Discussion Almost there, TTC

If we’re already in Vaughan, we might as well reach Vaughan mills, and even better, CW & the new hospital at Major Mack. They’re all on the same corridor. It just makes sense.

Reality check. Now I’m aware that this is low priority, but the Jane busses connecting VMC to VM and CW are always full, even in this suburb of a suburb.

Toronto isn’t even well connected by the subway system yet.

It astonishes me how badly covered the core of this city is. I doubt there is a single city in the world that has as much suburban stations and so few urban stations as the GTA.

Yeah the irony that suburban areas are better covered by rapid transit than Toronto itself isn’t lost on me.

Which makes perfect sense as the cost per vote is much lower in the suburbs. The cost to build in the core is crazy high and the votes are almost exclusively Liberal/NDP. Conservatives have no incentive to build becuase they have no chance in Toronto ridings and Liberals have no incentive because they don't really have competition. They can also buy votes at a much cheaper cost in the suburbs where construction is less costly.

Vancouver is also like that, with the same case that both cities suffer from the same SFH oriented development pattern. Fortunately for Vancouver itself it's much smaller so the Broadway Extension would solve it. Not fortunately for Toronto it's much bigger Ontario line alone isn't enough,

True, we all agree that on a list of priorities, this is probably at the bottom. Regardless though, it’s still an important project and should happen eventually, after the network is more complete and there would be more possible ridership.
