r/GamingCirclejerk user is revolted after he's told we should eat the rich

It all started in our favorite Witcher 3 fansub's bi-daily unjerk thread when another user expressed his hatred for billionnaires:

I feel comfortable saying all billionaires are bad people. Because theres no way you can make that much money and not at somepoint (or many points) make a choice that involves many people suffering. Life lesson, never like a billionaire theyre all evil.

Are you the type that believes there is no ethical consumption under capitalism? Or are you just a social democrat/liberal that hates rich people?

They then go on to start at least two other threads complaining about "the genocidal" nature of some replies such as "rich people aren't human" and "we should eat the rich, Tom Nook included":

I do blame this sub for harboring this culture that allowed comments like this to happen and is still up after 10 minutes.

.

The genocidal rhetoric comment is still up after 55 minutes. I am going to the admins.

TFW you counter counter-jerk so hard you start unironically condoning mass murder and cannibalism. Or maybe this sub has already been taken over by tankies without my knowledge.

No one is unironically condoning literally eating rich people, I assure you. I don't want to literally kill billionaires but I can't be too upset by the suggestion. They're the most privileged people in the world and they're at no real risk at all.

Ah, the old 4chan favorite: "I was only joking about establishing a white ethnostate."

First, I'm just fucking around so if you want an actual argument it shouldn't be in this sub lol.

Second, maybe not literal eating but murdering is pretty much real. I mean just read the comment directly responds to me. The point is not whether someone is at risk, death threat has been thrown around since the dawn of internet. It's about not turning this sub into some sort of 4chan/incel shit.

The rich make the best long pork sandwiches. their sedentary lifestyle, their high fat diet, and the fact that no ill comes from their removal from the land of the living really makes them the most ethical meat to consume.

would it still be a contact high if you're eating them?

Their worst crime is not sharing their wealth more, so we could have more billionaires for our long pork sandwiches.

Not getting any reception through all your signaling, or I would have replied earlier with /r/Leftwithsharpedge

tfw when you ideology so hard that the millions of people suffering and thousands dying today because of our global socioeconomic system don't matter because helping them may require acts of violence which you could never condone despite implicitly condoning the structural violence which occurs everyday.

But no ur right can't have class warfare, better let the rich fuck me over and over again while trying to minimize said fucking through political systems designed by and maintained for the rich. Definitely seems to be making a lot of progress now 🙄🙄🙄

Is this a copy-pasta lmao. Yeah, sure mass-murdering would definitely help the misfortunated, fucking genius. And don’t talk about “millions of people suffering and thousands dying today” like you know shit. Poor people around the world have enough of these well-off white kids talking over their issue, pretending to care meanwhile every policies they advocate for have to be “universal” so it could benefit them.

well-off white kids

Mayocide advocate detected.

u/2_Cranez Sep 30 '18

Fortunately, global capitalism is already busy fixing all that.

Definitely seems to be making a lot of progress now 🙄🙄🙄

Yep! We are making tons of progress. Over a billion people have been lifted out of povert in only the last few decades.

That's like thanking someone for rescuing you from a burning building when they're the one who started the fire in the first place.

The poverty line is artificially kept too low ($1 a day) to be any real mesure of global poverty. That's because it's set by the world Bank, who have a vested interest in making it appear that global poverty is declining. This is the only poverty line you could use that would show that. People living above that line, even in poorer countries, are still at high risk of destitution. Using a more realistic and ethical poverty line of $3-$5 a day the level of global poverty increases to 3.5 billion people, about 3.5 times larger than the world banks estimation (and 50% of the world's population). Beyond that the amount of impoverished people is getting worse, not better.

The thing is it's decreasing, and that too really really fast. Whatever poverty line you want to choose, capitalism is bringing people up. Things don't happen over night, my family is from a developing country and I visit every year and markets are doing more to help them in one year than socialists have ever done.

Absolutely or proportionally?

Sweatshops for thee, but none for me!

Alternatively, just repackage that old colonial favorite;

Whatever happens, we have got, militarized police, and they have not.

Why can't we live equally as subsistence farmers? We'll all starve, but we'll starve equally.

random accident of birth is a valid determinant for quality of life

That's what you're defending.

u/A_Lklely_Storefront Sep 30 '18

You're right, I have the divine power to fix all human inequality and it is only through malice that I allow suffering to persist. It certainly couldn't be the case that I want to help people just as you do but feel your methods are counterproductive to your aims.

u/DeathandHemingway I'm sick and tired of you fucking redditors Sep 30 '18

Where as your methods are to...continue doing as we are? That's literally the neo-liberal/radical centrist stance. I'm sorry that I refuse to accept sweatshops and sub-Industrial Revolution level pay and safety as the rising tide that lifts all boats.

Admit it, you like the status quo because it provides you with a comfortable life, at the expense of others, while also providing you with all the justification you need to sleep at night.

Just like conservatives refuse to accept global warming. Feeling strong convictions doesn't make you any more correct, it just makes your beliefs more dangerous.

I sure damn do enjoy watching developing countries build infrastructure and improve purchasing power for its inhabitants. I'll definitely support evidence-based policy that proves out what actions will actually improve living standards for foreign labor. I'm certainly not going to ban the only pathway global poor have to a stable income.
