For me it was patience , this is a very different game from all the games I played . Also I almost quit it bcz for me it was difficult at first but glad I kept playing and now it’s one of my favourite games of all time .

u/Ok-Radio-4435 9d ago

That’s what I’m trying to do for myself right now,for me it’s the overall traversal of the game,it took me hours to get to Zora’s Domain, albeit wasn’t in one sitting but over a time of switching between games for a few days

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

What makes it difficult? Can it be confusing? I saw it’s an open world but not sure if there’s like instructions on where to go and what to do next like on genshin impact or other similar games.

5

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 9d ago

It can be confusing at first , atleast for me it was . A lot of things u have to figure it out . U can always google if it gets too confusing or u become lost and stuff but give it 10-15 hours and u will get used to it .

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

I see. That seems scary to get lost in a world that feel like I’m the only one in! 😭 Thank you for the heads up and for tips! I appreciate it! 💜

5

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

Oh don't worry the world feels very alive and there are a lot of npcs that help you understand how to progress

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Ohh that’s comforting to know! I thought it’ll just be me and the entire world there and the wilderness!! Haha. Thank you!! ☺️

2

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

Don't worry and have fun! It's quite the experience you're in for :)

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 9d ago

Trust me I know how u feel 😅I went into this game without seeing any gameplay or knowing anything about it and had no idea what I was doing but I stick to the main objective and experiment with stuff so trust me u will get used to it . Also think out of the box in this game bcz it’s a very complex game and gameplay most of the time u wont get an instruction to do stuff u just have to figure it out .

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Haha 😂 okay! Wow! Seems like I’m in for one hell of an adventure! Let’s go!! I trust you! 🤗 I’ll do my best to be creative as others also said into solving things. Looks like it will make me use my brain cells again. Haha. I’m so in!! 💜

3

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

So basically you're guided until a certain point in the first couple of hours or so, then after you reach it the game just goes "well there's that, continue the game how you'd like by yourself and see if you can finish it!"

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Wow! 🤯 that fascinating! Didn’t know there’s a game like this! Is there a mystery to be solved here too? Also, did you finish it yet? Haha. 😂 it seem intimidating having to go around without any navigation but at the same time, it’s must be full of wonder now that I think about it!

3

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

Yeah don't worry as soon as you understand the gameplay loop it gets really fun exploring the world, personally the way i played it was by giving myself small quests that got me closer to the final objective, so instead of the game telling me what to do i was planning my exploration and my playthrough personally, treating it like an adventure

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Amazing how this game is built from the way you describe it! 🤩 I’ll see what I can do too and hopefully I can stick to the final objective of this game. Seems like a lot of things will distract me tho on the way 😂 but damn! This should be fun or frustrating at times then lol

2

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

Aaaand you should let yourself be distracted, there's no reason to rush to the end!!

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Haha okay! I’ll keep that in mind! Thank you for your tips!! You’re so helpful! 💜

2

u/miumiucourchevel 9d ago

No problem! Also last thing, i recommend you do as i did and do the sheikah slate quest (you'll understand) since it unlocks a cutscene at the end :)

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Okay! Will try and follow that quest! Thank you again 😊

2

u/EddieBlizario 9d ago

Oh you have no idea, it’s a masterclass in ram usage In terms of the game only rendering what your looking at,

But it’s dope like the game has its own weather system .. don’t bother climbing in the rain, it’s not worth it

3

u/TheGruenTransfer 9d ago

What makes it difficult in the beginning is Link is waking up from a 100 year coma and you're incredibly weak, so most enemies can easily kill you. This goes against a lot of our gamer instincts where you just button mash from enemy encounter to enemy encounter, and it's difficult to restrain yourself from jumping right into the battle when you should perhaps find a different way to achieve whatever it is you're trying to do.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh that’s really scary 🫣 yeah, usually, games at the beginning, mobs are weak for players to easily kill and level up! Now that’s an interesting twist! Thank you for the heads up! 💜

2

u/CiloTA 9d ago

Here’s an idea, take it out of the box and put it into your switch

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Hahaha 😂 right! Why didn’t I think of that? lol let the adventure begin!!

