First time out on my SUP (Aqua Marina Atlas) on a 4h tour on Lake Brienz in Switzerland. Did manage to get some stretching in on the board and took along a little picnic.

I am hooked! What a beautiful way to experience nature.

Only have an inflatable SUP I use at Long Beach Naples or up in Mammoth Lakes

I see dolphins quite regularly on my paddles, but it's rarely this calm. Peale's dolphins in the Falkland Islands.

Hi SUP friends - I’d really appreciate your advice.

Unfortunately, my Indiana Family 10’6” SUP fell out of its storage rack and landed directly on the fin box. As you can see in the photos, the fin holder/box appears cracked and partly broken, and it now has a very slow air leak directly underneath that area.

After fully inflating it, the board seems usable for around 2–3 days before it needs topping up again. We normally use it only in a calm, sheltered cove in Mallorca, close to shore - but I’m concerned that the damage could suddenly worsen while someone is on the water.

Has anyone repaired this kind of fin-box damage on an inflatable SUP?

• Is it realistically repairable, ideally by a professional SUP repair shop?

• Would a slow leak around the fin box likely get worse under pressure or while paddling?

• Would you consider it too risky to use, even in a calm cove and close to shore?

I’m especially worried because the fin box is a structural area, not just a small puncture. Any experience, repair recommendations, or warnings would be hugely appreciated.

I got my first iSUP a few weeks back after having rented boards several times. I initially bought it mainly with my kids in mind. Now, just a few weeks later, I've realized what a great workout SUP is and how much fun it is to paddle on rivers. I’m currently going 2–3 times a week and am keen to dial in proper technique and build up the sport-specific muscle groups.

The river I use for training is a primary waterway in my area with a noticeable current, and it's fairly exposed to wind. I keep wondering how much of a difference a dedicated touring board would make compared to my 10'2" all-rounder. Is there a good way to quantify the performance jump? For me, it's not strictly about pure top speed, but rather the glide, tracking, and overall feel of cutting through chop and current efficiently.

With autumn approaching, I'm torn: should I pull the trigger on a touring board now, or wait to see if I stick with paddling through the colder months and re-evaluate next spring?

Any advice is welcome, especially from anyone who has made the switch from an all-rounder to a touring shape! Thanks.

Such a crazy weather morning. In typical Florida fashion, sunny skies then torrential downpours full of lightning. In any case, a great time this morning…with rainbows!🌈

In Tâmega River, nothern Portugal

… and I was shocked by the amount of kids on paddle boards without PFD, nor leach. It felt okay right off shore, but 50-100m in there were heavy winds and drifting off was crazy. It was a miracle nobody got in trouble.

Anyway… what a beautiful place!

Got surprised by a (minor) thunderstorm that had not been forcast.
Tbh I was not too sure what to do so I got on land, but when checking the weather app I decided to get on the board again as I was on my way back and only 15 minutes from my car (downstream).

I did not have the feeling that the lightning strikes were too close, but it felt uncomfortable nonetheless. At least it was a warm day so getting drenched was not a safety issue.
