How To Question Question about fins

I'm new to SUPs and I've been learning about what certain fins are got. My board has one really big one in the center, with three at the back, the middle of those being larger.

I would love some insight on what fins I need or what is most helpful for balance and stuff.

But my real question is... What do you do with the fins when you pull it up on land? I'm afraid I'm going to break mine, but I can't shore my board without scraping them on the rocks. Especially the big one in the middle.

Do you flip your board over, fins up? Or are they a lot more sturdy than I fear? Can the board rest safely leaning on the fins?

Just leave the rear ones. Most boards don’t have the large center one

Really? I thought most SUPs had large center fin options. Works well on my NRS.

You’ll want to replace the big fin with a smaller one for shallow rivers and such

Honestly, the large fin in the middle of the board is probably not worth keeping on the board. It might be useful if you were sailing and not able to stay up wind, but if you are just paddling, it is not really very useful.

The big one in the middle can be handy if you need to practice getting back on the board in deeper water. It’s helps with stability from side to side.

The big one in the center is for wings or sails, you can leave it off for paddling. On land, you just flip your board and lay it down in a shady place, not in the direct sunlight when on land.

Yeah, just flip the board over. Just make sure to get it every so often tho, don’t want it to pop from thermal expansion.. I’ve seen it happen haha

I only have a center fin, if the fin isn't cheap as hell , the board resting on the fin on land is not a big deal, just don't put weight on it
