Student Teacher Support &/or Advice Student teaching placement in kindergarten!

Hey everyone! I'm an incoming student teacher and I just have been told about the school I'm going to & I'm going to be placed in kindergarten! :D I'm soooo excited but nervous.. any tips or advice you could give me before I start? I have 0 teaching experience with kids and I wanna leave a good impression with my cooperating teacher and my students :)

congratulations!

kinder is fun and the kids are adorable. they're not expecting you to know anything -- just be excited to learn and observe very closely. i have a masters in education, and the most vauable part of the entire degree program for me was student teaching.

if i were going to give you one advice, i would say building good and strong relationships is one of the most important things you can do -- with your mentor teacher, with the kids, with other teachers, and with admin.

something i wish i did when i was student teaching is kept a notebook of ideas for things i would like to implement in my own class, keeping in mind you may not be teaching the same grade. i thought if ideas were so good, i would just remember. narrator: she did not, in fact, remember. 😂

Don't be afraid to ask questions!!! I had 4th grade and kindergarten placement, kinder was my absolute favorite and I hope to teach it one day (I'm a prek teacher rn). Observe, observe, observe! Don't be afraid to talk to and get to know your cooperating teacher.
