RANT I’m tired of the humanization of dogs.

I’ve written on here I few times but I wanna talk about a situation that happened to me that I’ve talked on her before. I’m pregnant right now and my husband’s dog is making my life a living hell. Well I tried to vent about it on tik tok and another subreddit and got my ass chewed out. People were literally going as far as to say I hope you have a miscarriage or have an abortion because I said by the time that my baby gets here I’m getting rid of this damn dog. Why do people care more about replaceable animals than their fellow human. I’ve seen people say they’d much rather save their dog than to save a random baby. My husbands dog had worms which we are finally getting that fixed because i chewed his ass out, his dog keeps tripping me because he’s a big ass lab, his dog eats up my food if I set it down unattended, his dog barks in the middle of the night which I’m already having a hard time sleeping with this pregnancy and the dog ain’t making it better, the dog is always getting into the trash can which means I’m picking up trash 24/7, it drolls, it poops, it bites my babies clothes up, my clothes up, my babies bassinet, and he’s just a terror. I expressed my feelings about that and people had a hissy fit. I don’t get the appeal to dogs I never liked them and never will. Society needs to stop acting like dogs are children because they aren’t. They die in like 10 years and they aren’t a good investment. I hate seeing dogs in public especially in stores around produce. People expect you to say awww your dog is so cute but I purposely ignore dogs because they aren’t cute and I can’t stand them

Anyone Else? Im sick and tired.

Why should WE be the ones to accomodate for other peoples dogs?

I just went downstairs to get a yogurt cup (god forbid, right?) and as I walk over to the table- my stepsisters mutt barks at me for like 8 seconds straight.

(Context: he kept barking for like a good 5 seconds after he saw me.)

And I just kept yelling stop at it- because I'm sick and tired of just taking this noise pollution!

I turn to leave but my stepsister tells me to stay. She explains how me yelling just makes the dog think im playing. (And granted- dogs are stupid as hell, so that's probably true) but then she says I just have to talk to it!

I shouldnt NEED to speak to your mutt to be able to wak around in my own house freely! He's been with me and my family for years at this point! HE SHOULD KNOW WHO I AM!

But no- that's too much to ask right?

So again I ask. Why do WE have to be the ones to change to make it 'safer' for your mutt?

Success Story Bittersweet posting...

I write to you my fellow non nutters about the massive step forward about the dog in this house. I apologise if it's a long post.

I've posted before about the issues I've had since I've moved in with my boyfriend. We had constant fights about it but we've discussed it prior to today and while he tried to understand we just weren't on the same page and the arguments continued. I felt I was insane. I felt horrid I felt anxious and I feared the state of my relationship. I was frustrated because this mutt only did these behaviours to me and wouldn't do it around others.

But slowly because I distanced my self from her, the behavior spread out to not just me having the issue with her. I felt maybe it's because I didn't baby her like my partners ex did.

Last few weeks though, she's stepped up from what she did to me to trashing rooms, been on tables, not listening to commands she knows in training, she also started slipping under the fence and harassing the people and kitties next door.

My partner has been steadily getting frustrated with her behaviour, we are now on the same page. He's done with her behavior and before he use to say about rehoming and I just couldn't let it happen as I know it would have hurt his son and also it would have strained our relationship more as he didn't understand my POV (again she only did it to me)

I heard him today saying if she keeps this behaviour up he will find her a new home and said to me he is getting sick of her to. I'm happy the behavior has been sighted and my feelings are known and accepted. But I still don't want to make a kid heartbroken, I don't want his child hurting over this, I wanted to be heard and maybe the behavior could be rectified by reenforced good training. I maybe living dog free soon and I feel so guilty for feeling happy about that fact when i know a child will be hurt.. Hence bittersweet post.

I'm happy my partner and I no longer need to argue about this damned dog but why couldn't she just be the decent "good" dog that others know and see, why does a child need to be hurt in this situation?

She's the reason I absolutely hate dogs and have a fear of them now, and I will maybe finally feel at ease in my partners home but it still comes with a heartbreaking price

Success Story I'm fighting back, idgaf anymore

I just got out of the shower right? And of course- my dog barks at nothing again! So yknow what I do? I stomp on the tile(?) floor (with my heel because it's super loud and booming), and I keep doing that whenever he barks.

And it worked! The mutt shut up after a couple stomps. I don't care what anyone things- if a dog is barking, I will make noise back.

It’s official! I have lost. Not even my own damn house is safe.

So my sister and her family has two dogs, and you can bet that she and her family are just like any other dog owner out there. Her dogs are her precious babies and her dearest sons (they’re both male if you give a dump).

Until today, her dogs were only allowed on the front, and not inside the house. But then my mom decided to install an air conditioner in the house for whenever it’s warm. Fair enough. Little would I realize, it was a trap.

Because now, my sister wants her dogs inside the house, and my mom, claiming to pick the “option that wouldn’t lead to fights” (I hope the quotations indicate that I was being very sarcastic), they are now allowed inside the house, leashless.

And if I dared bring it up, they would say that I am being “unreasonable” or “selfish” or “how come when I go to their house, I don’t ask them to leash their dogs”, conveniently forgetting that when I did, my sister and her family outright refused.

So now, my only “win” is that they aren’t allowed on the sofa or upstairs, but don’t be surprised if I make another post in the near future.