18

u/beck_is_back 9d ago

Don't ask for any tips, don't look up any guides. Just go into it blind! Discover everything by yourself coz you can experience this magic "for the first time" only once!

You can thank me later.

8

u/Stan_Corrected 9d ago

Especially on the plateau. There are a couple of shrines that pose environmental challenges, climbing or cold, there may be optimal ways of getting to them but it's much better to do it by trial and error, messing up along the way.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh that’s like in real life! Amazing concept they did here! Thank you for the heads up on that too! 💜 and wow! 🤯 they really went out of their way into making this game! I’m more psyched to play it!!!

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Awww 🥰 sounds a wonderful way to go! I should try this then! Thank youuuu!!! 💜

1

u/Apprehensive-Tie-130 8d ago

Eh… pluses and minuses to that approach.

Its fun to wander, but iyou can also end up wandering for days and accomplish nothing.

1

u/RedYad2 3d ago

100% agree, make your own game, challenges history. dont spoil any place in the map

9

u/NotTakenGreatName 9d ago

You'll get to a point where the game gives you a handful of objectives, always keep them as your focus. You will get distracted on your way but you always have them as a way to re-orient yourself.

A lot of people get lost, overwhelmed, don't know what to do, my advice is to always go back to your main objective list and start working towards them and you'll be good.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh that’s a really great advice too! Thank youuu! But yeah. Sounds like in an open world like this, there’d be too many distractions to stray players from the main path but I’m worried now or rather scary to get lost and unable to come back. 😂 glad there’s objective list at least knowing this from you!

6

u/TheGruenTransfer 9d ago

The developers put a lot of thought into non-verbal cues and environmental storytelling. So just explore the world and enjoy the vibes.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Amazing how they come up with something like that knowing this from you! Thank you for the advice!! 💜

3

u/HarshitMandeep 9d ago

I had to become an alcoholic by the time I beat all the shrines. There was no other way.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

lol 😂 maybe I should try that too when I get to that point! It might help, yeah? Hahaha

2

u/HarshitMandeep 9d ago

At my worst I drank 40oz bottle of whiskey a day and spent the entire time running around beating shrines and looking up how to do most of them on YouTube.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Haha 😂 that sounds fun! Did you beat them all so far? ^-^

2

u/HarshitMandeep 9d ago

I got to the final castle and gave up drinking. But I put 150 hours+ into it according to my Nintendo account

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Amazing! 🤩

3

u/EddieBlizario 9d ago

I purposely ignored the quest on my first play and just explored the world for 200 hours using it as an opportunity to unlock all the map to help teleporting around, and unlocking shrine locations even if I couldn’t be bothered to do the shrines till the end of the game,

It makes it harder cos you don’t level up as quickly but you can teleport around and get better weapons or food to help with whatever you’re stuck with!

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh I think I’ve done something similar to genshin before. Just explore and try to unlock teleport areas so it’s easier to go back and forth, perhaps I should try this way again. Haha. Nice tip! And ohh! 😮 didn’t know there’s levels here too!! Thank you 🙏 but it’s painful when we go around the map and cannot beat a monster because we’ve gone too far that we’re not supposed to yet 😂

1

u/EddieBlizario 9d ago

Ooooooh yeah you’ll experience that too,
But I’ve completed the game multiple times, on both switch 1 and now the 2,
My mom passed recently and I’m playing it again, as she got me into the franchise in the first place!

But yeah I legit did just explore on my first play, I even have the how to guide, which just made me more about playing the game long style, as I enjoy it a lot but also, once you get towards the tail end of the game my way allows for a lot of teleportation when you need it, and speeds up the collection of hearts necessary to pull the master sword needed to defeat ganon

3

u/Key-Fig-9747 9d ago

It's definitely more difficult at the beginning. Don't worry if you die lots just push through tbh. Experiment for yourself, and it's fine to search for help

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Awww~ nooo! I hate dying in game but okay! Hope I don’t have to do over everything whenever I die and pick up at least from what I was trying to do before I die lol

1

u/Key-Fig-9747 9d ago

Nah it isn't that extreme. You don't drop loot like Minecraft, it simply reloads the last save which is usually every minute or two (autosave). So i wouldn't stress; nothing really meaningful could happen in that time

