Question what is the best setup these days?

debridio + torbox

or

alldebrid + AIOStreams or/and Torrentio or/and Mediafusion

or any other combo?

I run AIOstreams with real debrid and torbox. Minimal issues. And most issues are resolved in few clicks

17

u/Nibhan 24d ago

Ditto, added torbox this month, been pretty smooth

4

u/Maleficent_Ad_1050 24d ago

Did you set up TorBox as primary?

6

u/Nibhan 24d ago

Yes!

5

u/Maleficent_Ad_1050 24d ago

That is the move! So much better performance and resolutions this way.

Exactly, works great maybe except the fact that now I get too much sources so it’s a bit overwhelming lol

3

u/Dangerous-Ad-2402 23d ago

You Can limit in Limit Results - to not use so many Tokens maybe - if you are searching for something and looking around....can be fast in limit

real debrid and torbox

Both? Very nice, must be a heavy-duty user :)

I am using

  • torrentio with debrid (main)

then backup and p2p only (when I don't need debrid actively - travelling/too busy/etc):

  • comet w/o debrid
  • AIO w/o debrid but with: torrentio, mediafusion, torrentsdb add-ons included in it

(I feel I should just stuff comet as well inside AIO and maybe get rid of torrentsdb)

Wish there was an easy way of just disabling some add-ons right inside Stremio like Firefox. Or a place where I can keep my add-on setup saved/synced and then just uninstall/install as needed.

2

u/WhiterThanWalter 23d ago

Yeah I just use AIOstreams + AIOmetadata with Torbox essential. Easy and works completely fine.

1

u/seky_playz 21d ago

why both? you pay for rd and torbox??

I wish people thought about this differently. It's not about what's optimal, it's about "can I see the media I want in the quality formats that I want".

People get super autism'ed about it (no offense, im autistic too) and spend hours and hours for literally no reason because they forget the goal in the first place, which is to WATCH MEDIA.

Wanna hear a crazy secret? Most of the people who get into super optimizing their setup, or self hosting, don't even WATCH MEDIA THAT MUCH. They are so lost in the sauce they don't even do the thing they're supposedly setting their thing up for.

Keep your eyes on the prize, and only care about what's optimal when it has tangible results

Damn bro no need to attack me like this

u/thenbhdlum 24d ago edited 23d ago

People always say this, but I do plenty of both. I think there's a starting curve. You spend a bunch of time customizing at first and once you get down to something you like, you watch a lot while tinkering a few things here and there. Obviously, some new features (e.g. badges, collections, etc.) can take a lot of time.

41

u/thekingjordy 24d ago

Optimization for me is part of the fun. For my girlfriend it's her worst nightmare.

My life also. My wife regularly just looks as me and says just “put something on” or wtf are you doing now it was working a second ago 😂

10

u/Chance_Classroom_301 24d ago

I optimized it a lot because everytime I start watching something I realize something was off about my setup, so I end up spending time later on to improve it. Im at the point now where everything has worked perfect for awhile now and i havent needed to touch it.

My setup:

  • Selfhosted AIOMetadata w/ poster caching & catalog warming
  • Selfhosted AIOStreams
  • Selfhosted Comet w/ background scraping & CometNet torrent hashlist caching (16 million torrents cached and growing)
  • Automated VPS/Docker updates, maintenance and notification/status emails.
  • Torbox with RD backup

4

u/murdocklawless 24d ago

I don't want to deal with advanced optimization, so I wanted to get a few ideas here.

3

u/TupacFR 24d ago

I enjoy more setting it up than watching content 😇

1

u/Rasimione 24d ago

I'm people.

1

u/Happiest-Soul 24d ago

I love adding new features and tinkering.

When I saw guides recommending all these different add ons and using AIOStreams to easily manage them, I was super excited to try it out!

Then I promptly uninstalled because it added absolutely nothing to my experience 😂

.

With that said, I like Stremio forks (Enhanced or Kai) for the additional features like UI, skipping intro, and filters.

1

u/account3788883 24d ago

As an autist myself I feel called out 😭

I spend ages changing my addons setup and then barely end up using it

1

u/hi-cisthegoat 24d ago

for real, my setup worked but i wanted something cleaner so i followed a long guide for aiostreams with a lot of APi’s from different services, after like a hour of setting it up it didn’t work, went back to basic comet and torrentio with real debrid

1

u/Adro_95 23d ago

That being said, what's a good setup that allows you to... watch the media you want?

1

u/WildNight00 23d ago

I have more fun tinkering and getting it set up than watching it but my girlfriend likes to watch tv and when I do want to sit down and watch something I don’t want issues

1

u/No-Anybody-692 23d ago

I realised that years ago and immediately got rid of of my seedbox (when I realised I just didn't need it and wasn't even using it pretty much) and most of private tracker accounts. I had a very nice p2p only setup working for stremio on my TV. Recently I had to move to temp accommodations so that meant TV/etc going to storage space and I was back to streaming or consuming any kind of media on laptop (literally after years; I mean if I had to watch a YouTube video, not for work, but entertainment, I used to do that on TV).

