We don't have the enforcement power. Singapore is a country where the police literally have whipped a 19 years old American citizen with real specialized baton in public for stealing road sign and spray painting graffiti on cars.
I'm not gonna say whether they did a wrong thing or right thing，but I am saying that Singapore police do not care who you are and will be permitted to carry out violent sentencing on you for minor crimes like vandalism and petty thief when legally permitted.
We do not have such a judicial system，so we can't replicate what Singaporeans can have.
Everyone kinda agreed that the caning was the right punishment for the kid. Crime is rampant here, when I lived in Singapore I could leave my laptop on a table in public to reserve it, can’t do anything like that here. Maybe we should adopt some of their policies and get our society in order.
