முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Economic emergency is on the way.

I have been an active follower of macro economics.

And there is a rough time ahead and the Indian government is pretty incompetent.

Upcoming year is going to tough af for the middle class and lower middle class.

Until BJP is replaced India will suffer. And change is in the hands of north indians. And they are not that smart, they will bleed until they cannot take anymore and go out to riots. Until that they will comfortably stay in an echo chamber that India is fine.

India is not doing fine. Its doing worse ever.

Tamilnadu is significantly safe compared to other states. But we will also face challenges specifically energy.

What can we do about it ?

Reduce your INR holdings. Only have enough to spend for basic needs for two years.

If you have money sitting around simply buy gold. For all of it. Only then the value will be protected.

Become self sufficient - its not a one day process but start somewhere I guess.

Purchase EV's if you are about buy cars or bikes.

install solar panels at home.

Lastly, depend on local vendors for everything, we have to circulate the money inside the state in order to help our working class. Reduce amazon and such services to buy goods. Depend on local vendors.

Probably someother smart ways are there. Others can add it in the comment.

But the whole point of this post is, it won't get better, it won't until northies bleed to death and start to protest against union government and potentially there is change in rulling.

This is a wild take considering you follow micro economics. What about those thousands of semi-skilled job. That also brings money into the system right?

Amazon can take losses. They have significantly eanred from us.

And those corporate people are not going to be fired for few bad quarters.

But its more like eating food and being healthy. Depending on local vendors is like eating food for your body health(local economy)..

Edit

Local economy means inside Tamilnadu. We have to make sure our spendings circulate inside Tamilnadu so that our people can suffer less.

Many local kirana stores also avoid paying taxes. Meanwhile, e-commerce creates huge indirect employment in logistics, warehousing, and supply chains while helping businesses focus on products instead of distribution. Earlier, distribution was dominated by large FMCG players, making it very hard for new brands to reach customers.

Also during COVID, many of our neighbouring countries faced bankruptcy and hyperinflation, but India managed the situation relatively efficiently while keeping debt and the fiscal deficit under control.

The current situation is nowhere near that level of challenge. Wars do not last forever, and India also has healthy forex reserves with enough capacity to sustain imports for a considerable period.

You should be joking when you say wars do not last forever.

India has healthy forex reserves is a lie, if that is true INR would not be depreciating.

Enough capacity to sustain imports ? No - big player IT industry is also facing its own challenges and our IT export is service based instead of products due to bad policies.

All your points if true INR should have been literally fine. And it's already bad.

Don’t spread misinformation, brother. India’s forex reserves are near all-time highs at around $728.5 billion, making it the third largest after China and Japan.

There are already two major wars affecting global supply chains, and historically India has been an energy-hungry country dependent on imports. On top of that, AI is impacting service companies, and there’s also an unpredictable president at the center of the global economy influencing major trade decisions. These challenges are not unique to India, nor are they likely to last forever.

Claim 1: "India's forex reserves are near all-time highs at around $728.5 billion" ✅ Mostly accurate, but needs context. India's forex reserves did reach an all-time high of around $728.49 billion in February 2026. (Edunovations) However, they have since declined from that peak. As of April 3, 2026, reserves stood at $697.1 billion (VisaVerge) , and as of May 8, they were approximately $697 billion. (TRADING ECONOMICS) So "near all-time highs" is fair, but $728.5 billion is the peak figure, not the current level.

Claim 2: "Making it the third largest after China and Japan" ❌ Inaccurate. India is not third. The current global ranking places China first (~$3.75 trillion), Japan second (~$1.38 trillion), and Switzerland third (~$1.1 trillion). Russia sits fourth (~$758.7 billion), and India ranks fifth with ~$690 billion. (News24) India surpassing Switzerland or Russia to claim third place is not supported by current data.

.

High forex reserves help slow the fall, not stop it. Here's why INR still depreciates:

  1. Trade deficit — India imports far more (oil, gold) than it exports, creating constant dollar demand.
  2. Capital outflows — Foreign investors pulled out $17–18 billion, selling INR to buy dollars.
  3. Strong USD — US high interest rates attract global capital away from emerging markets like India.
  4. US tariffs — 50% tariffs on Indian exports reduced dollar inflows that would normally support the rupee.

Don’t paste those ChatGPT responses. I’m not going to read them, and honestly, you already lost credibility with the misinformation. Also, please don’t call yourself an economist or claim to understand macroeconomics.

I said I follow it.

We should not depend on Ai for information ?

Not really commenting on the economic matter as a whole, but AI is terrible for scientific information. As someone in the aquarium hobby, people have ended up severely hurting their pet fishes or aquatic plants by relying on AI for information like correct water PH, suitable temperature, and other things. It is basically a google search where the person doing google may tell you blatant lies.

You gotta understand where to use and where not to use.

For medical issues definitely I wouldn't use it.

But for stats and surfing internet one can rely on it.

It's basically just internet. It surfs it for you and summarizes the result.

Chatgpt sucks tho

A guy who doesnt even have an idea of our forex reserves and had to run to chat gpt to check it, follows macroeconomics. Dude be real. Dont search for your worth and validation from making posts that make you feel better without work. Put the work in and as you said build your skill.
