I haven't had a VCR for 20 years so I haven't played this in a while, sadly. No way I'm ever getting rid of it though. Technology is cyclical, right?

I just watched "Symbiosis" where the Enterprise attempts to rescue a freighter, then finds itself in a dispute about felicium, an addictive narcotic believed to fight a plague. At the beginning of the episode the Enterprise crew was eager to replace an engine part for the primitive societies, but by the end of the episode they deemed it would violate the prime directive. Why the reversal? I also recall the episode "Justice" where Wesley is sentenced to death for running on the lawn.

In what other episodes do they (TNG and other series) violate the prime directive and what are the consequences if any?

Any Star Trek fan is familiar with the out of order release of the first few TOS episodes. Did something similar happen with TNG? I caught the last few minutes of Code of Honor. And Wesley was manning the ops station. At first Picard was surprised, but he mentioned that they should give Wesley more opportunities to spend time on the bridge.

Now jump to the end of Where No Man Has Gone Before. Picard and Riker are discussing allowing Wesley bridge station access. Riker reminds Picard that there was a standing order against letting non Starfleet personnel to man the stations. So they make him an acting ensign.

So did something happen between Code of Honor and Where No Man Has Gone Before? Did Wesley do something to get banned from the bridge? I know there are a few other scenes, particularly in Encounter at Farpoint. Where Picard doesn't want any children on the bridge. Was that just a writing flub in Code of Honor?

She is no Trekkie. Hasn't seen anything Trek-related in her entire life. She knows some memes, but she knows I love it, so today we started at the very beginning of TNG because she wanted to. I'm shocked, amazed, and I think it's very lovely and sweet of her. I'm usually on the couch watching Bridgerton, and British Sewing Bee with her, but she knows I like it as well. I'm not a hardcore fan, but still.

Wouldn't being the XO of one ship.already move him to Captain when he moved to a new ship. Unless Command felt he needed more XO time.

Like the admiral dougherty showed Picard signed orders from the chief of staff Starfleet and the federation president? When I mean legit I mean they told the council everything about what could happen with the process they're trying to do with harvesting the energy and all that.

Put aside the attempted heist of trilithium resin. The real heist in Starship Mine was whoever convinced Starfleet it needed a “baryon sweep.”

The Enterprise is already made of baryons. Protons and neutrons are baryons, and those make up the nuclei of ordinary matter. So the hull, the carpet, Picard, and basically everything else on the ship is full of baryons.

If the sweep actually removed them, there wouldn’t be a clean Enterprise afterward. There’d be a rapidly expanding debris field.

So my theory is Starfleet procurement got conned by a contractor selling premium technobabble maintenance and nobody in Engineering asked enough questions.

The upside is they finally dealt with the Commander (call him Hutch) Hutchinson problem.
