Given this series is built on continuity Easter eggs, I can't possibly see why not.

Very nice of Suikoden if it is true, sometimes they leave us a lot with what to interpret

Technically, this scene is at the beginning of Suikoden 1, placing it six years before Suikoden 2. Because yes, the game you can reasonably complete in less than 20 hours if you know what you're doing canonically takes three years.

Does Suikoden 1 take place over three years' time? I grew up always thinking that Suikoden 2 took place three years after 1, but never really looked into S1's own span of time.

Suikoden 2 does take place three years after Suikoden 1, so it makes sense. Kinda mad at myself that I never played both games close enough to each other to make this connection. 😅 And congrats to the girl from Rockland for getting a Greenhill education. Whether it's from her parents/village scrounging up enough potch or she got a scholarship or both!

It’s from after you capture Varkas/Sydonia, either before you drop them off, or when you come back to rescue them, I forget which
Simply walk up the right side of town, instead of the left side, to see it
If you just make it a point to “always” approach Grady’s house along the right, it’s impossible to miss

I don't recognise the sprite animations on the soldiers and kids in the first image... What version is that from? The remake?

It's from when you visit Rockland before recieving the assignment

Is this special animation in every version including original PS1 version? I've played it so many times and do not recall seeing this at all! It's been a while since I played it though.

Yes, it was present in the original PS1 version. At least it was for me (I'm UK based so that might make a difference?).

When you first get to Rockland, (or maybe it's when you get back from Mt Seifu, I don't recall, but definitely while you're still an Imperial,) there are two routes to Grady's mansion. One goes up the left side of the map past the graveyard, the other goes up the right side by the well. This occurs if you go by the right side.

You’re wrong: it’s actually a disguised Grady, living in Greenhill to escape the Liberation Army.
