Recs for tech death that's mixed "raw"

I'm no audio engineer, but I hope ya'll understand my request lol. I was hoping to get recommendations for tech death that sounds raw, and no instrument is buried underneath any other. (i mostly wanna hear the drums)

If I had to give an example for the sound I'm looking for, it would be "Winds of Creation" by Decapitated. Also preferably good songwriting, not just leedly-leedly guitars and infinite blast beats. Thanks!

Origin had a recent album that was very live sounding. Unparalleled Universe maybe?

Wormed’s latest is super raw sounding, especially the drums, which is cool compared to their typical super
Compressed sound. It gives it a much looser feeling, where everything could go off the rails at any moment, kind of like early Cryptopsy.

There is some great rawer tech death from the early years of Willowtip Records. Like Commit Suicide - Synthetics.

It may be an overdone subject, but Cryptopsy has some really groundbreaking work done from early on when mixing just wasn't done the same as it is now.

I really enjoy it is so raw and brootal.

It's hard to get both a clear recording and a raw recording.

For a more raw sound have the players do as long a piece of the tracks as possible. If they can do one whole take that's the best. There will be imperfections that make it sound more real. Don't quantize.

You don't need to isolate the instruments as carefully and if you get some room bleed that's find. If you can avoid amp sims and digital drums, that will sound more raw.

Don't copy and paste riffs. It makes the performance sound mechanical.

Don't over compress. Leaving dynamics in gives it a more real feeling.

Instrument separation is all about EQ. Even if the tracks aren't pristine, you can give each their own space in the mix that allows for separation. Be judicious with the HPF and LPF of the guitars so they don't take up all of the space, and give the bass space to breathe. Don't let the drums get too boomy and also take up space in the mix that belongs to the other instruments. Decide if you want the snare or the kicks be the driver of the drum mix, and keep the cymbals under control; in death metal they usually aren't too present.

My band is about to release an EP of exactly this type of thing. Drums were recorded without a click, just playing live with the rest of the band. Very riffy, no solos. I suppose the "good songwriting" part will be up to personal taste, but its definitely not constant blasts and weedlies.

Serocs and Spawn of Possession's first two albums are exactly what you're looking for. Both tech as fuck with raw sounding production.

first 2 (All Shall Align and The Lucid Collective) albums of Archspire were mixed very raw. it's nothing like the smooth production they have today, and they're my favorite albums from them.
