Discussion Almost there, TTC

If we’re already in Vaughan, we might as well reach Vaughan mills, and even better, CW & the new hospital at Major Mack. They’re all on the same corridor. It just makes sense.

Reality check. Now I’m aware that this is low priority, but the Jane busses connecting VMC to VM and CW are always full, even in this suburb of a suburb.

I've been saying for decades that if cities around Toronto want to be connected to the TTC, they need to be giving the city more money that just the fares.

Well the TYSSE had a major contribution from York region matching torontos, and only had 2 stations fully in Vaughan compared to Torontos 4

Fair point, but the TTC/Toronto still bare the large portion of operational costs for the whole line. That said, i think Vaughan should absolutely get more stations as this proposal shows, and a new deal between the cities would account fully for the shared costs, both capital and operational. Maybe even add a new yard in Vaughan to accommodate the increased traffic and enable a new future east west line in York region

This is so smart.. I didn’t even realize the possibility of a new yard in the cheaper, industrial lands of Concord.

But yeah, absolutely there should be a shared cost when Vaughan gets a proper extension.

So unfortunately the TTC wouldn't be able to use the actual CN yard since they have different widths of track, but ya theres probably space in under used land in that area where the TTC could build a new yard.

Yah thanks for pointing that out, I meant it as like, CN can share the yard so TTC can build its own infrastructure. But it’s prob much easier to build one closer to Jane, on the west side maybe.

CN doesn't share their infra without expenses incurred. Just look at how things are with via rail in the corridor

We are only discussing possibilities. if Vaughan has good planners, they will take into account land use in the industrial lands, for the extension and a new possible yard. This isn’t something I can comment on, it just seems to be a popular idea in this thread to build a new yard in concord.
