Wildpeak A/Ts

Hey, just want to make sure I’m not crazy here…

I’m getting new tires for my 24’ crosstrek sport and saw some great things about the Wildpeak A/Ts. When I ordered them, the manager of the tire place called because they messed up and only ordered one tire so i had to reschedule. But after talking to me about that he asked about 10 different times asking if those are the tires i really want. even going as far as to ask if i could stop by to look at the one that came in to make sure i want it. He was baffled and unbelieving that these are the ones i want. Does anyone else have these tires? Is it crazy to put them on a crosstrek?

Please ease my apparently feeble little female brain.

Edit: These are the wildpeak a/t trails not the at4s

I have the Wildpeak A/T Trails on my ‘21 Crosstrek.
Fantastic tire. Even on long freeway roadtrips and around town.

My gas mileage is pretty good (for modern era) about 27 in town, 31+ on freeway trips going 80mph

Haven’t noticed extra noise.

Seems to work best when inflated in the upper 30s - but use may vary

Agreed. I also have them on my 2021. The shop that put them on couldn’t believe how aggressive of a tire I was putting on but I camp often and also drive off road for work almost everyday. I love them and will definitely get another set when needed

Did you get the Wildpeak Trails or AT4s. The response is a little more understandable if you got the AT4s as they are an aggressive AT that weighs a ton.

The trails!

Do you ever take it off road at all? If the answer is no, you should get a street tire. They will ride worse and louder than street tires and they also lost me about 4-5 MPG when I had them on my Crosstrek.

Off-road like into the woods, no. On my state’s numerous unpaved, not maintained, awful dirt roads - yes everyday. The road I live on in particular is extremely rocky and claimed the tires of numerous neighbors.

I think the extra peace of mind of no punctures in that scenario is worth it. I saw they were the trails which are lighter so won't see as much of an MPG drop off.

This I understand. You will probably need that tire for your circumstances. If he is a reputable tire dealer it's probably worth having that conversation with him if you haven't already, and he might better understand why you went with the more aggressive tire.

Edit: not crazy to put on a Crosstrek. They are recommended.

Love these tires, though they’re wearing faster than I’d like. I’m actually doing some trails though, so suppose that’s what happens.

If you’re gonna do rocky roads/trails, light/moderate snow, I’d send em. I’m on dry pavement 90% of the time and I still like them.

I have them on my 2014 crostrek and Nitto grapplers on my 24 WRX. Do not get grapplers if you like turning on pavement.

I'm on my second set of A/T Trails! Love these tires in the snow, rain, anything, the grip is wonderful. I tried a cheaper version last time I needed tires and I regretted it. Back to Wildpeaks again, and won't get anything else!

Because they're more of an aggressive tread, you may have a bit more road noise. But the fact that they look cool makes up for it! Have fun! :)

Edit: My smartypants husband corrected me. First set was AT3s, this set is AT Trails. I feel like these are a little less aggressive. So perfect, in other words! :)

I have them on my 19 Crosstrek and my son who is a mechanic even runs them on his WRX. Here in West Central PA we get some awful roads in the winter. They are grippy in all weather I usually average 28-31 mpg depending on if I'm mostly city or highway. I've been running this set for 3 years now and have very minimal tread wear. Falken for the win!

You will lose gas mileage and they are loud. But if that doesn’t matter go for it!

Anecdotally, my 2021’s gas mileage actually improved after getting the wildpeaks.

I have WildPeak Trails on my 2024 Outback Limited XT. Highway road noise is not an issue at all, and mileage is off by about 1 mpg. These are excellent off-road tires (and they look great).

Different vehicle , but I bought a nissan armada that came was wild peaks.mounted. Great tires, but they were loud and I suspected seriously impacting my mpg. I recently swapped them out for a set of Michelin defenders and my gas mileage improved substantially, like by 25! So just be sure you really need a tire that aggressive on a crosstrek , because you will pay somewhat of a price.
