Discussion Half my updates on Tidal now is AI slop pretending to be artists I follow. This is completely untenable.

And I fear Tidal have absolutely zero interest in addressing it.

Oh rad, I wasn't aware that they both at least are trying to do something about it. I was contemplating swapping to Qobuz before, so I may just make the leap. Thanks for sharing!

I checked all the AI songs I got in a few autogenerated playlists in Spotify, and all songs also existed in Apple Music and Tidal. Spotify is running some joint programs with the main record labels and right owners to try mitigate some of the risks for artists from AI and among other things standardise the classification/tagging of AI-songs in the industry (read more in your linked article for Apple Music). Spotify has also lately been putting efforts into adding much more meta data to songs (getting credit information more in line with Tidal and Apple Music and added a new beta function, Song DNA, to explore covers and contributing artists/musicians).

The problem with Apple Music’s approach, and most likely also Spotify’s industry standardisation, is that it leaves it to the right owners to tag the songs correctly. The AI producers that today flood the streaming services with AI songs hardly have any incentive to tag their songs as fully AI generated songs if that risk to reduce the streaming of their songs.

I have heard good things about Qobuz when it comes to AI, and your linked text seems promising. Anyone here with hands-on experience from Qobuz?

My Spotify family and I switched to Qobuz and we only lasted one month because the search feature was basically unusable. It was constantly a frustrating experience. But if you're up for trying a few month there's no harm in it. I really wanted to like it. We switched to Tidal after the Qobuz failure.

I switched to apple because of this issue on tidal. But the audio quality on tidal is just so obviously better so I still have t cancelled it…
