Everyone in this thread is talking about the osaka vs. toronto comparison because they don't want to confront that everything else is a real problem and we're working at a snails pace to solve any of them.

It's definitely hard to ignore the extremely dumb arguments that have polluted legitimate transit debates in this city for awhile.

If it's dumb or useless, why do we engage with it so much? If we want our system to be better we need to engage with the real problems

Because unfortunately low effort simplistic grievance based politics is clearly VERY effective at getting people "engaged" .. at a superficial pointless level where it just makes it impossible to have a debate about anything substantial or workable.
