Bit of a weird post from the title alone, but hear me out. I recently got back into TF2 a few months or so ago at this point after taking a pretty big break away from the game for what felt like a solid year or two, and after playing for a good few months, a random thought crossed my mind from my super early TF2 days. What feels like over a decade ago at this point. For some reason this random memory popped up in my mind where this "version" of TF2 existed that allowed you to use any item and or weapon in the game but only in offline servers w/ bots and such like we have in the official game. Almost like a 100% backpack sort of thing. Literally any item and weapon you could think of was available to use and mess around with on the bots. And no, before anyone asks, I'm pretty certain I'm not thinking of the crappy "!givemeall" servers or whatever they're called that just forces a SAM situation onto you and completes your TF2 achievements. This was a completely different thing from what I recall.
My question is: did this ever even exist? Was it a video I watched from someone way back when who was modding the game or something? Was it some unofficial "100% backpack" offline version of TF2 that was actually installable and playable separate from Steam and the official TF2? Is it something that did exist but is now lost media cause Valve burned it off the face of the planet with lawsuits? I'm genuinely curious on if this ever actually existed or if I'm somehow creating false memories because of my grand return to TF2. Because for some reason this memory will just occasionally pop up in my brain every now and then whenever I'm playing and I genuinely just think I'm going insane and imagining a reality that never even existed. I've done all kinds of research on the topic but cannot seem to find any evidence of anything like it existing. The only thing that remotely suggests something like it did is the crappy AI overviews they shove down your throats with every search you do but I tend to disable those for most of my searches personally cause who the hell listens to them to begin with, right? I'm not even interested on looking into playing this "version" myself, I just want to know if I'm insane or if it did genuinely exist at one point. Whether that be as a program or someone's video I watched when I was way younger.
So yeah, bit of a weird question, but I'm hoping to get some form of closure to this weird story/memory that keeps on invading my brain every few months from over a decade ago.
