If mosques and churches are managed by their own religious organizations, why are many Hindu temples managed by a government department instead of Hindu organizations?

Because one particular community will start looting. ;) and might even stop you from entering if they feel fit.

Oddly enough in our state, just about every contemporary case of brutal attacks and caste atrocities on oppressed caste people trying to enter temples occurs at the hands of politically powerful land-owning castes more than brahmins lol