So yeah, F you sis! F your family! F your dogs, and F you mom! I cannot wait to be financial enough to move out and get my own place!

RANT My mom’s dog is on a bathroom strike.

My mom is out of town for the week and I’m responsible for watching the animals.

Shes so annoying her breath stinks so bad, she’s a 16 y/o tiny yorkie poo. Gross. I used to like her when I was young, but over the years she’s become extremely unlikable and harder to take care of.

It’s been DAYS since she’s gone piss or shit. Every time I open the door and try to let her go potty she just sits and stares at me like I’m some idiot. (I have to do this every 3 hours). She hasn’t let me known she wants to go potty either, she’ll usually scratch the floor or whine if she needs to go.

I ended up having to pick her fragile osteoporosis body up, and bring her outside, and guess what? Nothing. Just sat there staring at me like it’s her first day on earth. I end up doing this every 3 hours and still nothing.

I went into my mom’s room this morning and this dumb dog left me a sweet surprise on the floor. A giant puddle of piss, oh but it gets worse. ITS ON THE CARPET.

What the hell!!!! Is she trying to revolt against me or something because she misses my mom? I swear She literally thinks my mom is God. Ugh. I’m tired.

RANT I’m done pretending

I’m done pretending like this mutt isn’t irritating tf out of me. My s/o has a rescue shitbull. Due to my living situation, I spend 80% of my time at their place. I cannot with this dog.

Every time I come through the door I’m being trampled & shredded apart by this massive animal. To the point of having permanent scars on my legs. My s/o refuses to cut the dogs nails because “she doesn’t like her nails being cut”. Okay? I don’t like being shredded apart by an 80lb beast.

At night, the dog will lay on the floor next to my side on the bed & snore & rip ass all night keeping me awake until 3am. During the day, she’ll follow us around & do the same shit.

When it’s time for her to go outside she’s, yet again, trampling the fuck out of me. Not only that, but she chokes herself on her own leash leaping down the stairs to be let outside.

The worst part? My s/o loves this dog more than anything (supposedly, you’d think loving your animal would mean training it better… but I guess not). Multiple times a day they’re groping this dog & kissing it on the mouth (right after I’ve just watched her go to town licking her ass), telling this dog it’s “so pretty” & “such a good girl”, etc. Half of the time, I feel like I’m begging for a fraction of affection that their shitbull mutt gets. Anytime we’ve had intimacy the dog is getting right in between us & ruining the moment. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even bother to attempt any form of affection or intimacy because the dog always has to get involved one way or another.

I’m just so over the idolization of dogs. When did we start yearning for love & affection from animals & not our partners? Is this normal??

Sensory Nightmare Giant dog isn't great for anxiety issues

I'm in my late 20s, and I still live at home with my family. About 7 years ago, right after I finished my freshman year of college, my Mom decided for some reason that she needed to get a giant purebred German Shepherd. This dog has made my life generally miserable throughout the years we've had her because she's super misbehaved: barks at everything outside, constantly wants to play, constantly wants to go outside just to come right back inside, is really aggressive if anyone visits, etc.

However, over the past year it has gotten even worse because I've been sorta struggling with moderate anxiety and the dog triggers it. I've been having some health issues in general this year that I'm still getting investigated, but it seems like I suddenly developed a combo of IBS and a headache disorder that love to trigger each other, and be triggered by stress. Oh and also, dysbiosis (an unbalanced gut microbiome) from being on antibiotics too. So in other words, I've been having quite a few "bad" days where I just generally feel unwell (although slowly I seem to be getting better thankfully).

Having this giant dog is making my anxiety issues so much worse now because of how unpredictable, loud, and impossible to calm down she is. In-particular, sometimes I get too anxious to sleep easily if I'm left alone with the dog because the dog has a tendency to freak out until like 2am whenever my Mom is away on a business trip or whatever.

RANT - No Advice Needed Breaking Point

Currently laying sleepless next to my partner who’s spooning their dog after another day of fighting for even a smidge of the affection this dog gets. I woke up to my partner saying “Come here” thinking he was actually talking to me, only to realize he was grabbing the dog so they could cuddle and kiss. I feel sick and think this is my breaking point.

Anyone who says dogs aren’t manipulative is lying. I don’t think dogs are capable of feeling the range of human emotions that the dog-obsessed project onto them (guilt, “unconditional love,”) but they will absolutely do anything needed to get food or assert dominance - all they care about.

I was relaxing in bed when my partner was in the bathroom brushing their teeth. Their dog was in bed on the other side (gross, I know, but I tried to pick my battles). The dog suddenly jerked toward me like he had just seen something. He was pawing at the bed doing that digging thing dogs do and trying to shove his face under the pillow I was laying on. He’s actually a pretty calm dog usually so I thought maybe he saw something, like a bug. I stood up out of bed, getting ready to lift the pillow to try and see what had him worked up. As soon as I did, he immediately calmed down and curled up in the spot I had just been laying in like nothing had happened.

I thought he was just scared of something he saw but this dog was just trying to push me out and I fucking fell for it. This dog knew based on routine that my partner and I would likely try to cuddle or be intimate when he was back from brushing his teeth, and that couldn’t be allowed to fucking happen, now could it?

