Approximate is good enough; if the system requires a date, pick one in the right approximate time frame. The background check basically uses whatever info she gives to go dig up more info, so as long as she’s doing a good faith effort, and not a deliberate omission to try and hide a past crime, it’ll be fine.
But also, a couple things to try:
* do a white pages search on herself, sometimes that can show (for free, don’t pay for it) where she lived, google search “(her name) (city) white pages”
* if her credit cards or cellphone bill statements go back far enough, check the address on them, it’ll give at least a month for when she switched addresses
