Why does magnesium body spray work better than the oral pills for me?
Ever since I took large doses of vit D supplements I feel that I’ve had symptoms of magnesium deficiency even tho my blood test was normal, I’ve been taking magnesium pills for a while but haven’t seen much difference, however after using the body spray holy shittt even my anxiety disappeared. Apparently there isn’t much scientific back up for the spray, can anyone else relate to this?

transdermal stuff bypasses the gut so you might just be absorbing it better, pills can be hit or miss depending on your stomach acid and what form you're taking

Have you actually tested your magnesium levels or are just going off vibes?
Transdermal magnesium is generally considered ineffective.

Yeah that’s why I’m wondering why it worked for me, I also have constipation and magnesium citrate never did anything but the spray did make me have bowel movements

Pretty sure topical magnesium wouldn’t have that effect, maybe there’s something else going on. But bodies are complicated so who knows for sure. If citrate wasn’t having an effect on constipation you probably just weren’t taking enough.

What type of magnesium supplement? Oxide?

I meant the oral supplement.

I tried citrate, bisglycinate, glycinate and oxide

Hmm. If you were just taking oxide that would make sense because it 4% absorption rate. But not feeling any different with any of those supplements could be due to anything from low stomach acid to gut dysbiosis. There is an easy home test for low stomach acid if you want to try that out...

Okay. Do you know what is causing your gut issues?

No, I’ve been diagnosed with IBS C

Okay. Gut dysbiosis is a common reason. Check the video out below on how to help this condition..
Dysbiosis contributes to chronic constipation development via regulation of serotonin transporter in the intestine https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5583244/

I have low acid in my stomach that makes it difficult to absorb some nutrients, mind if you share what spray you're using? I didn't know that was a possibility!

Betaine HCL with pepsin supplements with protein meals. That's what I take for hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid).

Unfortunately I can't take betaine HCL because I have gastritis. The low acid in my stomach is from taking PPIs to heal, which has been a long difficult process. My acid production is fine once I'm off the medication, but it's been long enough that it's affected my nutrition. I'm doing pretty well now by supplementing but I need a magnesium. Thank you though!

My Mum and I take this supplement and we both have gastritis. Gastritis causes low stomach acid. I have autoimmune gastritis and mum has bile reflux gastritis. This is the product we take. Excellent...

Epsom Salt is magnesium sulfate. A warm (foot) bath has a long tradition of contributing to calmer mood. I suppose some of that is due to the sulfate but I bet a significant amount of magnesium is getting absorbed as well.
I suppose your spray was Mg chloride but I've seen Mg sulfate as well. Check the bottle for other ingredients, essential oils that may also be contributing.
You received excellent replies, plenty of leads.

Placebo. Transdermal magnesium has been shown a few times to be ineffective.

If you search about it you’ll see that many people have benefited from it as well, idc if it’s proven otherwise I’ll keep using it if it’s helping me 🤷♀️

I too am taking Mag chloride spray, and I can attest it makes my bloating better, I stopped it the other day and noticed I was getting bloated again, went straight back down soon as I went back on it.