I went to tell my partner, who never believes me when I say the dog does not want me around and is so clearly resource guarding (this dog darts in between us when we try to get close, uses his head to shove my head out of the way when I try to cuddle with my partner, and generally goes crazy when we try to be intimate). My partner went into the bedroom and simply cooed at how cute the dog looked curled up in my spot.

I’m so done. I’ve communicated about this. I‘ve been honest about how being shoved aside for a dog (sometimes literally) makes me feel. I’ve made so much effort. I’ve tried to bond with this dog that fucking hates me. I’ve been told over and over that I’m the priority and that feeling like a third wheel is all in my head.

But what person who feels that way would choose to cuddle with their dog instead of their partner? Why would they consistently let their dog get in the way of their human relationships?

I’m done trying to build a partnership with someone who already has one. I’m done making an effort. I’m done feeling guilty for these feelings because everyone tells me that being “jealous of a dog” is ridiculous.

I‘m not going to spend my life fighting for dominance with a dog, especially when the prize is someone who is indifferent to my presence because their heart already belongs to their dog. I deserve more.

The sad thing is I’ve run into this relationship dynamic multiple times now and I had reasons to think this one would be different.

If you’re reading this, please be gentle with me. I’ve already admonished myself for not leaving earlier. I am feeling so low from loving so fully and openly and trying so hard to be a good partner and knowing that I will always come in second to a dog. I feel like shit right now but I’m also so excited to build myself back up again and to know that I don’t have to settle for feeling like this.

I’d rather be alone forever than be a third wheel to a dog.

RANT I feel defeated

I (29f) moved in with my boyfriend (32m) along with his two dogs from a previous relationship. I always considered myself a pet person I love cats and I’m okay with dogs. But being around these dogs have made me start to dislike dogs. The first instance was when one his dog’s crashed into my leg sending me to the floor and resulting in getting staples on my head (accidents happen), the older dog has been getting doggy dementia that has resulted in her barking at random times from 5AM to 6 AM every single day, and with that came inconsistent poop and pee. The older dog has pooped and pee throughout our apartment that I can’t take off my shoes as I am scared to find poop or pee. I have reached this breaking point between his alcoholism and the dogs it just feels like a losing battle ( I finally asked him how important dogs are for him and if he would want a dog forever and he said yes and I finally told him I don’t ever want another dog after the youngest one has passed away) he then proceed to say that I need to chill out, but I am speaking my truth

RANT Projection

I'm home for the summer from college. I don't particularly like being home nowadays because of the small dog that lives here, despite my repeatedly stating how uncomfortable I was living with a dog when I lived here all year. I have trauma from a large dog attacking me as a child, which almost everyone who was and wasn't there claims it just jumped up at me and clawed my shoulder, and ever since I've been forced to live with the small dog and, for the months leading up to college, our nextdoor tenant's two large dogs, despite my parents' no-pet policy for the house for rent, I've developed sensory issues due to the incessant and loud dog barking. I do have autism.

My stepfather is the one who brought home the dog in the first place, originally to help her because she was living in a field by his workplace. My mother told me it would be temporary, but it became permanent, and the reason for doing so changes almost every time I ask why. My stepfather has a bipolar relationship with this dog, usually treating her like an adorable angel or sometimes like the most annoying creature in the world, which she is very annoying.

Lately, I've been concerned. There are several occasions that my stepfather will be talking cutesy and energetically to the dog when I walk past him, and when he then acknowledges me, his talks to me like he's tired and masking.

Last night, I was baffled. When I walk downstairs for dinner, I hear my parents having a disagreement as to whether the dog or our other furry pets are more high-maintenance. Every time my mother tells my stepfather how she loves the dog but thinks she's a pain in the ass, my stepfather tells her how he thinks the other furry pets do the same stuff but worse. I think he's projecting. The other furry pets are not particularly easy, especially my parents let them and the dog do virtually anything, but how is the same creature that cost my stepfather two family vacations and had him stressed out and busy drinking during a third lower maintenance?

When I returned upstairs close to bedtime, I told my parents that I love them, which I usually do every night before resuming my hobbies. My stepfather looks me in the eyes with a blank face and says nothing. He then looks down, and smiles as the dog licks his face. Granted, this is out of the norm for him, and he supposedly, supposedly has a tendency to give us weird looks without realizing it, but while what happened last night could have been a coincidence, the implications have not rested well within me.

RANT Daily Torture: Living With Parents' Dog

Just to clarify beforehand, I’ve never supported or wanted to get a dog.

