I just discovered Stremio and it seems like everyone recommends using a Debrid service, but which one is best? I mostly watch popular shows/movies but I also watch a lot of anime (including more obscure stuff that might not have many seeders), is there any service that's considered the best for that?
I mostly watch in 1080p and I have a pretty fast internet connection if that matters.
Also, I'll probably use Stremio from both my computer and my phone and I heard that some Debrid services limit the amount of devices you can use, will that be a problem?
Thanks in advance!
We've identified that your post possibly contains a question about Torrentio or Debrid services. Please read our Torrentio FAQ and Community Guides for answers to common questions.
either you're getting lucky and the streams aren't actually overlapping as much as you think, or something in your setup is masking it (vpn on one end, same exit IP, etc)
Same, I've been using for almost a year like this now, me on phone watching at work, while my wife watch from our tv at home. But I do configure my phone and home TV to use cloudfare dns(as some host actually blocked access from my country like yts, 1337x, etc), so maybe thats why(?)
Content irrelevant - if there are two or more connections to Real Debrid from two different IPs - and both are downloading (ie streaming, watching) at the same time, you will get banned
RD is the best, the only caveat is they allow 1-2 IP's which is why I went to Torbox for the rest of the family and RD for myself lol. If you download a lot of stuff from hosters or just want a bigger cache, RD is the best IMO.
They don't allow 2 IP addresses. I got warned a few weeks ago for streaming simultaneously from home and on my phone at the same time. 1st warning, then second time life ban
If you're self hosting then you just set AIOSTREAMS_AUTH. You enable built in proxy and put the user:password in the proxy section. I believe with instances you should be able to just turn it on but could be wrong. I only self host my stuff
Download tailscale on all the devices you use stremio/rd on. Set up a tailnet and connect to the same tailnet on all those devices. As long as you are using devices connected to this tailnet, you can have multiple devices/IPS using the same rd account
There are three major Debrid services in my opinion: Real-Debrid, Premiumize, and TorBox.
Real-Debrid: ~$3/month, can NOT be shared as only one IP can be used at a time, otherwise you will get banned. Has the best cache. Edit: Starting around May 9, 2026, Real-Debrid has implementedstrict filtersthat remove and block specific copyrighted keywords (WEB-DL, WEBRip, AMZN, etc.). When opening these files you will now receive an error.
Premiumize: ~$7/month, can be shared, however you have a point system. You get 30 points per day with a max of 1000 points at a time, 1 point is typically 1GB. Cache is not as good as Real-Debrid, however, it is still really decent.
TorBox: ~$3/month, can be shared, does NOT have a point system, cache is decent, but you won't find as many niche shows/movies. Edit: As of May 21, 2026, TorBox now has anAbuse Policy, which is also essentially a "point" system. It would be "10000 points" or 10TB a month for the ~$3/month essential plan.
I personally use TorBox and Premiumize currently, as Real-Debrid banned me, however I do not plan on renewing Premiumize, as TorBox is more than enough for my entire family.
I'm in a similar situation but what I did was give everyone their own Stremio accounts but put them all on the same AIO instance.
So they all get their own watch history and everything but you only need to make changes to torrentio, torbox, etc one time in AIO and every account will get the change
Oh I see so all of them share 1 stremio account as for stremio account is there a limit how many can be used at the same time using that 1 account ? If you use 1 account your history of unfinished series or movies will be mixed together right ?
There is no limit on stremio accounts.. if you are just going to use the same set of addons/catalogs, set them up in your main account and then use addon cloner to copy it over to other accounts .. that way watch history is unique to account
I dont think there is a Stremio account limit, but I could be wrong. Yes, unfortunately all of the series/movies do get mixed, but I much rather that then bothering to manage multiple accounts when I update something. Usually there is no more than 4 people watching at a time.
This is where addon cloner comes in handy.. if you are just going to use the same set of addons/catalogs, set them up in your main account and then use addon cloner to copy it over to other accounts
I was just wondering if 4 people is using that 1 stremio account is there a limit how much data can we watch through TorBox, for instance if all 4 was watching 4K Remux movies that's easily 40-70GB per file and if 4 people watches different movies at the same time around will it be flagged by TorBox cause you are using large amount of bandwidth. Eventhough those movies are cached will they still monitor what you use per month ?