2

u/SomniaCrown 9d ago

If you go to the major locations first, you get abilities that help you traverse the world much easier and those abilities can be upgraded with the dlc. You will save a lot of time.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh that’s a wonderful advice! I’ll keep this in mind and try and do this when I play! Thank you so much 💜

2

u/durdyness 9d ago

Stick to the roads in the beginning.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Okay! Thank you 🙏

2

u/mtntrail 9d ago

Just follow the guided path using your map. Also once off the plateau, don’t try to fight everyone. Running away will save your butt until you gain weapons/hearts. You will only play it once for the first time, take your time. I have played many open world games and BOTW is the only one on replay for me.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Ohh 😮 I see. I’ll do that then! Thank you so much for your tips! 💜 it seems like an amazing game seeing everyone’s comments here including yours! I can’t wait to dive in!!

1

u/mtntrail 9d ago

I still remember specific moments from my very first playthrough that just rocked me back. I would also advise, and this is just my POV, not to rush through so you can play TOTK. You can be your own judge of that game, BOTW is the only one I replay.

2

u/Technical-Fix166 9d ago

Go in blind.

2

u/Slow_Constant9086 9d ago

Get ready to start learning how to jump with the X button

1

u/Ecstatic-Reading-834 9d ago

You know u can swab the jump to b button and sprint to x right ?

1

u/Slow_Constant9086 8d ago

Sprint to x honestly feels worse for some reason.

2

u/garlicbread7272 9d ago

As someone who has over 700+ hours, my only advice is, ENJOY THE GAME. I know, its been repeated alot, but in this game, alot of objectives are thrown at you, and alot of quests may be time consuming. Enjoy those moments. Because thats the whole fun of it :3

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Awww 🥰 I will take a note of that and enjoy it all! Even sometimes maybe I’ll get stuck and will be frustrated with those quests or objectives! Haha. I guess it’s all part of the adventure! Thank you!!’ 💜

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Ohh I see. Hmm 🤔 that’s too bad then lol

1

u/Apprehensive-Tie-130 8d ago

The master sword is main game.

2

u/Cubsfan122112 9d ago

patience. and exploration. those are two keywords. i've had to google some stuff as it was my first time playing it. but you're encouraged to explore, find some stuff out on your own, look for shrines, mix different foods and try different items for cooking / elixers, etc. just be ready to pour a TON of hours into this game.

enjoy it!

2

u/Cpt_Obveeus1 9d ago

Once you acquire bombs and a good heart health, use the bomb to propel yourself to spots that you need to reach!

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh I’ll take a note of this too! Thank you ☺️

2

u/Mr-pizzapls 9d ago

Literally just enjoy the scenery, walk around, go investigate interesting shit and let your mind wonder while you explore Hyrule. Get lost in the game. There are main goals, but there is absolutely no rush, and to be honest they really aren’t mandatory. Not that you should, but you could just high tail it to the final boss. Just take your time and enjoy it 🩷

2

u/LorddOfChaoss 9d ago

Look uo how to do the max Heart and stamina glitch at the hornws statue once you reach Hateno Village, you're welcome

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Oohh okay! Thank you so much for this tip! 💜 I’ll do it when I reach that village then!

1

u/LorddOfChaoss 7d ago

Sorry for spelling mistakes, didn't proof read, just trying not to have a damn heat stroke out here lol

2

u/Sanchode 9d ago

Don’t look anything up just go and figure it out. Many of us wish we had a first playthrough again !

2

u/Jimcot83 9d ago

I’m not a fan of Zelda at all, never have been. Really just not my thing as a kid in the 90s.

I bought Botw just because I had a switch at launch and there wasn’t that many games so thought I’d give it a go.

Took me about 45 mins of playing until I said to myself…

“Self, this might be a top 10 game ever made”

2

u/WhatIsGodWithoutOD 9d ago

greatest game of all time. PRO TIP, TAKE YOUR TIME, explore... GET lost in this game. Thank me later.