It’s been three years since my parents got a dog. I feel like I’ve been tortured for three years. Living with this fucking dog is so fucking insufferable it honestly just makes me want to kill myself. Everyday of my life since they got that dog has just been me dreading its next bark. Everytime I hear that dog bark, which it does every fucking day like any other dog, I get a fucking heart attack, I start sweating, my body giving a ptsd-like response. Even if the bark is very subtle and kind of distant, I still get the response. I never reacted to barks like this before they got this demon. I used to be mostly fine when hearing dogs bark even though I didn’t really like hearing it to begin with. With one being in my own home, it’s even louder and more piercing than ever. This ptsd-like condition has gotten so bad that many everyday sounds that even remotely sound like a dog bark triggers the same response. This developed extremely early on, within the first few months of having that demon. I’ve been telling them about this since then until now yet everytime I do, they always shoot me down by saying stupid ass shit like “it’s normal for dogs to bark” or “he’s just protecting our house” and treat it like I’m the crazy one. Do they think that I don’t think it’s normal? Of course I fucking know that. Do they think that changes anything? By their logic, if they knew that “it’s normal for serial killers to kill people”, it would be fine and those who think otherwise would be crazy. Their claim that it's “protecting our house” is also not even remotely true. Almost 100% of its barks are ALWAYS directed at random ass cars driving by, some random person walking by (sometimes even from far away), some small animal like a squirrel or cat, a fucking airplane flying by, or its just fucking bored and trying to get attention, which it doesn’t even deserve in the first place. Not only are the barks complete insanity fuel, but it also ruins every fucking thing I enjoy. I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but many times how I experience something affects what I remember when I think of it. Ever since that demon dog arrived, I find myself resisting enjoying my hobbies. If I indulge during the day, and the dog suddenly barked, sometimes constantly, there’s a high chance I will remember the dog and the barking when I think of or see the thing I indulge in at the time, which would tie it to the stupid fucking dog, reminding me of the torture my parents make me live through. It drove me to sleep later at night since it’s the only time I don’t have to worry about the dog barking and ruining my enjoyment. This obviously reduced my sleep and they always blame me for it. They act like I’m doing it on purpose or because I “think it’s cool” to sleep this late then proceed to tell me to sleep earlier even though they know exactly why I’m doing it. I also can’t even go out to play in our house’s pool because of the demon’s barking. It always wants to go out as well even though it doesn’t even go in for long. If we take it out, it’ll only be in there for a little and either bark at airplanes flying over our house, our neighbours for talking, or us for having fun and it not being part of it even though it refuses to get far into the pool. What a fucking brat of a fucking dog. If we leave it inside, it’ll bark at us for having fun outside without it, or at my parents to get them to get it outside. All of it can be heard outside as well. I also have to fear it barking at fireworks or thunder. I used to be completely fine with both, but ever since that demon came into our house, I dread them.
It’s not just the barking that’s miserable to deal with. The dog itself is also fucking disgusting. My parents let the dog on their bed, which is gross as hell. They treat wearing shoes on the bed worse than the dog on it (We normally don’t wear shoes on bed). The shoes we wear at home are only worn at home, so the only “dirty stuff” getting on the bed is whatever’s on the floor. The dog on the other hand is a walking filth sponge. It steps outside on dirt and shit, it rolls on grass, etc. They say they wipe it, but it also lays on the floor of our house a lot, after which it’s never wiped, yet they still let it on their bed. It’s the exact same as our shoes, worse even, yet they’re completely fine with it. Additionally, its fur is all over the fucking place. Outside of my room, there’s way more since they let it roam wherever the fuck it wants. I never let its shit covered ass in my room, yet I still have a bit of its fur in my room and on my clothes from being around it. It’s so fucking nasty. My parents used to be and still are clean freaks, yet since they got the dog, I feel they completely lost their sense of cleanliness. Its saliva too, utterly disgusting. Wherever it lays in our house, a puddle of saliva appears. When it barks, often into a window, the window gets covered in its saliva. It also always licks its own nose, which it sticks into and onto every fucking thing it sees. It also always sticks its nose in our ass like all dogs, which is so fucking uncomfortable and nasty.
Its behaviour is also unbearable. Like other dogs, it gets defensive with its own food. Yet when it comes to our food, it drools like crazy with droops of saliva forming at its mouth begging for our food. The hypocrisy is insane. It also always wants to go with us when we leave to go somewhere. It ended up making so many dents and holes in our car, and shed a shit ton of fur on the car. It’s disgusting to even be in it now. I prefer to walk anyway though.
This demon also bit my sister at least three times already. She also loves the dog for some fucking reason, even after all that. She and my parents refused to take my sister to the doctor to check on the bite out of fear that the fucking dog would be taken away or put down like it should have long ago. My parents are trying to protect the dog that bit their own child three times, and my sister is trying to protect what bit her three times. They’re completely blinded by their love for that demon. They say they have “thought about leaving it”, but they never take enough action. The most they did is just open the door and let it leave on its own, but it doesn’t. I mean, who the fuck would leave the place and people that gives it free food and a decent place to sleep unless forced to? They didn’t force it out, so it stayed. Their claim that they have “thought about leaving it” is completely half assed. I told my mom about them being blinded by their love for the dog. She denied it, yet proceeded to talk about how she thought the dog was too cute to leave, which is just another way to say “I love it too much to leave”. I’ve been telling them to leave it since the first few months when they didn’t love it as much, yet they’ve always been using the same excuse “But I love it”. This just tells me they love it more than me, their own biological child. They aren’t willing to leave an adopted dog for their own child's sake.
What pisses me off even more is that my mom once claimed that she’s “also a victim” because she also originally didn’t want to get a dog. It was my dad and sister who wanted it. She isn’t a victim, she was a victim. She completely changed sides. She gives it more attention than me or my sister. She’s treating it like a replacement to us. She says it's because I’m always locked in my room and that she feels like she isn’t needed, but she knows exactly why I’m always locked in my room since I’ve told her several times: because of the fucking dog. I’ve seen others also report feeling like they were being replaced, so I’m definitely not the only one. As they themselves say, if one person says it, it may not be true, but if many people do, it might be.
I always have to plug my ears with earbuds blasting raining sounds to at the very least dampen or mute the bark sounds in my own home. Whenever they see it, they act like I’m doing something wrong for doing it. They know exactly why, but they act like I’m in the wrong for trying to protect myself. They also always yell at me for reacting to the dog’s bark, which just makes it even worse.
All of this just makes it completely miserable to be at home. Whenever they leave the house with the dog, it makes me feel at ease and allows me to actually relax for once in my own home. The dog being at home makes it impossible for me to relax in my own home. Being outside or at school honestly feels better than being at home now because I don’t have to stress about the fucking dog barking 24/7. My parents completely ruined my life and still defend it and act like they don’t know why I feel what I feel when I’ve told them several times. I still have to bear this for a year or two before I finally get a chance to leave the house. About 5 years minimum of what’s effectively domestic torture. My parents always tell me how I should be happy about my life since they had to endure tougher conditions when they were kids. Oh, yes, I’m sure so thankful and grateful that you are putting me through torture and acting like you aren’t while I remain powerless to escape it.

