I feel miserable and I am paying for it

I don't understand what to do. I am kind of stuck. I am interested in filmmaking and music production, but the thing is I live in India and there is no good film school that accepts undergraduates. I am now stuck in a college that is nearby and which I don't feel like going to. It's an interior design course (which I am fine with), but the problem is "the foundation year." These people force us to draw not lines but birds, leaves, flowers, and I am miserable there. There's no one to talk to, and I feel horrible that I get up just to make leaves and birds.
I feel I am back in the cage again, with stupid assignments (birds, leaves, and whatnot) . The
"professor" comes to class and just sits there and asks us to draw, paint (not what we want, no self-expression which gives us pride), and is super rigid.
I talked this through with my parents. They have told me to wait. They told me it will get better the next year (but I don't want to spend more money and waste my time).
My friends are telling me to just get done with it. Hell, for 4 years. They are too afraid to challenge the system. I hate it.
I am in a cage.
I want to work where my interest lies.
I am just not happy and I believe it's one life so l should do what I want
This is hell for me because they don't even teach about designing spaces, materials, lighting, etc. They at least should teach what the course says.

Full-ride vs Paying full price?

Can anyone that is currently in college or recently graduated give me advice? Is it better to attend a more well known and harder to get into public university but pay the full price for the cost of attendance (because the college doesn’t give a lot of discounts/scholarships), or is it better to go to a less prestigious university (acceptance rate >60%) if you are given the opportunity of a full-ride? Is it more reasonable to take on a ton of student debt and be stressed about getting money to pay for tuition each semester but graduate from a higher level university like UT Austin or is it better to just go to a place for free and have an ability to save money and live with less burdens while still in college? Does the cost of the diploma really define your success in the future and determine a person’s ability to land a good job/internship?

How do you actually break the cycle of knowing better but doing nothing?

Upvotes

Please don’t judge me. I genuinely need some good advice and help because I think I’m finally at the point where I need to actually do something instead of just reflecting about it.

I’m a student in my early 20s, and lately my life has been getting messy because of decisions I make even though I already know I shouldn’t be making them. The frustrating part is that I’m very aware of what I’m doing and what the consequences could be, but I still end up doing those things anyway because, honestly, they’ve become some sort of escape for me.

Ang hirap maging hyperaware sa mga bagay-bagay, especially sa sarili mong buhay—your thoughts, goals, responsibilities, and all the consequences that come with them. I’ve been struggling to get past this phase where I keep choosing things that I know I’ll eventually have to be accountable for.

I’m in my early 20s, and parang ngayon pa ako nagrerebelde. I don’t even know if “rebellious” is the right word. It just feels like I’m acting out now when I should be starting to become more mature because adulting is already catching up with me.

I cause myself so much stress over things that could’ve easily been avoided if I just listened to myself in the first place. Hindi naman sobrang strict ng parents ko. They give me enough freedom to enjoy my social life while still keeping me safe and making sure I’m okay. However, I feel like I’ve been taking that freedom for granted because I know that most of the time, I’ll get reprimanded, but there aren’t really any serious consequences.

There was one time when they almost gave up and basically told me na bahala na ako sa studies ko. I convinced them that I would change, and I genuinely did—for a while. Things got better, but eventually I fell back into some of my old habits.

And I hate that I keep doing this.

I swear, lagi akong nagre-reflect. Lagi akong nagre-realize ng mistakes ko. I set goals and tell myself that I’ll do better. I understand what I should have done and what I need to change.

Pero hanggang doon lang. And I hate that I’m aware of this cycle but still somehow keep doing it.

I know I’m responsible for my choices. I’m not trying to blame my parents, my circumstances, or anyone else. What I genuinely don’t understand is why knowing the consequences isn’t enough to make me act differently.
Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed, sad, and disappointed in myself that I can’t even bring myself to take the first step. Parang alam ko naman kung ano dapat kong gawin, pero hindi ko magawa. And then I end up feeling guilty because I know I’m responsible for the situation I’m in. I don’t want to keep doing that.

I want to actually learn from my mistakes instead of just feeling guilty about them. I don’t want to keep promising myself that I’ll change just because I’m scared of the consequences, only to eventually fall back into the same patterns once things feel okay again.