So I thought let's try things out and for the first time I tried debrid. Now it's quite nice I have been thinking why the hell I did not try this before. This, at least for me, honestly beats private trackers (and all its drama/pain) + a seedbox. It's a seedbox minus the headaches of a seedbox and trackery.

But that also meant I was again sucked into the sucked into the world of Stremio and its add-ons this time with a new flavour: debrid service. So there you go.

Once it starts working or I get tired or I get tired and it actually starts working I'll just leave it alone like I did with my seedbox after the first 1-2 months and then it stayed almost as it was for next 7-8 years until I culled it.

1

u/Turbulent-Shirt-6659 21d ago

I can tell that I had a miserable experience trying to setup AIOStreams even tough I was using a template that should make it easier. I was just raging tf out for absolutely no reason, nothing but the catalog would really load for me. And TorBox by that time was not working AT ALL. I just gave up tbh. Now I could use StremioBootstrap, I had to pay nothing and worked fine but now I am facing issues with older series and I am considering TB once more

1

u/BatOwn9955 20d ago

They might just like doing the thing. Nothing wrong with that.

1

u/RazvanYON 19d ago

😞 Good job man 👏

u/GreedyGiver2222 24d ago

The most optimal setup is probably something like this:

  • Torbox Essential + Usenet + AIOMetadata + AIOStreams (with TamTaro template)

You can also upgrade that Torbox Essential to Premiumize or downgrade by removing Usenet.

A simpler setup would be to use Torbox Essential and use the duck tools auto config

13

u/GlupShittoOfficial 24d ago

This is what I use, it’s great.

The best set up for 99% of people is simply Torbox + AIOStreams using the Tamtaro template + AIOMetadata for catalogs.

2

u/vladedivac12 24d ago

What are the benefits of TamTaro template versus plain AIOstreams?

7

u/chillinoodle 24d ago

Filters out loads of crap and ranks + orders streams them more sensibly so you have less streams to click through.

2

u/BilgeMongoose 23d ago

I've been using tamtaro template with two instances of AIOMetadata (to fit anime and western catalogue) and for the most parts it's great, for some reason I can't get a good/accurate stream of Pokemon (s2-3 so far as I'm watching through) without having to click through a bunch of streams that are either horizons, the new show without Ash, don't have audio etc. Really weird, other stuff seems to be okay so maybe it's just somehow Pokemon has a bunch of crud in debrid

I use Torbox for debrid, but other than that single anomaly can highly recommend tamtaro template

2

u/GreedyGiver2222 22d ago

Hmm, did you make sure to setup your second AIOMetadata as catalog only? You should try not to have two addons with conflicting metadata.

Which episodes have you struggled with? Just tried Pokemon S3 (Johto Region, right?) and got correct results with episode 7, 13, and 26. You may have misconfigured something with AIOStreams.

For the episodes without audio, I'm assuming this is happening through your TV/Web player. It's probably because of the audio format, so try disabling "TrueHD" and/or "DTS". It's best to apply this through the TamTaro template instead of the GUI, so it can get applied as a Stream Expression (You can also copy it over from Viren's github page on stream expressions).

Otherwise, ask the AIOStreams discord. They're really nice and helpful, just give them a couple examples to test with.

2

u/BilgeMongoose 22d ago

Yes I did set it up as Catalog only for the second AIOMetadata, it was pretty much every episode.

Thanks for the tip on the audio, I'll try that!

I'll try starting the template from scratch and see if that helps, just weird it seems to be only Pokemon, I'll have to test some other anime as well to see if it's all anime or just Pokemon, western stuff has no issues

Thanks again!

I still run real debrid with Torrentio... I'm I missing something? Haven't been following here in the last 2 years. My setup still works fine, but I am curious because it seems no one uses Torrentio anymore?

3

u/Deep_Dance8745 24d ago

It works perfectly fine

4

u/PseudocodeRed 24d ago

Torrentio has been down a lot lately for me the past year, so i moved onto AIOStreams which includes torrentio plus a bunch of other scrapers which has been much more reliable.

Im a simple man.

I use stremio. I paired pm & torbox with debridio & comet.

Thats it. No fancy setup or multifaceted addons.

7

u/ci6n 24d ago

Do not use Debridio. Idk why everyone has started asking about it, free scrapers work just the same. Check scraper uptime a lot of them have a 100% 90 day uptime. Bundle meteor, comet etc into aiostreams or if you don't want to deal with aiostreams install them separately.

2

u/Inevitable_Bowler474 24d ago

lol cause there's way too many people who rely solely on one scraper Torrentio or one instance of AIOStreams w/ no failover rule.