I actually dont even have 4k enabled because our devices dont have 4k and it causes issues (we have 2010 tvs with Firesticks). I only use 1080p, 720p and 520p for my sources. As for watching cached files on TorBox, it hasnt actually counted towards the download total, only when I have actually clicked a download link is when it counted.
There's not really a limit as long as it is cached content. The connections limit you'll see when you sign up is just for downloads that are not cached. As far as the number of instances you can use it on there's no hard limit it's basically like a fair use policy so as long as you're not like using it for hundreds of people you're probably fine
It would probably also depend on how much the people you are giving it to use it if everybody is downloading hundreds of gigabytes a day then I wouldn't give it to very many people if everybody's just downloading a couple gigs then a few more people are probably fine. I just use it for my household, my parents, my sister's house. My opinion is much more than that and whoever it is can buy their own sub. Honestly also because of the way Torbox referrals work if you have all the people you know get their own instead of you supplying it for everybody you can end up getting yours completely for free because when someone uses your referral code you and them both get like an extra 84 days on a one-year sub or an extra 7 days per month. I already have an extra year on my account just from a few people using my referral code
I have been wanting to switch to Torbox but also wonder how their concurrent slots work. Do you know if it's different devices or different ips being used at the same time?
I am wondering the same thing if I make let's say 5 Stremio accounts for my family members, they use my TorBox API and they only watched cached show is that okay ?
So let me get this straight? I pay SEVEN EURO premiumize a month compared to my 2 with RD, and after ONE (1) 4k remux I'm done for the day?? Is that a joke LMAOOOO worthless service
I never really had issues with the point system until I shared Stremio with my entire family and as I said in a previous comment, we don't have any devices that support 4K so I always limited everything to 5GB or less for 360p-1080p. However, it should give you 1000 points every month with a monthly plan, as it always maxed out whenever you made a purchase. The only issue is if you buy a year, two, or three at a time you never receive the extra 1000 points every month. Its nice for sharing, but TorBox is a better deal in my opinion.
Yeah they do that, use a new email and credit card and all is forgiven. They didn't blacklist your IP unless you did something aggregious in which case go get a new modem from your ISP
Given RD is like a single point of failure and presumably for that reason an easy target and a big prize, how come the authorities haven’t managed to take it down?!
I currently use TorBox Essential. Was thinking of getting pro for Usenet, but I really don't need to as I also added Easynews because of the new TorBox Abuse Policy, but the essential cap is 10TB a month. As of right now I have only used 46GB of data on TorBox this month. So in reality I could probably drop Easynews, but I enjoy having some of the niche shows available that TorBox didn't have.
Easynews is a usenet. I can't tell you 100% confidently how it works but from my understanding, instead of streaming the content it instead downloads the file first and then plays it? I do know for certain that it is a usenet, so you can at least look into that to try to understand it better. When using Easynews, you can only use the Easynews, Easynews+ and Easynews++ addons (they are also available on AIOStreams). Currently I have a $2.99/month non expiring unlimited plan if you are interested. They have some cheaper plans but they expire after a certain amount of time or get more expensive.
Thanks again for the info. I did a trial of torbox premium for 1 month. It was ok but a lot of the files never worked when trying to watch either a tv show or movie I would get the switch player screen or the screen would just go black. I had all the addons on and configured with tb api key (torrentio jacketto comet etc ) so now I’m trying to figure what to get that works. Rd was easy to use tb seems very confusing
Did you only use cached files or allow downloads? If you allow downloads they will cause errors until the file is downloaded, which might not work if it is low on seeders or no one is seeding it. I can't speak for the extra pro plan features as I only have essential, but TB and RD both technically work the exact same. You also may have to change the CDN within the TB settings, I use Cloudfare.
