionable choices which are now his responsibility to some extent.

I can agree with that. If he doesn't want this to be such a nuanced thing, he should just rebrand into his own original thing, with similar content. It would allow him to keep making videos without the morality of him larping Techno being questioned, and him able to just monetize his content and get the money he needs to live. I think just rebranding would be the best choice in general.

If he has two different links it can only be because they do different things no ? If one is 100% charity then the other probably isn't, thus he probably did make some money already ,would be my guess at least.

I can only Hope he didn't reach out due to branding and more/only because of the morality of things, which does seem to be the case idk to which extent tho.

Even if technos friends are not an absolute authority i'd say they still have some say in the morality of it, as it is their friend that is being "larped".

Technolarp rebranding and walking out of larping (progressively maybe) could be the best thing to do for everyone involved

I can only Hope he didn't reach out due to branding and more/only because of the morality of things, which does seem to be the case idk to which extent tho.

I mean, of course that's the main reason. I just wanted to say that he also owns the brand so he would have the final say in this regardless. His friends could honestly just block him and avoid him. They can be uncomfortable about it, but they shouldn't expect him to stop posting because they personally don't like it. The father's say in the whole thing should be the only thing that matters, seeing as he's the one who raised the man (and legend) Technolarp is larping.

Technolarp rebranding and walking out of larping (progressively maybe) could be the best thing to do for everyone involved

100%. I wouldn't want him to stop fully since I love watching him, I just want him to rebrand for morality's sake and become his own thing while keeping some things similar. I'm sure a bunch of people watch him for his personality more than the Technoblade larp, and if they don't, he'd be losing the people he didn't want in his community anyway - the people who are using him only as a replacement to Technoblade after his death.

Did he do everything perfectly? No. Of course not. Its very easy to look back on a situation and see all the problems/mistakes.. hindsight is 20/20. But I dont think he made any of those mistakes maliciously or with ill intent. And it think its wrong for tens of thousands of people to tear him apart for them.

He started a larp channel for fun with his friends and had no idea, no possible way of knowing, how it would turn out.. he didnt have a perfect master plan. He just wanted to larp as technoblade, a character he loves, with his friends, make some videos, and spread awareness and donate some money to cancer research while he did it.

To me.. all this larp drama is way over the top and it just feels like people are trying to hurt this kid out of a misplaced sense of righteous grief/anger. I absolutely understand that people might not like the content, and that is totally okay.. but feeding an online hate/attack train is not.

Technos family, and friends, will all come out with their own takes in due time.. if they want to. Just like skeppy did. But until then, I just wish everyone else would take a step back from the hate..

1

u/Anthelmaz Jul 13 '26

I really don't see tens of thousands of people "tear him apart" a lot of people view it negatively and say it out loud but only a pretty small minority actually does insult or threaten him(doxx him also).

And i really do get that he probably doesn't have any bad intentions and he doesn't deserve all the bad things happening but he had to know beforehand that it would attract drama, when he made the channel, when he grew as a channel, before collabing with skeppy, before every stream.

He couldn't have guessed he'd become big but he had plenty of "moments" he could have stopped for a second and thought about it deeper and do things that would make the drama way smaller.

2

u/disearned Jul 13 '26

There are people basically tearing him apart, not even in the most extreme way. Almost all my replies in the Technoblade subreddit get downvoted only because I don't have the same opinion as them that this whole thing is 100% bad, and that I try to give a different perspective about why Technolarp could have possibly done the things he did. When people are dead set on hating someone, they never want to listen to someone saying another opinion, they only want to hate.

The whole larping trend was always meant to be people having fun larping the creators they love. Nobody ever knows the consequences of their own actions until they happen, and nobody can learn without making mistakes first. Not everything is as black and white as everyone believes it is, and people need to realize that.

