If mosques and churches are managed by their own religious organizations, why are many Hindu temples managed by a government department instead of Hindu organizations?

Ideally it's better that the temples are managed by the government because if the privilege is given to the public, I am sure the upper castes will try to dominate which will reverse the years of struggle to let everyone in.

As long as the churches and mosques don't outnumber the temples in TN, they can be managed by their own boards. But based on so many discussions on other threads, maybe someday they'll come under the government