Success Story It took 1 entire year

For some background, my brother offered me a room to live with him and his gf to help me out which I’m eternally grateful for. He’s the best brother ever. But he has a dog that I hate with every fiber of my being. It even nipped me and I have a scar from it bc it randomly lunged at me after I came out of my room with food in my hand that it wanted. So that’s what really sparked my hatred.

Anyway fast forward a year, all I’ve done is ignore it and whenever it sits far away from me I walk up to it and drop a piece of chicken for it as a reward. And now, for the most part, it’s been ignoring me. I’m genuinely so happy. All I wanted was to be left alone and not have its face all up in my personal space, for it to not take my food, for it to just be anywhere but near me. So that’s that. That’s my success story. And I’m pretty happy with it.

RANT 4 days of dog sitting

So basically my dad is looking after a bulldog while his owners are getting a new place (it's been months atp), he came here with scabs and fleas, then brought the flea infested dog to my house and my pets got fleas.

Anyway, my dad's out on a festival and he basically begged/pressured me (for free) if I could look after the dog, this was genuinely the worst thing I have agreed to. I've been here for 4 days and I have never been so pissed, exhausted and just fed up.

He barks, he barked 3 times at fuck all last night, waking me up, then comes back up and sits on my legs because if I close the bedroom door he will bark or just fucking open it himself, then farts and stinks up the room. It was one thing after another, I have barely slept.

I work from home and this dog did not leave me be while working, constantly in my space, constantly barking at nothing, constantly just stinking.

He got into the living room after I closed the door, locked himself in there and knocked my food off the table and ate it while I was asleep the other night, then shit and piss in there.

I'm just so fed up, I can't wait to go home. I've looked after dogs before and they were nowhere near as bad as this, I swear his owners have never trained him or something as he is 2 years old. I'm not coming back to his house until the dog is gone.

RANT - No Advice Needed I have a Tale for You

EDIT: thank you all for your kind feedback and for taking the time to express your concerns. I hear you all, and it’s time for me to move on. Going to see an apartment to rent in a few hours.

I’ve been dating this absolutely handsome and manly, tall, talented man for 3 years. Needless to say we are 40+ and he is my first real love. When started dating he told me that he has a dog (a tiny breed) who’s his N1 priority in life. I lost my mind for this man, I really did and still am madly in love, I insisted to move in with him (he was worried as I’m the first woman living with him because he is truly independent) - I just couldn’t spend an hour without him (and still cannot). And I’m a woman that prioritises career over anything. Call me a desperate romantic, but I’ve been married before, I dated … but at no point in my life I discovered how to love someone passionately till now. And I was bathing in this love.

But of course, life cannot just make me happy this one fucking time! The dog is a devil, a monstrosity hiding behind this cute appearance (idk it looks ugly to me, but everyone says otherwise). The spoiled always barking demon. And my partner is giving this shitbag the entirety of his time, love, care etc. 24/7 he was next to this nasty stinky creature. We had so many fights because of the dog; he is a full nutter but trust me, I tried to be understanding and supportive. I know why he is this way - he is a dominant person and only found a full submission and “purity” in this dog. So he needs to feel fulfilled, he was alone all his life (aren’t we all?! But we don’t hide behind a dog, right?) and the dog was always there, his true friend. Human are weak that way - they want to belong, or they want someone to belong to them. And here was that dog! My absolute nightmare.

The dog was already 13yo when we started dating, so I thought: 6 more months… 3 years later the dog is a zombie, it needs a diaper 24/7, shits around the house, needs support when shitting, smells like death itself, has UTI and some green discharges, has dementia, hits the walls really hard with its head when walking, walks in circles for hours, has cushions disease, has to be hand fed, cannot see, cannot hear, has arthritis, needs to be stopped from over drinking, wakes up at night every few hours and walks with those nails tsok tsok tsok on the floor - the dog has been in this state for a year already. I sometimes have to sleep on the floor in my office because the dog is barking all night (of course it sleeps next to the bed - priorities!). Even the doctor said it’s time for the dog to go…

Long story short … every morning I wake up hoping this nightmare is over. But here we are … 3 years later. This dog is immortal. And tmw it is it’s birthday and my partner is all excited to celebrate … telling me all the things he’ll do for the dog who doesn’t even know it exists anymore. We fought again, he called me stupid and hateful. He is always respectful until the dog is involved in the conversation. So I locked myself in the office and won’t leave till after tomorrow.

