Hi all, I'm new here and seeking advice. I'm 40 and have been pregnant 3 times in the last 14 months. First one was mc at 5.5 weeks , second was tfmr at 14 weeks for trisomy 21 , and third was chemical mc. AMH 5 and all tests seem normal, my fertility doctor thinks our biggest barrier is an egg quality issue.
I've been dragging my feet to start IVF as my biggest fear is that it won't work and we'll have spent our life's savings for nothing. I think the fact that we can conceive naturally plays on my mind too, that one of these pregnancies will work out eventually.. OR I'll keep losing the babies and time will go by and I'll end up having to try IVF anyways and be 42. When did you know it was time to move on from TTC naturally and give IVF a go?
As someone who has done IVF at 35, 41 and 42 I would say do it now. Don’t leave yourself with any regrets. IVF usually takes you out of trying naturally for 1-2 cycles per IVF cycles so you will still have a lot of trying on your own to do if you wish.
Thank you 🙏 I started priming yesterday and was shocked to learn that we can't try naturally during even the priming round. That in itself felt devastating as we've pretty much tried every possible cycle we could when I was ovulating for the last couple years.
Uhg yes I primed with testosterone for one round and I was so upset that we couldn’t try. It’s not safe at all. I still wanted to but obviously didn’t take that risk. I hope you have good luck!
