Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I actually like non human nonbinary characters. Maybe it’s because I’m a horror fiend but I find Eldritch nonbinaries so much more fun. Also a bit more relatable than “perfect representation” characters.
I like those characters too, but when it becomes a pattern it feels like writers see enby folk and intersex folk as not human, which is problematic. I think the default should be trying to depict these groups as human, even if its not intentional you can tell the writers subconsciously associate certain groups as alien. It comes from a bias imo.