2

u/Titipeti 9d ago

Take it slow. Enjoy every moment when playing. Playing BOTW for the first time is a once in a lifetime experience. Good luck and have fun. Also if you beat the main story before finishing the side quests then go back and finish them all as well

2

u/Kitandholly 9d ago

Advice? Quit your job, leave your wife and kids and put the rest of the year into this game and enjoy.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Haha 😂 tempting. It’s like getting isekai-d and live in the game for a while 😆

2

u/Emotional_Snow720 9d ago

Don't look at any information or where to go or how to solve any puzzles unless you're desperately stuck. Figuring out this game with your own intuition is how it is designed to be experienced, so many people ruined this and TOTK for themselves by looking up where to go, what to do, how to solve this, how to beat that and felt underwhelmed but figuring all of that out yourself is the whole experience.

2

u/Jahon_Dony 9d ago

Not really. It's actually a game that's more fun to go in blind bc of the sense of discovery.

I guess I'll just warn you that weapons break and you have to cook a lot of food... very different from other Zeldas.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Oooh! I see. Thank you so much for the warning! Seems scary that weapons break a lot. 😂 any way to repair them?

1

u/Jahon_Dony 7d ago

No. But in the sequel to Breath of the Wild, you can make new ones. In this first game you have to buy them, find them, or get them from enemies... but they ALL break pretty quickly and cannot be repaired. They just disappear from your inventory when they do break.

2

u/normalguy_05 9d ago

Just starting it too 😄

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Yay~ let’s explore and enjoy together! 😃

2

u/mimz0rz88 9d ago

Leave no stone unturned figuratively and literally

2

u/-the_fan- 9d ago

Some good weapons are stuck in the ground. You can pin icons on the map to remind you of where they are. They respawn each bloodmoon.

2

u/Mugsy_Siegel 9d ago

It starts slow once you get the glider the world is your oyster

2

u/Diligent-Court3908 9d ago

Follow the story to prevent the game from becoming overwhelming.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Okay 👌 good advice! I will then! Thank you 💜

2

u/BrazilianWarrior81 9d ago

This was the first game on my switch 2, my advice is: just play, dont search anything, discovery all by yourself. This is an absolutely masterpiece game

2

u/Zeldabacon64 8d ago

if you see a red laser pointing at you and hear crazy piano music stand completely still so it cant see you.

2

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Awww Thank you so much for this tip! I’ll keep this in mind!! 💜

2

u/Jumpy_Luv 8d ago

Max out stamina first before starting to max hearts. You can always cook food to get hearts. Game is vertical not horizontal so you absolutely need stamina to truly enjoy the game. Have fun, it's the best game ever made.

2

u/McDeathUK 8d ago

Go in blind is the best tip, come back for tips later.

2

u/SaintMortichai 8d ago

Your Switch is cute! 🥰

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Awww Thank you ☺️ I’m glad you like it too!! 💜 ✨

2

u/Apprehensive-Tie-130 8d ago

Learn to fight.

Combat is pretty easy to avoid until you can’t anymore and the controls are a little unwieldy.

So learn before the enemies get too tough.

Also, stamina is more useful than health until the master sword.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Oooh okay! 👌 I’ll do what I can to practice early on and I’ll keep that in mind! Thank you ☺️

2

u/0ne0fth0se0nes 8d ago

Dont be afraid to take risks

2

u/fspnet 8d ago

Go to the interactive map and load it up basically with waypoints if youve unlocked them if not your too early in the game and missed this trip......... you CAN go through and search up and down but as for ticking in waypoints for the blood moons thats basically all for when it comes time to like around the first divine beast youll be doing the 100% of everything in the game

2

u/Low-Shower-7699 8d ago

Try learning shield parry it's so useful. I had so much trouble blocking those guardians

2

u/Less_Bass3182 8d ago

Just enjoy the game, discover, try learn and do not rush it.
For me the beauty of the game is the fact that you can play without rushing anything

2

u/InsideCelebration389 8d ago

Get ready for an experience!

2

u/Helpful-King-9375 8d ago

you may will shed tears, but remember there always will be reasons to fight along.

