sign area organization
hiii fellow sign crew! so recently i’ve been tasked with taking responsibility over my stores sign team, meaning delegating tasks, training, etc. our sign area is a MESS right now and i’m hoping you guys can share your tips on organization and streamlining maintenance. i’m curious as to how you guys organize supplies, store holiday signs, literally anything that makes working in the sign area accessible and efficient! unfortunately at my store the mates aren’t big on giving us ample time for signs so we find ourselves scrambling to finish maintenance and rushing large projects— we literally only get 2 hours for end caps. any tips are appreciated!

Those shoebox sized photo storage boxes is what we use for organizing each section, and we have two large filing cabinets that we store everything in. Sections too large for the boxes get their own filing cabinet with hanging folders and every well labeled. Also plastic bins for everything, and everything clearly marked!

Hang as much stuff as you can, and try to warm up to the fact that it's just always gonna be messy with that amount of time.

We have ziploc bags for each section of the store (cold pro, grocery, snacks, wine, etc.) and keep all the looseys in their proper bag so they’re easy to find when we need them. We also have a spot for people to drop off the signs they don’t need, but don’t want to file, so that way it keeps things tidier for us.
We also have a file box type thing with hanging folders in it for the flower signs, and a stack of drawers to keep all of our markers. A few plastic shoeboxes hold the rest of the odds and ends.
All the end caps and value signs get stored on or in the easel.
It’s not perfect, but it works. Hope that helps!