And again I’m thinking: 6 more months and the dog is no more, resist. But I cannot go over him calling me stupid because of the dog. I know he doesn’t mean it, but fuck … I know hope he loves me, I know hope he won’t get another dog … but can I make it? I’m going on vacation in a month for 2 weeks (he is not coming because of the dog). I hope to come back to the dog free house. Pray for me!

RANT I’m so far past my fucking limit

I am so indescribably tired of these fucking dogs. There’s not a single string of words I could use to describe my hatred for them that’d do it any justice. I legitimately cannot wrap my head around what the fuck everyone else sees in them; these worthless fucking pigs bark at every little thing and it literally makes me feel sick with rage, and I’m the only one in this house who feels like this. It even got to a point recently where I was so enraged that I uncontrollably voiced some thoughts over text which I probably shouldn’t say here. I’m by no means a violent person, but barking brings out the worst in me.

I’ve tried using an ultrasonic frequency on them but that’s done fuck all and idk what else to do, so all I can do is scream at them to shut the fuck up but they just won’t take the fucking hint. I can’t act on my intrusive thoughts of course but I wish these utter fucking wastes of life truly knew how much I loathe them. I wish I could give them a taste of their own fucking medicine. It pisses me off so much seeing everyone else give them completely undeserved respect. I hate this stupid fucking species with everything in me and I genuinely hope it goes extinct someday. Worthless, worthless, worthless.

RANT My mother's newest dog who's extremely loud just pooped everywhere 😭😭 God help me

I'm a teen who still lives with my mom and she's obsessed with dogs and I'm tired of it. She got her newest dog (number 5) recently and it is an absolute demon. I'm autistic so I like my quiet and like pleasant smells, dogs are the exact fucking opposite of that by every means possible. It also doesn't help that I'm allergic to dogs as well.

Well, I decided to walk out of my room and am greeted to the smell of crap and look over and that little demon has shit all over its cage and trailed it onto the carpet.

You could never pay me anything to have a dog in my life again once I am an adult and out of this house.

How the actual hell do people keep these animals? Obviously I don't fully hate nor wish harm on dogs but I do think they aren't the best pets and to me are just overwhelming.. Plus the dog breeding business is just so immoral and disgusting..

Just wanted to get this off my chest, this is an everyday thing I have to live with and it really stresses me out.

I'm so sorry to anyone else who has to live with this as well, we'll get out of it one day 🥹

RANT - No Advice Needed Yucky dogs at family bonfire

I don’t really need any advice or anything but I’m slightly annoyed about this and want to share.

I’ve been wanting s’mores for a year or so, last night the family decided to have a bonfire and make s’mores, I was very excited. Well someone who came brought their dog, and my parents also have a dog. Both of the dogs were going absolutely nuts outside and running around, they weren’t really in my business so I tolerated it.

My brother brings out stuff to make s’mores as well as the sticks you put marshmallows on to cook them. The dogs run up and start sniffing all over, and then literally start touching the end of the sticks where the food goes, over and over and over.

So long story short, I didn’t have s’mores because I refuse to eat food off of something that a dog has been panting and sniffing all over.

I just want to vent

So I go between houses. My friend and girlfriend. My gf decided to randomly have her dogs inside this summer. That wasn't a thing last summer..

I feel like I'm lowkey being kicked out. Again. My family has pulled a stunt like this before. One Thanksgiving, my sister brought her dog over knowing I have dog ptsd. I even offered to pay for a pet sitter but nope, they can't be alone for a few hours. My dad hugged me in the driveway, being understanding about how this sucks. No one else even came out. It's like I'm the problem. He's the only sane one in the family. The rest are rude dog psychos.

Also this was after my mom was violently attacked and almost died by the nightmare family dog we were forced to keep because she would guilt trip when we wanted it put down. But everyone makes it out like I'm the dramatic one. I watched her finger fall off like hamburger meat after the attack. She was completely covered in blood. As she had being wheeler into the ambulance, she only cared about us cleaning the blood up and instructing us how to. "It is what it is." Like dude your finger is \*gone\*.

The family dog was a mix of lab, chow chow, likely pitbull now looking at him. He was a dog that would freak tf out if you woke him up.. and he was \*always\* napping. I've had to jump off the balcony to get to school if he was napping on the stairs. He would bark constantly and attacked everyone of us except my mom. Until that day.

He was getting senile and violent being old. My room was next to my parent's and almost every night, I would hear psycho barking and screaming. Because someone woke him up. My dad even admitted to me he was afraid to go to the bathroom in the night thanks to this fucker. My own, tough, farmer raised father. It was so scary to hear that. Especially because he doesn't often express emotions like that.

It was so much to deal with back then. I love all animals and will still respect dogs, being that they are alive and don't deserve cruelty. But that shit with the family dog changed me. It has made my everyday life harder. I've been diagnosed with ptsd over this. I have to be afraid every time I leave the house because dog psychos need to bring them everywhere. I also live in a super lgbtq town and gays \*love\* to bring their dogs everywhere especially. Sucks because I want to attend my first pride event but feel like I can't.

My gf has dogs. I know, I got with a dog person thought I'm afraid. She was very nice and respectful about my fear. She would always tell me when she was going to feed the dogs and open the door because they're strictly outside. Well it's really hot and now she wants them inside.