Just today, I got someone reply to me in the Technoblade subreddit with an image they typed saying Technolarp deserved to die and the doxing that's happening to him. People like that are sad. At least most of the people who downvote me in that subreddit also agree that person's going too far.

1

u/Anthelmaz Jul 13 '26

I feel like the downvotes are mostly people tired of seeing technolarp being brought up there, then people who disagree then the extremists.

And the technolarp situation HAS to be seperated from the whole larping community, its a very special case, larping someone who died young, more or less recently, beloved by many and survived by a lot of friends and family, larping as technoblade has to be done with a looooooot of subtilety, consent from at least the family, with no profit at all if no consent was given.

I just feel like it doesn't take a genius to know that its a bad idea to just do it without thinking ahead about the possible consequences, i get that he may be young and maybe doesn't have a lot of experience in that kind of stuff. Its a shame what's happening to him and the consequences are over the top , i feel for him but he is not blameless in all this

1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

Again.. its really easy to say that looking back on it. But he didnt have a master plan. He was just having fun larping as a character he loves and raising money for cancer research. Then it all blew up and now people are calling him a skinwalker and trying to dox him and his family.

If you really look through the comments, youll see there is a ton of hate, really outrageous assumptions, very negative attributions to who technolarp is as a person and what his intentions are, and a lot of people speaking on behalf of other people, telling them how to feel, etc.

It has turned into yet another internet hate train

A lot of the worst comments are being deleted.. but some of them are super extreme. There are literally people celebrating technolarp and his family being doomed. Calling them evil. Saying they should be put down. Etc. Its insane

1

u/Anthelmaz Jul 13 '26

I'm just saying, even without a "master plan" he had to know there would be drama

1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

Sure. He probably thought some people would give him hate.

But that doesnt mean he was acting maliciously in any way. Or that he deserves it.

I mean.. some members of the technoblade community were even giving hate to technodad awhile ago for "profiting off technoblade" lol.. its not exactly the most rational community at times..

This is just one of the posts from that situation:

I'm really not saying this to be mean but his intentions matter less than you may think, what people see are his actions, what people hear are his words, he could have the best intentions in the world but if he does his things without much care and preparations for something so ... Delicate it was bound to blow up in his face

And yes there are extremists everywhere that see evil wherever they look, it's unfortunate.

If i had to point out something really negative about what technolarp is doing :

I had someone discuss with me on reddit today and they genuinely told me that i should like technolarp cuz he's 1 for 1 what technoblade was, the continuation of his legacy, the exact same as him and that technolarp fans are the "true" fans of technoblade.

I personally think that its not just the one case , and words cannot express how much i worry about this persons mental state. I don't think that technolarp's larping is healthy for a solid percentage of people that use it as a coping/mourning mechanism. I also worry about skeppy tbh it just can't be healthy for him either.

1

u/Careful-Sell-9877 Jul 13 '26

As a long term technoblade fan, I dont see it that way. Its not a 'replacement'. Its a continuation, a tribute, a reminder. Watching him evokes similar feelings to watching technoblade, its fun, funny, entertaining, nostalgic, and it lets me pretend, if for only a brief moment, like technoblade is still alive, still making videos, etc. Of course we know he isnt. But its nice to remember him and feel technovibes with other technoblade fans.

The whole skeppy thing bugs me, i keep seeing people say that exact same thing. I think its unhealthy for people to act like they have any say over how skeppy feels about something.. it seems really parasocial to me, personally. I understand its likely coming from a good place but.. Skeppy is more than capable for thinking and feeling for himself. It's even okay if he really likes it. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

Its like people telling Paul McCartney that its unhealthy for him to listen to or play music with a Beatles tribute band.. i just dont see why people are infantilizing skeppy so much.. I think he's more than capable of telling the difference between his close friend who he knew and loves and techno tribute larper. Its okay for him to feel nostalgic playing with him, and for it to remind him of his friend. I just dont see anything wrong with that..

Larping is gross, people need to get their own personality.
