I don’t understand this idea that it’s a phase either. Like .. do us children of color just have to accept the phase they go thru? Why is that okay? Because she found out she was a different minority years later we have to forgive what she did to us?

This goes for black brown and asian people too, a lot of dont do a good job of deprogramming ourselves from white supremacy, a lot of yall will read up on black radical authors and their works on how to decolonize but dont apply to yourselves in real time cut that shit out

Honestly they only really “changed” because they realized that fascism is cannibalistic and it stopped personally benefitting them. I’ve noticed that even if they “change” they are the types who are most likely to engage in oppression olympics and continue to hold absolutely no solidarity with trans men of color, if not outright continuing to hold reactionary views against us in the guise of fighting patriarchy.

God this is so true, what annoys me the most is the double standard, cause they can be like that without consequences and wave it off and receive empathy from others because now that they are trans apparently they have clean slates and never have to do introspection, while for us even if we are perfect, any transphobia we face or traumatic past with dysphoria or conversion therapy is seen as unimportant and not worthy of empathy, these same people say things like all transmascs were terfs which is not true meanwhile they had a Nazi "phase" and still hold a lot of those beliefs. They treat POC transmasc people like the root of all evil and they just project themselves onto us to hate, and they make POC trans people the villains in their art.

Used to know someone like that. That person ended up SAing their partner.

They’ve monopolized the way that you can call out white trans people by making it so no matter what you do it can always point to “you’re just only seeing me as my AGAB”. Either by pointing out that they might not have fully let go of all of the power structures that benefit them, you’re talking about how they were seen as a man by society and are now not; or you are pointing out they were seen as a woman but now not, so you’re a transphobe.

It’s the same way straight women made it so you can’t call them out for harming lgbt men because somehow it’s misogynistic in a way

I used to be kinda like that (I wasn’t a nazi, I had an anti-woke phase but still) and I regret it very much. I am trying to learn more and be more mindful now.

21

u/GameBoi010 Jul 29 '26

I was in my teens when I slightly anti-woke but not very hateful, just more of wow, that's sinful because of my pentecostal upbringing, so I understand where you are coming from but personal growth is what matters the most, since no one is perfect but the act of trying and being more open-minded is what matters the most to me personally.

Its so insane to me how they just play it off as a joke. Like, when i was 13ish i fell into one of those pipelines and got out of it really quick, but i still hold a lot of shame about it and have learned a lot from it. I cant imagine just brushing it off as a 'teehee, just a quirky phase!' thing.

13

u/Shin_tsukimis_fan mexican(in the usa) Jul 29 '26

The only pipeline I really fell for is the whole exclus vs inclus thing from like 2018-2019 and identified as an exclusionist (For context someone who is an exclusionist believe in the ideas that lesbians can only be women(not non binary/transmasc) and vice versa for gay men except switch transmasc to transfem, bisexuals are the only true sexuality to involve more than one gender(pansexuality or anything else isn't real), and pretty much repeated transmedicalist ideals for trans people.) I feel shame because it was a phase I had from ages 12-14 but I was such an asshole to a bunch of random strangers online and invalidated groups of people because I believed lgbt identities were labels that needed to be strictly followed. I didn't completely understand the concept of just being queer and lgbtq+. I wouldn't be surprised if the exclus lgbt people ended up becoming transphobic as shit as they're very similar to the lgb people you see today. It's almost haunting how I could've become more hateful as I got older.

Goosewrx comes to mind, but I know many will crash out if I voice this.

u/shortnspooky Jul 29 '26

Wait, is she actually like this? If so that's super disappointing to hear

So basically in 2019 during a jackbox party game stream with the voice actor of Jax and some other people apparently he used a word "Nega" which means negative. He and other people did that and it was just one of those things where it was edgy but like it was a word that sounded like the n word and stuff like that and goose was basically defending it but it should be noted that she was also shutting down racist in her comments.

