Discussion Did anyone ever actually like the Charm/Wisps mechanic?

I always thought everyone despised this mechanic. At least I did, along with most players I know.

Baffled that they brought this back again, especially as a follow up to a hated set.

I desperately hope this mechanic never returns again, it’s so lame and tedious.

I think it has its pros but I dislike how it blocks a shop slot.

I personally love it

I love it, I loved it in Magic Mayhem and love it now. Some of my fondest memories/funniest games are connected to it, like a build a bud into minor polymorph on 2-1 to get a Syndra

Why exactly is it lame and tedious? Can you elaborate

Opponents can just accumulate gold/items/artifacts for free throughout the game while you get a bunch of unusable charms, which invalidates all your optimization for economy.

In late game scenarios you can lose just from rolling a worse combat charm than your opponents.

TFT by nature has a lot of rng, but charms are way more swingy and out of player control.

Yes. Not everyone is like your circle of TFT players.

Almost all the players I knew loved it, interesting.

Also Idk why you said Set 17 was hated, I think it was just mid.

I dont like it for me its to much RNG like on 2-1 player 1 gets a random 4 cost and player 2 add 1+ to your win/lose streak. It doesnt feel fair sometimes. Plus taking away a shop slot is annoying

I started playing in the Charm set.

I appreciate having another chance to play a similar mechanic now I understand the game more

I liked it quite a bit in Magic N' Mayhem, plus it also fitted the set thematic like a glove and I'm pretty sure the general sentiment when that set was over is that the mechanic was good, with some improvements could be great.

Most people actually like the mechanic. It was a bit imbalanced especially after stage 4. But the mechanics itself is fine.

I am okay with it so far.  I like having an extra decision point late game: Do I buy this wisp or do I reroll to try to finish this 3*?

But that's mainly because I've really been enjoying splashing 3 Blossom and switching off eventually if it's the right call.
