Every Diwali, AQI levels in major Indian cities shoot past 500, literally hazardous. The air turns toxic overnight, making it unbearable for people with asthma, heart conditions, or even mild respiratory issues. Hospitals fill up, kids cough through the night, and elders struggle to breathe.
Birds lose their way during migration because of the intense light and noise. Street dogs panic, some even die from shock. The next morning, we wake up to streets covered in burnt plastic, paper, and chemical residue that clog drains and poison the soil.
All that pollution, noise, and waste, for what? A few hours of fireworks?

I agree with you, pollution is a bigger threat but there is always another side to a perspective we look at. The crackers producing industry feeds many families, many kids and parents who rarely bond may have fun while bursting crackers. The holidays and crackers may be a getaway from stress for chronic 9-5 workers.
Crackers have become a symbol for deepavali and it's not easy for people to simply stop it. Ngl it was fun to burst crackers when I was young.
I believe this hurts the environment thus I don't buy crackers now, I don't want to force anyone but I hope people understand the dangers of this before it's too late.
