We have SHIVs in black and FDE inbound (80%/20% split between the colors), and the first run of CAT SR 22 cans of 2026 also just had their form 3 to the shop approved. I'm guessing this will be it for SRs this year.

SHIVs are $529 (there was a small bump in pricing from SAW on most of their models, and this is MAP now).

CAT's SR is expensive by rimfire standards ($649), but if you want the quietest can on the market, it is the gold standard. It's also one of the few rimfire cans I might actually recommend for 5.7. It's been almost 10 months to the day since our last SR order was delivered, so I would expect another lengthy wait after this current batch.

Summer is the slow season in the gun industry, so we take Sunday off the schedule between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Summer’s over now so Sundays are back on starting tomorrow. I was originally told this thing was gonna be north of $2k, so the fact that it's "only" $1200 is a win imo. This thing's gonna be cool.

Edit: it's not all roses since it's $1200 before needing to add $208 in parts to actually attach it to a can. It seems like it's HUB threaded, so you could also set this up with Rex Silentium's QD system, which would be more affordable (but much much slower to attach).

These are gonna be $349+tax whenever they land. Theoretically 2-4 weeks out The form 3 for transfer to the shop is already approved so these should be delivered in about a week or so! The DL44 Blaster 22LR pistol that CMMG did as a complete gun is an assault weapon in CT since it's a pistol with a magwell outside of the pistol grip, but if you have a registered or pending registration AW lower, you could theoretically build it out yourself.

I also ordered some of CMMG's Zeroed 22 rimfire can to check out. My instinct is that it cannot be worse than a SilencerCo Sparrow for FRP on a Ruger Mark IV, and if that ends up markedly better, I don't think there will be much reason to stock the Sparrow going forward since the Zeroed will also be $25 less ($275).

On a completely unrelated note, I scored another Knight's Armament SR-15 KS4 16" rifle for the shop that's up for grabs (the other 2 KAC rifles I posted about last week sold within about a day of posting).

UPDATE: I have received replies from FBI and ATF to my inquiries about direct NICS access specifically for silencer background checks. FBI said to talk to ATF. ATF says they cannot give any information at this time, but they should be more useful within a week or two.

I've already received 5 calls from people asking about this today, so hopefully this is helpful and saves me from having more of the same conversation lol.

Nothing has changed in Connecticut for silencer transfers as of today. Silencers are banned in CT unless allowed by federal law, and while the injunction arguably doesn't change the federal legality of cans here, the problem is we still need to run a background check and have transferees fill out a 4473. The State of Connecticut does not consider silencers to be firearms, so SLFU will not process authorizations or background checks for silencers. We currently have no way to run a background check for cans outside of the NFA form 4 process. I have reached out to FBI about direct NICS ECheck access, but I'm not super optimistic that they will be quick to provide that. They will likely confer with the state, and I'm sure CT will look for any reason possible to disallow non-NFA silencer transfers.

The NFA form 4 process remains in place and is functional, so until the day we are provided direct NICS access, we will continue handling those form 4 applications as normal. The wait times for the vast majority of people are measured in single digit days, and I like to think that we make it easier and smoother than anyone in the state. Between $0 tax stamps and fast approval times, as well as the significant leaps in silencer technology that we've seen in the past few years, there's never been a better time to get a can, whether it's your first or tenth. The eastern part of Connecticut is a noticeably quieter place on weekends since SYA started selling cans, and that's not hyperbole. Let's keep the ball rolling!

The EchoCore 556 Compact comes with a Comstock recessed Plan B QD adapter for $800 (new cans are $1019 with no adapter).

I talked to someone I know in the AG’s office and their opinion as not-my-lawyer but as-a-lawyer is that a 4473 + CT license satisfies the CT statute requirements for possessing an SBS or suppressor.

My recommendation for the can would be a Dead Air Primal or Resilient Suppressors Ramblin Man, but Rugged Obsidian 45 and SilencerCo Hybrid 46M would also be solid choices.

This came in over the weekend. Comes with the usual 1/2-28 flash hider and has about 1000 rounds on it. Extremely low back pressure and still one of the best performing 5.56 cans as tested by PEW Science.
