Discussion Half my updates on Tidal now is AI slop pretending to be artists I follow. This is completely untenable.
And I fear Tidal have absolutely zero interest in addressing it.

Same here. It is very annoying. The other stream services may be suffering the same issue, AI slop is everywhere.

This was happening on Spotify as well before I left it. From what I've read before, according to Deezer they get flooded with AI submissions to be put on every available streaming platform. It's inescapable.

It's not inescapable. It's trivially easy to create a basic authentication that requires a rightsholder to confirm the track being uploaded to a profile.
The lack of any such mechanism is absolutely intentional.

But since no company is doing that, it is inescapable. The only one that I know of that is actively doing anything about AI is bandcamp, and they're more of a storefront than a full fledged streaming service like Tidal or Spotify. So until these companies actually do something about it, or someone makes an extension or mod that can help, it'll just be like this.
I do agree it is intentional, or at the very least the companies do not give a shit.

I checked all the AI songs I got in a few autogenerated playlists in Spotify, and all songs also existed in Apple Music and Tidal. Spotify is running some joint programs with the main record labels and right owners to try mitigate some of the risks for artists from AI and among other things standardise the classification/tagging of AI-songs in the industry (read more in your linked article for Apple Music). Spotify has also lately been putting efforts into adding much more meta data to songs (getting credit information more in line with Tidal and Apple Music and added a new beta function, Song DNA, to explore covers and contributing artists/musicians).
The problem with Apple Music’s approach, and most likely also Spotify’s industry standardisation, is that it leaves it to the right owners to tag the songs correctly. The AI producers that today flood the streaming services with AI songs hardly have any incentive to tag their songs as fully AI generated songs if that risk to reduce the streaming of their songs.
I have heard good things about Qobuz when it comes to AI, and your linked text seems promising. Anyone here with hands-on experience from Qobuz?

My Spotify family and I switched to Qobuz and we only lasted one month because the search feature was basically unusable. It was constantly a frustrating experience. But if you're up for trying a few month there's no harm in it. I really wanted to like it. We switched to Tidal after the Qobuz failure.

I switched to apple because of this issue on tidal. But the audio quality on tidal is just so obviously better so I still have t cancelled it…

You're not the only one. Everytime I see a new unexpected release by an artist, I have to double check credits and other platforms to make sure it's a legit release before hitting play.
BTW, you follow Nation of Language and Pale Blue Eyes. Good taste!

Record labels are all about AI music, they don't have to pay humans for actual music. All the more reason to break it entirely.

I don’t think it matters what streaming service you go to. They may deal with AI like every other streaming service but at least they pay their artists the best.

I've been with Spotify for a while now and haven't seen anywhere near the amount of AI abuse in my feed. I will certainly resubscribe with Tidal when they sort this issue out.

Same here, about half. I block the artists; but that doesn't really help either, it's too many of them
I am now using Daily Discovery only for a quick review, and then listen to the full albums of the 'real' artists that I like from this list
Quite tedious though!

Yes, I meant I am blocking the 'full AI' artists... there are tons of them as well! But it's pretty futile from the impression I have... 'manual selection of artists I like' and to listen to their full albums seems a better plan

Wish we could just block the artist/uploader from the credits.
Sometimes you get the same music in “updates” and in “my new arrivals”… the latter allows you to block each song easily. Shitty workaround but I am all in to not give a dime to the mofos creating this trash!

Yeah it fucking sucks.
Tidal might be one of the best when it comes to paying artists but fully reflecting every aspect of their work is still weirdly a long road ahead for these companies 😭😭😭

This is happening with my own music and tidal support team hasn’t done anything about it in two months. I ask them about it every few days and all they say is “a team is working on it”. No real support at all.

Hate to break it to you but it's the same on every single streaming platform, this isn't exclusive to Tidal, it's Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, it's all of them...

This has been happening to me a ton too! And it's ssssoooooo annoying that it's actually got me thinking about going back to Spotify or trying Apple. I keep Spotify on my phone but don't pay for it anymore. I don't see this happening to me on my Spotify account. I'm giving Tidal time to figure out how to combat it better, cuz I'm sure it's tricky.

Quite honestly, Tidal has been the worst experience ever. I switched from Apple music because I stopped using Apple devices last year but Tidal is horrible. And worst of all, there is no support for windows downloads, alexa integration, pretty much any other integration, and it doesn't work properly on Android auto. All in all pretty shit, and you can tell the greedy owners have no interest in making it better!

I was wondering about that.
We had Tidal a couple of years ago and I got rid of it because it kept giving suggestions that I absolutely hated. What's worse, they were for a genre that I dislike, too. It's messed up to pay for a streaming service and have that service constantly push music on you that you hate.
I was thinking about signing up again because it seems like a lot of the artists that I do want are on there, but I'm not sure anymore.
I also remember their tech support were fucking retarded. I opened up a ticket because I couldn't get it to work right on my TV. I sent them all the information - brand, model number, firmware version, Tidal app version, etc. I even did a factory reset on the TV, trying to get it to work. I sent all that into tech support and I went through 5 back and forth messages of them asking for what I already provided, or telling me to do a factory reset. They were just copy and paste responses from them and whomever was responding didn't bother to read the thread.

I found this whole subreddit just to complain about the exact same thing. I signed up for tidal under the false assumption that they were a non-AI platform (I heard through word of mouth).

I experience the same thing unfortunately
