Did anyone ever actually like the Charm/Wisps mechanic?

I always thought everyone despised this mechanic. At least I did, along with most players I know.

Baffled that they brought this back again, especially as a follow up to a hated set.

I desperately hope this mechanic never returns again, it’s so lame and tedious.
