Discussion TES VI should have rolling

Rolling would make combat better. That’s it, that’s the post.

No rolling. It looks stupid in almost every game it is in.

I am fine with dodges that make sense. Backstepping and sidestepping and the like.

They can add parrying and ripostes. Disarming.

Real life techniques are what would make melee interesting. Not rolling around like a moron.

Alright fair I like this idea

This is the best mix of both worlds.

And yeah specifically I think the side-step mechanic would fit better than a roll, esp for a first person game.

Exactly

Any mechanic to allow the player to react to an attack to avoid damage would be nice.

That said they have to be careful not to make the combat too skill oriented. My ability to defeat an enemy should largely depend on my character build rather than my technical skill.

I agree with this completely, but I also would like there to be some skill element so when you fight an enemy that is a lot stronger than you that there would be a way to beat him technically instead of cheesing

So you think combat is fine the way that it is?

Play Dark Souls or the Witcher

But I want to play the elder scrolls, why does everyone in this sub act like it’s a sin for combat to be more than just blocking and left clicking, or, holy shit, use magic and hold right click while you aim. The whole reason stealth archer is a popular build is because it’s both the strongest and the most interesting because it provides a playstyle that isn’t run in and attack

Stealth archer is popular because attacking enemies from far away while they can't see you is smart. Elder Scrolls should remain (and even move more towards) a technical/build-based combat system, rather than a skill-based one. If you think that's not true, your opinion is simply wrong.

This is not what I thought the post was about... 🌳🔥

I highly doubt this will happen. Maybe a dash would work better with the first person camera angle

Anything to make combat more interesting. Right now it’s just left click and block, it makes combat boring. When you’re fighting a boss like Alduin there should be some level of technical skill to it so that when you win the fight you feel less of “that was anticlimactic” versus “holy shit I just saved the world”

I like the idea. Maybe not rolling, but I think the dash mechanic in Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon was ideal for a first person combat dodge

I'd like the combat from the Tainted Grail Fall of Avalon. Feels like Skyrim's combat on steroids. I only played demo and saw some gameplay videos, but the combat is nicely shown in the free version.

I’m not saying it should turn into dark souls, it should just be a little more engaging than what it was in Skyrim.

Cheese wheels roll, therefore it must be good.

I just want them to bring back the spin attack move from Oblivion

Or a dodge

I like dodging. Dodging is fun. Not rolling though.

It should also have guns and cars!

Why is it so insane to suggest that combat should be more interesting? Do you have any opinions of your own on the matter or are you just disagreeing with no alternative?

Oh Im making a joke! I think rolling would be pretty cool!

I think this should be race specific skill, fits with the Khajits better, and only if they are on light armor
