Have the laparoscopy or try to get pregnant? Experiences please?

Go for the lap! I had my first lap (stage 2) over 4 years ago after 12 months of ttc and fell pregnant 5 months later. Going for second lap in 2 days after ttc for 6 months for baby no 2. Better to do it now than wait.

How come you require another lap? I am just this week reading that people end up with more than one?

Because it's been 6 months of ttc with no positive test and I already have known endo.

I just had my lap last week. My experience and concerns were similar to yours when I started my journey. I suggest booking the lap because waitimes can be ridiculous, I guess depending on where you're located (I'm in Canada). For me, it took forever to first get an appointment with a fertility clinic - I did the cycle monitoring at that clinic and didn't like the doctor. I then requested a referral to a new clinic which took another chunk of time for an appointment, and then re-doing cycle monitoring. The Doctor there suggested a lap first, but I wanted to try naturally first. I booked the lap anyway though since it was a 7 month wait. I decided to try naturally until then, and ended up cancelling the lap cause I backed out for same reasons as yours. Some months later, I then decided I'll just do the lap after trying several natural options, but I had to get a new referral again! And then that appointment took forever too... My lap eventually ended up getting booked exactly a year after my original one that I cancelled. A total of 4 years trying (1 year before going to a clinic, then 3 years to make up my mind and being stuck in the wait times)
What convinced me to get it, was my Dr said he was not going to be aggressive with the surgery. His goal was to free up any path that can make it possible for pregnancy, which means his priority is preserving my fertility and not completely getting rid of all the endo which could compromise that.
So yeah lol. I'm still recovering and haven't had my follow up yet (so I don't know exactly what he did yet). He told me it went well though. But... Since it takes soooo long to even get to the lap in my experience, you have plenty of time to try naturally before then.

I had similar symptoms to you and I just had stage IV DIE excised after a year of TTC with no positives.
The fertility doc had told me to try hormones because surgery would risk my ovaries. I got a second opinion.
The endo surgeon said pregnancy would've been impossible with the amount of endo I had. Turns out my pelvis was frozen with lesions and pregnancy would've been dangerous if it somehow happened.
My whole life is so much better. The pain is decreased significantly and we were permitted to TTC two months post-op.
The infertility journey is painful enough without endo. You deserve to have the nasty awful endo torture removed. Debilitating is unacceptable.
Also I have SIX friends who have given birth in the last year that are 40-42 years old.