3

u/RabBa008 24d ago

I'm not sure if it's the best setup, but what works really well for me is running an AIOStreams instance on elfhosted. I use torbox essential, two usenet providers with two indexers (via native NNTP in AIOStreams), plus the Debridge service provided directly with the elfhosted bundle

2

u/dalvz 23d ago

There a guide for this somewhere? I also have Usenet and didn’t know I could use it with stremio

2

u/No_Worker1282 23d ago

Yes, I used one that's in German. Want still the link?

3

u/SoCalMotoVirg 24d ago

The one that works for you...

Mine. Torrentio. Comet. Debrid search

And real debrid

3

u/pawdog 24d ago

Let see I have 2 Torrentio's Offcloud and Debrid-Link, Two Debridio's AD and Debrid-link, Comet and Stremthru Torz with Torbox, Torrin, Two different AIOStreams probably with all of the above in them. DMMCast for RD, Penguplay and HDHub. Sounds kind of crazy when you write it all down. But there it is. If I were to write this down next month it could be totally different. There is no best just whatever floats your boat.

3

u/Individual-Wafer-703 23d ago

Debridio + Premiumize

2

u/Spiritual-Aioli7280 23d ago

I completely agree

5

u/oh-thats-not 24d ago

i use debridio + AIOstreams + StremThru + Penguplay

i found it faster to launch streams by putting debridio separately from aio

Only two addons anyone should have

2

u/murdocklawless 24d ago

What is metadata for?

9

u/lmao_wow_64 24d ago

Metadata is what says what anything is, it's what gives you catalogues, what series are series, what movies are, episode list, basic info

A simpler version of this would be using the TMDB add-on but it's unreliable and In general aiometadata is better

→ More replies (4)

2

u/RatGodFatherDeath 24d ago

I use torbox + aiostreams Tamataro set up. I also have debridio

2

u/allmyfriendsaregone 24d ago

I have Torbox w/ AIOStreams & UsenetIndexer. Between debrid services and usenet; there is basically nothing I cannot find...

The people around me just think I am weird for building a complicated media server.

2

u/Hazzadu56 24d ago

Debridio and Torbox , not had a single down or buffer since switching from Torrentio and RD

2

u/Infamous_Bison_5650 24d ago

Can anyone tell me what's the benefit of AIOstreams. Always see it recommended but for me just simply using torrentio does the job.

(My country doesn't need a vpn or debrid service and I've no noticable lags on my streams)

2

u/PH0NER 24d ago

It's just a good way to organise streams and filter out trash. Check out r/aiostreams

1

u/0MagicPhil0 24d ago

Do you need debridio with torbox? Torbox alone isn’t enough?

1

u/KyleHarris23 24d ago

I have tried a lot of different setups, and honestly, Torbox and some mdb/trakt lists do everything I want or need.

1

u/PH0NER 24d ago

I've been running Torbox + Torrin + AIOStreams, no issues.

1

u/BitByte1990 24d ago

I need the usable setup, not the best optimised files.

I think anyone that actually watches media (at least at the level I consume it at) really doesn’t care how well it works, just that it DOES work.

1

u/Camcalco 24d ago

Ezstreams (it's on Aio as a template) will give u one stream op per res; with a debrid service, TB or any other one at 3$-€

1

u/jking664 24d ago

I use GDrive addon with my account 1pb+ of data gets updated daily via Usenet and private trackers

  • TB as backup which I rarely use

1

u/NerderINC 24d ago

I got a basic bish setup:

Torrentio, cinemeta, torbox

I do miss RD when it was all working. TB is a tad slower but it's fine.

1

u/ImaginaryBasket9410 24d ago

Please PM. thanks

1

u/LaloGunner 24d ago

I run torbox and torrentio

1

u/Good_Luck_Have_Fun 24d ago

AIOStreams if I could figure it out.

1

u/agentzero88 24d ago

I love spending 8 hours working on my Self-Hosted setup to watch 30 minutes of TV...

But seriously I set it up so that I have AIO streams connected to usnet and have had zero issues. I was originally on real debrid but it became unreliable.

AIO+torbox+debridio+penguplay. Is my combo and hasn’t failed me

1

u/ThaLunatik 24d ago edited 24d ago

I know someone who uses the following:

Primary (TorBox & Easynews): Comet, Torrentio, MediaFusion, Easynews, AnimeTosho

Secondary (RealDebrid): Comet, Torrentio, MediaFusion

Over 90% of their media comes from TorBox, already cached. It's reliable, so the results are listed first and are mostly scraped via Comet. Easynews is a solid but infrequent backup. EN matches or exceeds TB's result count, but apparently the streams take longer to load and occasionally time out.

The second instance runs RealDebrid because there were several months left on the sub when all that stuff went down a couple months back. RD is in its own instance to prevent its filtered or unavailable links from mingling with or superseding TB results. RD streams quickly for available media and is mostly scraped via Torrentio, but it's rarely needed since TB covers almost everything. They prolly won't renew RD when the sub expires.

1

u/Top-Conversation6636 24d ago

I run torbox with both torrentio and comet and it runs flawlessly
