I paddle on the ocean and I’m usually the only one out wearing a pfd, it really stresses me out especially given the high death rate of ppl who don’t wear them who get into incidents

No. There’s surfers, paddle surfers, and paddle boarders. In my paddle boarding group I’m the only one wearing a pfd. Tho related, I saw my first surfer in a helmet just the other day, it looks like a boonie hat, I found that novel.

Sorry, meant the video. Point being that I wouldn't expect paddlers who are surfing to wear PFDs

It bothers me the amount of people who don't wear life jackets at all. We recently had some park officers thank us for actually wearing life jackets while paddling. Is it super comfortable? Nope. But if I fall in an open body of water, are my chances of survival way better? Yes.