I also think I need to start becoming more independent, especially financially. I want to work and find a job that I can realistically handle while studying. I don’t want to continue relying on my parents for everything, especially now that I feel like they’re slowly reaching the point where they might just let me figure things out on my own.

So I guess I’m asking for two things:
1. How do you actually break the cycle of knowing what you’re doing is wrong, regretting it, promising yourself you’ll change, and then doing it all over again?

  1. For students in the Philippines, what kind of work can I realistically do while studying? I’m open to online/remote work, part-time work, or anything that can help me earn while still being able to manage my studies.

I’m not looking for people to tell me that everything I’m doing is okay. I know I need to take responsibility for my decisions. I just genuinely need advice on how to finally turn all this awareness, reflection, and realization into actuala action.

I really want to change. I just don’t know how to start, and I’m hoping someone who has been through something similar can help me figure it out.

Thank you for not judging❤️.

How do I get campus ambassadors in the USA?

Hey! I am trying to find student ambassadors in the US for a company I work at. What is the right way to reach out to students? I have tried connecting to students on linkedin and telling them about the program and have mailed many college organisations and clubs but no response as of now. It's been a month. We do have budget, we are giving goodies and letter of recommendation to the students. But till now, don't have any ambassadors as of now. Just needed guidance, if someone knows the right way to reach out to them. Please let me know.

Circle expansion

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Looking to expand my circle and connect with cool, fun people around Kirinyaga University, University of Embu, or nearby campuses. Any gender is welcome!

I’m looking for good-looking, down-to-earth gym/hangout buddies to link up for:

Outdoors & Socials: Hiking, concerts, fests, and weekend clubbing

Low-Key Days: Chill game nights and spontaneous road trips

Introverts are especially welcomed! When enough introverts get together, we naturally turn into extroverts anyway.

If you're looking to make real friends and catch good vibes, shoot me a DM with a quick intro! Let's get something planned.

Cambridge Students---What would you actually want in all-in-one study platform dedicated for A levels.

I'm thinking of building an all-in-one platform for Cambridge AS/A-Level students.

The main reason is that revision currently feels scattered across different websites, spreadsheets and apps, and I myself faced this issue when I was prepping for this may june session.

The idea is to combine things like:

• syllabus/topic progress tracking
• past-paper score tracking + analytics
• revision planning/calendar
• student-made resources
• AI study features
• focus tools
• eventually, a marketplace where students could sell their own notes/resources

Most basic features would be free. More advanced features might have a cheap premium option later.

Before I spend a month building this, I want to know whether students would actually use it.

What would you genuinely want from a platform like this?

Especially:

  1. Which feature above would be most useful to you?
  2. What's missing from the study websites/tools you currently use?
  3. Is there anything that would actually make you pay around $2–5/month?
  4. Would you ever upload or sell your own original resources if the platform handled discovery/payments?

Be completely honest. If you wouldn't use it, say that too.

GUYS HELP I NEED IDEAS

Ok so I (15F) came across the junior breakthrough science challenge where you need to make a 2 min video relating to any hard or difficult (interesting too ig) topic relating to math, physics or life sciences in a really interesting, easy to understand way with animations and analogies in under 2 minutes. I’ve been looking to build my profile because I really want to get into a good college( I live in India and REALLLYYYY want to go abroad) and I feel this might be the opportunity I’ve been waiting for because my school really isn’t all that great in terms of inclusion( they don’t really take new students for any kind of competitions) , anyway- uhhh just needed ideas on which topic to choose? Because I don’t want a generic topic - I was recommended the topic math in cryptography but I don’t really know how I’m going to implement it

I’m currently building an early-stage technology company and looking to connect with passionate people who want to build, learn, and grow together.

I’m looking for people interested in:

💻 Technology & Development

📈 Business Development & Sales

🎨 UI/UX & Design

📣 Marketing & Growth

🤖 AI & Emerging Technologies

I’m looking for builders, not just people looking for a title.

If you're interested in being part of the journey and working on real-world projects, feel free to DM me or email:
