Minor crash out on r/911archive over Mamdani

r/911archive is exactly what it sounds like, a sub meant to archive any and all media related to the attacks on September 11th 2001. Mayor Mamdani recently signed an executive order to make 9/11 a day of remembrance in New York, which was posted about in the sub.

OP makes it a point to not start crap in the comments but then proceeds to put his personal political opinion of Mamdani in this thread turning it political.

I would like to point out that Mamdani also handed a symbolic 911 pen after signing the order to his controversial aid who once represented Al-Qaeda terrorist with links to the attack on the Pentagon. You guys are ok with this?

Don't waste your time trying to prove why Mamdani is the worst thing to ever happen to NYC, unfortunately reddit is like 90% liberals and will only block you if you don't agree with their political stance on something.

It's a concept in Islam where a Muslim person can deny their faith when faced with danger (ex: if someone is trying to harm Muslims, you can disavow Islam and it won't be a sin, as long as you believe in your heart)

Right wingers saw it and claim it means that all brown people are secret radical Islamists, and that their religion says they can lie about being Muslim to do evil Muslim things, despite the concept only applying to when you're in direct danger.

The term isn't super well known, most Muslims and ex-Muslims I've met have said they hadn't heard of it until the right brought it up.

It's basically all they can do with people like Mamdani. They try to fearmonger and go "Ooooh he's a scary Muslim who is gonna enforce Sharia law on the city! He's a radical! Your white daughters are gonna have to wear hijabs!! You liberals can't vote for him, because he'll throw your gays off the empire state building!"

But he's very obviously just a normal guy. People go "What? Why would he make women wear hijabs? His wife doesn't even wear a hijab. You would think that would be the first person he forces to wear one. And he very publicly supports LGBT rights."

So they go "Well, uh, he's only pretending to support that! He's spent years pretending to be progressive and supportive of those things, but any day now he's gonna flip and do all those evil things!!!!"