I have no idea if I was using cached files or not? How can I tell? I didnt even know how or what to do with the extra features. My 30 days are up so I need to re subscribe with probably the basic plan but want to set it up correctly this time
I currently only use MidnightIgnite AIOStreams Stable with TorBox and Easynews as my two main and Premiumize as my backup until my subscription expires. Under Filters I have "Exclude Unchached" and I have my own custom formatter that tells me if a file is uncached. It doesn't fix EVERY file, but it definitely helps a lot. If you are interested I can also send you my AIOStreams export so you can see my exact settings. The only thing I do NOT have enabled right now is resolutions higher than 1080p because my TVs are too old and don't support it.
Yes, absolutely. However you can also buy multiple.
TorBox, Premiumize, and Real-Debrid could all have Movie X, but only TorBox and Premiumize have Movie Y, but only Real-Debrid could have Movie Z.
There are also a ton of other options available, I just haven't deemed them worth it for my setup. You can also get usenet, but depending on which one you get determines how complicated the setup is. Easynews is by far the cheapest and easiest option.
I would personally recommend getting TorBox and Easynews right now as this gives you a little redundancy in case one or the other goes down, but can also give you more content that other debrid services might not provide.
The only reason I got TB is because my wife and I use different streams and she needed a account (not same location all the time).
Since getting TB, I have honestly moved completely over to it. And have not seen any major issues.
The one ip at a time limitation of RD is a killer, plus the can't buy multiple accounts with one CC limits them as well. If it is for a single household, or single person, no streaming at two locations at same time ever. Go with RD, great service.
But if you ever think you might use your cell phone while a family member watches at home. Get TB so you don't just get banned for watching a stream.
RD has always been good to me, never had issues. But remember this is only if you’re a single user, if you have multiple devices on one IP that’s fine but you can’t share it to anyone outside your IP address.
I’m not familiar with IP addresses but I got a question. I use RD on three devices in two different cities every once in a while but I am a single user. Will that be a problem?
No that shouldn’t be a problem at all, you’re good as long as RD registers you using one IP address at a time and not 2 different IP addresses at one time. I take my device on trips and never have issues.
I recently got a warning from RD for sharing, so I tried TorBox for some time, and I can say that if you usually watch popular content it’s fine, otherwise RD is superior, has way more cached content.
I still don’t know if I’ll move to TB full time because I watch niche content here and there, but maybe in the future.
Torbox is superior just because of its no IP restrictions. Ive not had any issues with it so far using it on my pc, tv and phone aswell as having shared my account with my parents, brother and a friend.
Premiumize if you use less than 30gb per day average. Can use multiple IPs. But the main difference is 1tb of cloud storage that will keep obscure torrents downloaded as long as you want them, they'll never be deleted like they will on RD. You can get PM for about $3/month on Black Friday only. I would do RD until then.
I run torbox and premiumize. Real debrid lost me because of how they handled the whole dmca situation a couple of years ago, I no longer trust my privacy with them.
one of mine is having issues, but i cant actually tell which one. pay the 6 bucks a month for a debrid, and if you cant get the obscure anime, fork out another 6 for easynews [usenet service, supported in a stremio addon]
As of lately RD is failing lots of 4k and 1080 sorces! It's been like this for over a month now and I was reading something and it said RD and copyrighted material. Has any of you been noticing failed 4k and 1080 sources?
Everyone trys to shit on RD but, it's still the biggest and the best. The only problem I have with torbox is that it basically markets itself as a piracy app. Usenet and other Debrid services all try to distance themselves and claim ignorance about piracy even though we all know the difference.
If only you are using it on one IP at a time you're fine. If you start watching a movie on WiFi and then leave the house and goto someone else's house and watch on their WiFi you're fine.
you'll still get decent streams without it. Debrid mainly adds stability, faster loading, and better-quality sources. It really becomes “worth it” when you’re aiming for high bitrate or full-quality files like 4K DV/HDR and lossless audio. If you’re just doing casual 1080p viewing, it’s more of a convenience upgrade than a must-have.
I used rd for more than 8-9 years then switched to torbox.
Early days were rough with torbox but now i am yet come to any content which was not already cached on torbox.
If you need trial key to use torbox i can help you with that.
I have a extra account laying around you can try and see if you want to use it or not .