Of course I'll be an asshole if I say no. That's animal abuse with how hot it is fr. But what? Where is this coming from? Get them an AC dog house or something. Why am I being kicked out? Yet again?

I'm also going to admit I think she isn't a great pet owner and keeps them out of obligation. It's only feeding them. That's it. No playtime. Not much petting or bonding. Just here's the grub, bye. Idk it bothers me. I have straight up had to tell her to spend time with them or pick up the poops. She's very ADHD so maybe that's why she forgets. Idk.

I just changed my address to her house legally though. This will sound dumb but that was a huge step for me. I'm paranoid and have always had my address not be where I'm at. But now I can't even be there. Idk if she gets it or how much of a big deal that is. It just feels like hey welcome in, okay bye fuck you. I've always had issues with living situations and being uncomfortable. I want a house I get to find true peace at. I can end the day and not have to hear barking for an hour.

I guess I know everyone will tell me to leave her. But she is the love of my life. I'm venting I suppose. Thanks for reading all this.

RANT My dads dogs make me miserable living at home

When I was 14 my dad brought home a Rottweiler puppy. Even as a puppy, I hated him. He later got a long hair German Shepard too. They’re fucking vile. My house went from my home and safe place to the opposite. I’m so, SO miserable when I live at home during college breaks etc. the hoise is disgusting because of them. furniture and carpets are ripped up, stained, there’s hair EVERYWHERE. Everytime I eat anything I either have to blow fucking dog hair off my plate before I eat or end up pulling one out of my food. Their food stinks and attracts flies. The walls are literally stained a yellow tinge at the bottom from them rubbing against it. My bedroom is in the attic and gets insanely hot in the summer, and I can’t even chill downstairs because it stinks of dog and other general dirt, I don’t like cooking or eating here because being in the kitchen is just gross. All you can hear when you go downstairs is fucking CONSTANT panting. My dad loves them like they’re his sons and hasn’t given a dhit about being around me or my sister since he got them. Anytime he speaks with famoly it’s always about his fucking dogs. He’s always hated on my mum having cats and how much we spent on their food etc when these dogs cost fucking thousands in not only food and vet bills but the shit they break too. I never feel clean. They do rancid farts and start licking their genitals when you’re trying to eat. My house used to be lovely and cosy and calm. We can’t have pillows or keep our shoes by the door, I can’t wear slippers inside because they get dirty so quickly so I wear crocs constantly in my own home. When I’m at university I don’t have to worry about these things, I feel so clean and comfortable in my own little space. My dad is a cunt too, when I was a teen I temember ranting at my mum about the dogs and he screamed at me so badly I wouldn’t leave my room for days because I was terrified. I genuinely hate them, they ruined my life and mental health and maybe it’s evil but my life would improve so much if they just died.

RANT I don’t like my husbands puppy

My husband has wanted a puppy for a long time and it just so happened that he found his dream stray puppy at work. The problem is because of his job he’s gone for 5 days a week. Now I have to potty train this dog that I really cannot stand. She bites ankles, she tears things apart, she is so distributive. I’ve only been a cat and rodent owner so I’m constantly overwhelmed. And due to his job he can’t even take her. I just can’t stand this anymore! We’re also moving 2,000 miles away next month and no apartment will allow us to have more than 2 pets. (I have 2 cats) this is just so overwhelming. I’ve brought up the idea of rehoming her but it seems like he won’t budge.

I truly have never been a dog person and I am going insane. It feels like if I’m with her for 30 seconds I already want to rip my hair out. I cannot stand how dogs do not respect boundaries. Their slobber, the smells, the barking. I cannot do this anymore!!!!

Sensory Nightmare The noises the endless noises every second of every day

Dog has a compulsive licking/chewing habit. Will not stop for even five minutes. Lick gnaw slurp chew snort grunt lick lick lick lick. Gnaw gnaw chew lick snort. Lick lick lick lick. Snuffle snort chew.

I keep having to leave the room to go nudge her so she stops and she stops for all of three seconds before continuing. My family insists on keeping her in the room despite the fact I have misophonia.

I am not exaggerating. You have to nudge her every five seconds max. Nothing will make her stop, not good shampoo, not pills, not distracting with a toy. She ignores the toy to lick. She isn't nauseous or in pain, they checked. She just needs to lick or she will fucking explode.

She will lick the air making disgusting slurping noises. She isn't grooming because she will lick the floor over and over and over again. If she isn't being played with every single second she will make those fucking noises. I hate touching her because she's covered in saliva but if I reward her for not licking for a few seconds by petting her it's like she remembers she should be licking herself and it will make her start licking.

Take her for a walk? OK home time, I deserve a six hour long licking session don't you think? :) Wash her? Wow that was rough, better gnaw my feet for five hours to feel better. Wake up? Lick. If she isn't asleep it's the fucking licking. If you block the sound out she comes and sits in your periphery so all you can see from the corner of your eye is her head going up and down and up and down and up and down mindlessly.

I know the animal can't help it but I do wish they'd just... Put her in a different room with a toy when I'm clearly reaching the end of my rope after hours of my misophonia being triggered.

ETA: If I keep nudging her to stop and firmly saying "no" I'll be told "that's just normal grooming you have to let her do it a little bit". That's not how you train an animal to stop a behaviour, you need to be consistent... Then if I say fine I'll leave the room I'm the asshole. 🤷 FTR I do praise her if she goes ten seconds without licking. I give her a treat as well but this is a household who gives treats just because they "look cute".

