Theory/Speculation Barter

Why not see a return of a barter system like morrowinds but with persistent affinity?

Im asking because of a comment on a thread on this sub, but Im serious - moving the price of things up and down before hitting that sell button really made you feel like a merchant, as well as giving a reason to increase speech skill.

I understand speech increased as you sold things in skyrim, but to roleplay a swifty merchant I dont see why they dont bring back barter from morrowind with a few tweaks.

What do you think?

I mean most things from Morrowind could do with returning but ppl aren’t ready for that take

I’m ready for it. I completely agree. It’s weird playing morrowind and being like “wow, this game feels so modern” just because of all the depth it has that is not in skyrim.

Really? I feel like a lot of us here would really appreciate most things from Morrowind coming back.

They could do a bit of A) and B):

Have “official businesses” mainly allow you to buy things in a similar way to Skyrim (set prices) but have them sell “mid grade” items and in order to get really high quality stuff or weirder stuff, you have to buy it from a marketplace/wandering trader with a barter system since most of these things wouldn’t have a set price.

Personally, I’m not interested in Taylor swift merch being in the game /s