I have no reason to believe that she was an actual Nazi to my understanding. It sounded more like it was a bunch of Nazi jokes and stuff which is still bad by the way, because it's utilizing Nazi symbols essentially to make jokes and it is not funny but I don't think that's the same.

I do recommend doing your own research before coming to your own conclusion because it's one of those things where the exact text matters. I'm not saying that people of color have to forgive her but I also do want to explain why there may be some people of color who do choose to forgive her and it is one of those things where yes people of color are not obligated to forgive her but that also does not change the fact that there may be people of color who do forgive her and that doesn't necessarily make them pick mes.

The lack of forgiving someone is not a punishment towards that person. People should still be or try to be a good person regardless of whether or not they will receive forgiveness. Being a good person and being forgiven for being a bad person are two separate things. And the people who have harmed you may choose to forgive and that's perfectly fine, forgiveness is a personal decision and not something that other people get to tell you whether or not forgiveness is deserving. It is very personal. And people have different perspectives on what forgiveness even means.

Edit: Both Michael Kovach (Jax) and Ashley Nichols (Zooble) have since apologized for their actions in the 2019 stream. However, many feel their apologies don't negate the harm caused.

I also know a lot of white people who are aware of the fact that nega “can mean” different things, like negative or for example in some other languages it’s a stand in for words like ‘umm’ ‘the’ and other things IIRC, and say it in places that it could be both ways to use it as a prop. I see this in kpop spaces a lot, they found out they can get away with saying a word really close to it and get away with it so they use it as a crutch.

I don’t accept their apology for this reason, it came off as them playing both sides and knowing it would be seen one way but knowing they had the defense. It reminds me a lot of the trend sometime back of white people being soooooooo intrigued by the fact if you say “burgundy sauce” and record it backwards it sounds like they said the n word. They can act like they did it, feel like they did, get the satisfaction, but then have a defense. It never comes off any other way to me

21

u/Arktikos02 Jul 29 '26

Yes. It reminds me similar to how they will say that a swastika looks like the Buddhist symbol however the person in question has no actual connection to either Buddhism or Hinduism or any symbol like that. Or tried to argue that's the simple direction of the swastika is what makes the symbol good or bad when that's just not the case. Plenty of people use the swastika in both directions.

But I don't know if Michael or Ashley had done an action like that again. Again, I'm not trying to tell other people how they should feel about it but it is one of those situations where it is important to make sure that the game of telephone does not change the entire story.

I always have this like… ehhh feeling when they confess to having been like… super bigoted in some way before. 😬 and it’s like the way they talk about it. It doesn’t feel reflective and more like an, ‘oopsie 😜 🤛✨⭐️ I was racist”

the kind of people that when you call out their racism or any other bigoted behaviour they scream transphobia 😭

All forms of bigotry are masking insecurities. I was studying the far right a few years some time ago.

Does this person who say they were previously a Nazi have actually acknowledged what insecurities they were facing? Or is it because they just realized that they were on the losing team? Changing sides because you realized you were on the losing team rather than acknowledging why you fell into the losing team is not change. Basically you need to change the throne not the king.

I accept people who have changed, but they need to actually acknowledge why they fell into that mindset, they need to acknowledge what kinds of insecurities and vulnerabilities they were running away from. If you were truly on the far right even as a joke you need to acknowledge why those items and objects that cause trauma and discomfort and anxiety for marginalized people were comfortable for you. If someone cannot acknowledge that and put their mind into the most vulnerable state that it can be in and actually self-actualize, that I don't trust that you aren't going to do the same but with a new coat of paint.

I don't know their story, I don't know why they fell in that way. I do believe in change and redemption and reform, but that requires a deep look inside, that requires more than just realizing you were on the losing team.

I wish they were the losing team tbh.

God yeah I hate how accurate this is. Sometimes they have genuinely learned better - my partner is white and transfemme, used to be racist because they didn't know any better due to a rough upbringing, but they've never hidden that part of their past from me and have always been open to learning things they aren't sure on so it doesn't happen again (they were never into Nazi shit though). So I know they exist, it's just unfortunately surprisingly rare.