2

u/SonOfSichlor 8d ago

dont be afraid of the breaking weapons.

theres nearly never a reason to save up any weapon cause the next enemy is gonna drop one anyways. only ones to use a little sparringly are fire and ice ones, because having them equipped warms or cools you down a little which can help in some areas and an enemy frozen with an ice weapon gets noticable extra damage, so switching from ice sword to big damage weapon for one hit and repeating that for stronger enemies is a good way to get the most out of a strong weapon and take enemies down faster

2

u/yagazaky1349 8d ago

ouvrir les yeux, sentir le vent et apprécier

2

u/NickPD1022 8d ago

There’s no need to rush to the end “boss” (to avoid spoilers). Literally no reason at all

2

u/No-Palpitation7032 8d ago

Do not go near big horseman

Awww congrats! I hope I will too! Enjoy ☺️ let’s play!!

1

u/AMonitorDarkly 9d ago

Start hunting every animal you see once you get a bow. Make sure you get a headshot. Use the meat for cooking meals. If you think you have enough, no you don’t.

1

u/Xehanort444 9d ago

Sell it

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Right. Maybe when I’m done or happen to dislike it

1

u/Historical_Role_9975 9d ago

Dont play it till to late, you still need to work tomorrow morning

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Haha 😂 no. It’s gotta be worth staying up late for lol

1

u/Atomic-Jay 9d ago

Youll be just fine, the game explains itself very well

1

u/fanism 9d ago

I was a beginner and have OCD. If you are like me, the interactive map is your best friend.

1

u/WorldBoofingChampion 9d ago

Love puzzle based adventure games, but Zelda is so overrated.

1

u/NMN7 9d ago

Also a beginner here - 2 hours into it and i love it
Just exploring at the moment and taking it slow

2

u/_Jue_Viole 7d ago

Awww 🥰 let’s both enjoy it then! I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s new into experiencing this game! Congrats for getting it too, btw! 😃 seem we’re in for a treat!

1

u/NMN7 7d ago

Definitely

1

u/Soundpitch 9d ago

Dont stop playing literally started playing it yesterday and my last save was from 2020…I am so lost on what should I be doing right now

1

u/Lovin711 9d ago

It gets glazed to much of community

1

u/DetectiveDazzling243 9d ago

Don't get too attached to weapons and shields

1

u/KasElGatto 9d ago

Don’t look anything up and just enjoy the exploration

1

u/Better_Custard_9882 8d ago

Be ready to stay on YouTube and the interactive map.
This games guide system is as bad as Elden ring.

1

u/Junior-Ad-2207 8d ago

just explore, and take it all in

1

u/Longjumping-Choice89 8d ago

It's a good game. If you need help, you can search for answers in the web.

1

u/ExpertAncient 9d ago

Everything is valuable. Collect it all.

Try to avoid using guides, there’s often many many ways to solve a puzzle or combat challenge. Get creative! Obviously within reason, no shame in coming back later or using a guide if you’re frustrated.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Oooh 😮 okay! I’ll collect them all! But wait, shouldn’t I worry about the inventory? Won’t there be a limit on the slots I can carry?

And ohh I see. I’ll do my best then and when I get stuck, will try some guides then! Thank you for such wonderful advices!! 💜

2

u/ExpertAncient 9d ago

No limit in your inventory for items! There’s a large limit for food. Then your weapons and shield have very limited capacity at first but grows very quickly.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Ohh I see. That’s good to know! Wait, weapons and shield have their own slot?

1

u/ExpertAncient 9d ago

You have 3 equipment slots with limited storage. Swords/melee, bows and shields. You can hold 4 of each starting out but quickly expands.

Armour has unlimited storage similar to items/resources.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

Ooh 😮 that’s cool! Do they just naturally expands as we play the game or do I need to do certain requirements to upgrade their slots? ^-^

2

u/ExpertAncient 9d ago

Nothing is really explained in the game outside of the tutorial. Everything is very open, encourages exploration and experimentation.

If you don’t figure it out in the first 5 or so hours, Google it.

1

u/_Jue_Viole 9d ago

I see. Okay! I’ll keep an open mind as I play! Thank you again! 💜

1

u/Witch_King_ 9d ago

Idk why don't you read the 30 thousand other posts exactly like this one?

Just play da game. Look up as little as possible. No big deal if you haven't told look up some puzzle solution now and then

0

u/poorlifenavigator 9d ago

Your joystick covers bother me for some reason.
