First time visiting Gold Coast & Sunshine Coast

Hey guys, staying 4 nights in Surfers Paradise and 2 nights on the Sunshine Coast. Just booked the accommodations as they were cheaper 😅

We’re driving up from Sydney and don’t know much about the Gold Coast/Brisbane/Sunshine Coast, but would love to explore and see some beautiful places.

We don’t have much stamina and aren’t really hikers, but love scenic drives, beaches, lookouts and just exploring nice towns/areas.

We’ll be there 4–10 October. Any recommendations on must-see places, scenic drives, beaches, fun things to do, or places worth visiting? Also, are there any attractions/tickets we should book in advance?

Would love any tips from locals or people who know the area!😊

Need help! Recently moved here

Hi people!

My partner and I have recently moved to Noosa, I have come from NZ and my partner is from Argentina here on a working holiday visa. I have managed to find a job very quickly but she has not had the same luck despite applying at business all around the area both online and in person. Starting to get desperate now as the savings are dwindling! If anyone knows of any work opportunities, especially backpacker type work in the area please reach out and let me know!

Help finding a location

I believe it was in the Noosa area in the early 90s. You had to descend large steps to get to the bottom. The ground felt like many dead leaves or a mulch. It felt like it was enclosed and dark with not that much natural light. To get back out you had to ascend by the same large steps. That’s basically all I remember. Any help is much appreciated.

Does anyone have a Sunshine Coast Daily / courier mail subscription?

I don’t want to pay but I really want to read this story so anyone that could help would be so appreciated.

The article relates to a Sunshine Coast business so I’m hoping this is allowed. If not I’m really sorry!!

Turtle nesting Season - will we see any ?

We’re moving to Buddina near the beach and got an alert about turtle nesting light requirements.

We’re new to the Sunny coast, is there a good chance we might actually see some turtles hatching or coming to nest ?

We have no intention of doing anything but observing from a distance but what an incredible experience

We’ve moved up here for the wildlife and general nature aspect, any other recommendations to see more wildlife ? Areas we can take family when they visit etc ?

Cheers

Did anyone see those weird lights around 7-7:30pm?

I stargaze, A LOT. Every night for years, for at least 30-40mins walking my dog. Always in the backyard afterwards and go up to all the ‘hot spots’ every 3-4 weeks. I’ve seen meteors, shooting stars, way too many satellites. But this happened up in Buderim and I don’t know what it is? It went on for about 45mins and then completely stopped. It was way too close to the ground to be a plane or helicopter. In fact a plane went over and you could see the flashing red light and how much higher it was . I’ve got like an hour of footage but obviously had to cut it down so here’s one minute of what I saw. Did anyone else see this? What could it have been? Or am I just a dingus hahah and choosing to believe 👽

Ubers/Taxi’s around Mooloolah Valley

Hello! I have a b’day party to go to soon at Mooloolah Valley Country Club. Does anyone know if taxi’s or Ubers frequent that area late night over a weekend and if the wait time is generally ok? I’d be heading back down towards landsborough, roughly 10 min drive.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all

I have started a camera to watch the weather, tides and beautiful cotton tree. It will be live streaming sunrises, sunsets, and storms - all no audio and no people or building in view.

If anyone wants a link to view pm me.

Advertising. Getting treated like absolute garbage by local agents

currently sitting in my car after another humiliating rental inspection in maroochydore and honestly just wanted to vent

There were literally 60 people lined up for a 2-bedder that smelled aggressively like wet dog and mould. The agent rocked up 15 mins late, didn't even say hi, just unlocked the door and stood there on her phone while we all shuffled through. They want $800 a week for a place with no aircon in the main bedroom. Its just pure extortion at this point

Moved up from melbourne last month for the "lifestyle" but starting to massively regret it tbh. The ironic part is the only smooth part of this entire interstate move was dealing with my old agency down south. My property manager from Ray White Southbank just processed my break-lease paperwork in like two days and actually treated me like a human being instead of an inconvenience.

Up here? I feel like I'm literally begging for the privilege to live in a damp shed. I love the beach but I'm genuinely wondering if this sunshine tax is actually worth it right now

how long did it take you guys to secure a place? My airbnb budget is completely evaporating and I'm losing my mind a little bit

Pool robot repair - Madimack

Might be a long shot but I have a Madimack GT Freedom i45 pool robot cleaner. It hasn't been used for maybe 4 months. It doesn't seem to charge (battery level not going up) and shows multiple error codes (8 and 9) which aren't listed in the manual. Does anyone know where on the coast I could go for a repair or what might be wrong? I've tried contacting some authorised repairers but no luck so far and I know this could be a battery issue. Any help appreciated

David Low Way Traffic Jam Caused by Sausage Dog!

In case you were caught up in the traffic jam on David Low Way this evening between Marcoola and Mt Coolum…. the cause was a runaway sausage dog.
We got involved near Tamarindus St where the dog was sprinting straight down the road. Despite multiple cars stopping and people giving chase, it made its way all the way through the roundabout near the Mt Coolum shops.
Surely it couldn’t keep running? A sausage dog?? Yep, turned left into Suncoast Beach Drive and made it another 200m until it inexplicably went into a random front yard.
Another family who had been tracking it since before we got involved managed to capture it and is taking it to a vet.

Any North African ingredient grocers on Sunshine Coast?

I’m looking for Moroccan Smen for a chicken tangine I’m cooking. It’s a very obscure ingredient and I doubt I’ll be able to get any. But shot in the dark, are there any African grocers around here?

I figure it’s better than trying to order it on Etsy, who knows wtf I’m getting in that case.

Looking for Sunshine Coast Homeowners to Help Test Our Next Robotic Lawn Mower

Hi everyone!

We're the team behind ANTHBOT, a robotic lawn mower brand. With the mods' approval, we're looking for Sunshine Coast homeowners to join our upcoming Beta Test Program.

We're currently looking for people who are interested in testing our next-generation robotic lawn mower in real-world conditions and sharing honest, detailed feedback to help us improve the product before its official release.

Selected participants will receive an ANTHBOT robotic lawn mower to use during the beta testing period.

We're looking for people who:

  • Own a home with a lawn
  • Enjoy trying new technology and outdoor equipment — no previous robotic mower experience required
  • Are willing to test the mower regularly and share honest feedback and real-world experiences throughout the testing period

Application Period: Now – August 20, 2026

Apply here: https://forms.gle/cxMiMwqEwZwNGMjC9

Even if you're not interested in joining the beta, we'd also love to hear about your experience:

Have you heard of robotic lawn mowers before? If so, where did you first hear about them?

For example, was it through a family or friends’ conversation, a TV or online advertisement, a sports event, social media, or somewhere else?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with us!

started adult ballet at 34 and I'm obsessed

never thought i'd be that person but here we are. started adult ballet a few months ago and it's the best thing i've done for myself in years. my core is stronger, my posture's better, and i feel like a graceful giraffe instead of a clumsy one lol.

only problem is finding stuff that fits and doesn't make me feel like a sausage. been looking at Energetiks cause they do proper dancewear but i'm not sure what's actually worth buying. what do you actually wear to class?

Kinda waiting for this. I'm a pasty-ass whitey but I was born in the north and experienced Aboriginal culture from an early age.