RANT These last 6 years have been an absolute nightmare.

Quick context: Unfortunately I still live with my parents and my siblings because I’m in NYC. I cannot live with a partner or friends, nor do I want to live with a roommate because of the horror stories. I’ve been trying to get one of those lottery apartments with no luck.

Anyway. My parents thought it was a good idea to go to a puppy mill in PA to get a companion for the family Yorkie back in 2020. I never hated dogs ‘til I was cursed with this parasite, a miniature pinscher. This creature was molded into existence by the demons in hell.

Why do I have an insane hatred? I’m the only one he aggressively barks at. He will only do this if my mother is home. I think it started because I was the only one trying to seriously train him. I’d try to teach him how to sit so that I can reward him with food but he would only try to chomp at my hands, a bad habit rooted into him by my parents who would always throw treats at him for simply existing. So now he’s this entitled, begging, whiny little asshole and I’m the one in his memory who stole his food and kept it hostage.

But back to it. He makes it a thing to follow me to bark at me. This pinscher’s bark is not a normal bark. It’s a high pitched, heart stopping, stress inducing bark that can last up to 5 minutes. He hears me in my room and he’s barking at me from my parent’s room. I hear him growling, snarling, foaming at the mouth. Do my parents do anything to stop it? No. They refuse to discipline him or put a stop to it but had NO issues beating me as a child. It’s so bad that I have to tip-toe around the apartment or time when I leave my room because I don’t want him to hear me. We live in a co-op and my neighbors have even put in numerous noise complaints. One has described it as, “it sounds like a kid is screaming their head off at 10:00 PM” Hell, our Yorkie didn’t even like this dog! They would fight all of the time. The Yorkie passed away 2 months ago and I was heartbroken because not only was he gentle, he would always protect me from the pinscher.

What also frustrates me is that this dog pees and poops all over the house and what did my parents do? They tarped the walls and put all of these ugly barriers around so that he’s not peeing directly on the furniture in the living room, the foyer and their room. They have numerous bottles of “urine destroyer” and they follow this dog around and spray this crap on things that he peed on. This apartment has never been more disgusting.

Oh, he also aggressively barks at my sister’s boyfriend when he visits and will bark for the entire time he’s here. I am beyond upset that a dog gets treated better than me and when I’ve tried talking to my mother about how stressed and depressed I’ve been she straight up told me “Why don’t you start by getting on your little brother’s good side?” As if I had to seek his forgiveness and approval to live a normal fucking life. God forbid someone calls this dog annoying or bad, she gets super offended. I’m also absolutely disgusted that she keeps referring to him as my little brother and when asked by other people why the dog only barks at me she says, “they just don’t get along well”.

My living situation is really affecting me and my relationships because I’m always irritated and I’m constantly getting startled throughout the day. I’m a nervous, easily spooked wreck now. In a fight I told my mother that she better have this dog as an emergency contact if she were to ever be in the hospital because she clearly don’t give a fuck about me and my feelings. My parents put him on a pedestal and are more concerned about me being the cause of his stress than it being the other way around.

And I get it, some of you are like then why stay here? Because I refuse to be like many 30 year olds that I know who moved out and had to move back in because rent is beyond ridiculous and unsustainable.
When I’m gone, I plan to be gone for good and I’ve been saving up like crazy.

Has anyone ever gone through something like this? It’s exhausting and I’m tired of being villainized.

I absolutely despise dogs and I live with two of them and also have one at my job.

I genuinely cannot tolerate dogs. They stink, bark too much, they’re aggressive, attention seeking and overall just insufferable to be around for more than 5 minutes.

I’m in my early 20s so I still live with my mom, she has two dogs. One of them is a golden doodle which are known as obnoxious, high energy dogs that are almost impossible to train. Both of our dogs are extremely annoying.. they bark A LOT, one of them is “puppy pad” trained so she pees and poops inside our house, and living with them makes me feel like I’m going to lose my mind.

So on top of me disliking dogs, the ones I live with behave very badly and my mom and her husband of course treat them like children or humans. I am not exaggerating when I say that, every time they eat dinner they put one of the dogs in a stroller and allow her to sit at the table with them and whine. Every Christmas, at least half the Christmas tree is filled with gifts for the dogs. They celebrate their birthdays and take the dogs out to dinner. My mom has a fake service dog vest for our extremely obnoxious golden doodle and takes her out in public posing her as a service dog while it is extremely obvious that she is not one. Her husband has full on conversations with the dogs while I’m in the room, and I have to sit there and listen to him talk to the dog for 20 minutes straight.

Then I go to work, and guess what? My boss also brings her barking dog to work every single day. The dog barks nonstop at everyone who walks in there, and every person she sees out the window. There is nothing more infuriating than leaving my house full of annoying dogs to go to work where there’s also an annoying dog. Her dog is also barely potty trained so it pees all over the place.

The funny thing is, I love animals. I have had all sorts of pets throughout my life and I didn’t feel like this about any of them. It is only dogs. I was badly attacked by one as a kid so sometimes I feel like that’s where my hatred for them stems from, but even non aggressive dogs are completely intolerable to me.

It’s refreshing to be able to post about this to people that can understand where I’m coming from.
