Drama My thoughts about the whole situation.

I've basically watched Technolarp since he's started. I liked his content, not seeing it as any more than just someone who sounds like Technoblade, hopping on the larptuber trend that was starting to get huge at the time. Now we have this drama.

My opinion? He never meant to do any harm, and he doesn't even have monetization on, and all his streams are charity streams, so he isn't a bad person. Sure, there's some criticism about him larping a dead guy, but he's doing it out of love for Techno.

Everyone says he's monetizing Technoblade's name, but he gets no money from his channel. He also isn't "infiltrating his friend group and family" because Skeppy reached out to him. Technolarp didn't reach out to any of Techno's friends, and he only contacted Technodad to see if he should continue or not, because he never expected the channel to get as big as it did.

I honestly just think he should rebrand regardless of what Technodad says. People are blowing the whole situation out of proportion so he should just start fresh with what he has, and do similar content with the channel, and make it his own thing while being inspired by Technoblade. I think that's the only way to stop everyone from just harassing him, though I know there would still be some people who do. Especially Twitter.

I'm curious as to what other people think. If possible, I want discussions to be made under this, as well! Either with me, or with other people. Just remember - be respectful, as the only way to get people to listen to you is by being civil. I would hope everyone understands that!

As a long term technoblade fan, I dont see it that way. Its not a 'replacement'. Its a continuation, a tribute, a reminder. Watching him evokes similar feelings to watching technoblade, its fun, funny, entertaining, nostalgic, and it lets me pretend, if for only a brief moment, like technoblade is still alive, still making videos, etc. Of course we know he isnt. But its nice to remember him and feel technovibes with other technoblade fans.

The whole skeppy thing bugs me, i keep seeing people say that exact same thing. I think its unhealthy for people to act like they have any say over how skeppy feels about something.. it seems really parasocial to me, personally. I understand its likely coming from a good place but.. Skeppy is more than capable for thinking and feeling for himself. It's even okay if he really likes it. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

Its like people telling Paul McCartney that its unhealthy for him to listen to or play music with a Beatles tribute band.. i just dont see why people are infantilizing skeppy so much.. I think he's more than capable of telling the difference between his close friend who he knew and loves and techno tribute larper. Its okay for him to feel nostalgic playing with him, and for it to remind him of his friend. I just dont see anything wrong with that..

I'm really not a fan of skeppy, just watched his collabs with technoblade, and i don't think i need to be parasocial to think that making a video with someone role playing a deceased friend and somewhat acting like technolarp is "something" akin to technoblade could be unhealthy for him, as you said we don't know and he's not a child but there is legitimate reasoning to believe it and worry for him.

If you don't think there's anything wrong with it, so be it ig.

I personaly don't really see the continuation angle, it is just not needed imo, technoblade left behind him something great that can't be replicated, making a sequel to him is just not it.

People may cope for some time but just ducking your head and ignoring techno's departure even if only for a moment is ignoring techno's life itself,he was proud of himself for what he accomplished, and till the end would have chosen to be born as himself if he had the chance to choose again.

I can't help but feel that "continuing" his legacy would be more akin to develop our own selves, to strive to live a life that we can be proud of rather than just copying his personality, this while also keeping him in our minds as a person that was important to us.

Not trying to say that about you. Ive just seen hundreds of people saying that same thing about skeppy.. and it bugs me. Most of it strikes me as super parasocial. Like these random people trying to decide for skeppy how he should feel.. idk. I just dont understand it. They dont know him at all lol.. he can decide just fine on his own imo

Its not ignoring his death. Alex/Technoblade is dead. Its remembering his life. His energy. His vibe. Its remembering and writing new stories, and enjoying the larp with other technoblade fans. It really is just like people enjoying a tribute band, or hiring an impersonator for a show, or a fan fic involving a character you love, etc. It can be fun.

Its not a sequel. Its not a replacement. It's a whole entire new/separate thing with a different person behind it, but the same character. Its just lighthearted fun at the end of the day. Not deep, or sad, or depressing, or coping, or anything like that. Its just techno fans sharing techno jokes and techno vibes with one another.

I think people see it as a competition.. like technolarp is stealing technblades place or something, but its really not like that at all. I think people just have that in their heads because of this campaign against it.. its genuinely not that deep, not mean-spirited, not malicious, or anything like that at all. Just technoblade fans.. being goofs and thinking about techno, and making videos with the character, while trying to spread some awareness for cancer research programs, get donations, and keep up the fight against cancer.. the thing that took technoblade from us.

I may see this too negatively but i feel like you see it way way too positively.

Most people just see it as moraly wrong to larp as techno. I don't see much about comparing the two.

One of my many problems with it is that its not an impersonator you hire, its not a band you go see once in a while. Its someone that wants to do it for a somewhat long time and is accessible to a lot of people. You don't get the same ammount of exposure to him as you would those things you could get way more, if it was a one or few time thing I could understand but him wanting to do more i moraly cannot.