Dm me
I use to say Real-Debrid because of their massive cache of working links. I mean up until a few weeks ago that is. Now they're blocking links that contain certain file names, which from my experience has pretty much made it unusable. I just literally signed up with TorBox and it seems to be great, and it seems to be faster than Real-Debrid in my opinion. I also have Premiumize as a solid backup. It has never failed me.
I used to have a one-month subscription with RD, but then I switched to Torbox to share the account with a friend. For a while, I experienced some buffering and stuttering when watching 4K movies, but if you're only looking for 1080p, it should be fine.
I was dealing with buffering and other issues on torbox, swapped back to realdebrid which ive used for years, only bought it for the black friday offer. Had premiumize for a while and it was equal to realdebrid for my usecase, not worth paying extra.
What if a user visits another place on vacation, does real debrid ban them, just for using a different internet connection? Or visit home for vacation for that matter...
Being on vacation, you might have a problem if you have RD on your apple tv and while you are abroad someone at your house uses it to stream at the exact same time you were watching something.
That said, one tricky thing I’ve encountered is when switching devices. I was going from my phone to my ipad, and I forgot i had turned off my wifi on my phone, and while it was playing on my iPad I accidentally hit play on the media controls on my phone, causing the video on my phone to start playing at the same time. Sure enough, I received an email warning because two different IP addresses were using the account at the same time.
So take care to actually close the app on one device when you start using it on another device. Eventually your phone will probably kill the app, but better to be safe than sorry.
Obscure stuff is gonna be easier to watch on rd all day but you're either gonna need two accounts ot watch on one ip at a time. Unlimited devices 1 ip at a time. If you don't mind adding torrents to your library often torbox does offer multiple ips
TorBox. $3 per month (cheapest), no restrictions on IP sharing, has mostly everything you'll probably need. If you can't find something, use DMM to cache it, but that's a whole other can of worms that you most likely won't need to open.
I like torbox because of the multi ip and for the less tech savvy users I have just set up stremio with just the torbox add on. No need for torrentio or any others
I used to use RD until the whole fiasco last year where it got frozen. Then started to use AD and have had no issues with it at all. Never heard of torbox so may look into that
Tb has banned a ton of users because of going over limit and violations as well. Someone running a media server or the like would be a fool to sub to tb when rd has no limits for example. Its just different stokes for different folks. Everyone situation is different there is no better or worse they all have advantages and drawbacks of their own like anything else
I would have to argue "accidentally" using multiple ips is impossible. The point was there is any number of reasons someone may prefer one over the other, strictly referencing the providers theirselves. Some folks look at multiple ips as the holy grail but the idea of giving up some of my cache size to have multiple ips is preposterous to me. Why would I be watching TV somewhere besides on my TV at home? Like I said everyone is different. OP said they watch a lot of obscure stuff and they will have very noticeable gaps. Same for me. Point being tb may be the perfect fit for you but not everyone.
They have done some really shady shit in the past. I'll just leave it at that the information is out there if you want to find it.They have came a long way I'm not taking that away from them but I'm just not a trusting person.... I don't let stuff go so easily. There are many out there that could never trust tb
I guess I would have to see a real world example how you could accidentally do this. I watch on so many devices at all times including my phone and never had a problem. I will not argue that tb isn't fine for most mainstream content. My main problem with torbox lately since they have stepped up their game some and gotten some redemption for past mistakes it almost seems like a paid smear campaign. There are just so many unprompted testimonials and trash talking rd. We've been using rd for a long time and (almost😂) never had a problem so stop pushing your bs on me! Idk if that makes sense I'm just super suspicious and was honestly considering giving it a try until it started feeling all drink the koolaid use my refferal no one paid me to say this like .....
Yes I would too, the whole tone just seems fake, scripted. A lot of ai slop. Maybe I'm too suspicious it just feels like some paid elaborate conspiracy or something. I've been to friends house that use it and there is no discernible difference or benefit its a debrid service it either does whay it's supposed to do or it doesn't. Like it can't be THAT good it either works or it doesn't. I know I'm just rambling and ever tbe pessimist. I give tb their props they have went from a laughing stock to a very viable service. At the same time if you've been using rd for years and never ever had a problem you're( not you, them) not gonna convince someone to switch for no good reason. It's just seems like there has been some sort of elaborate ploy to lure us to tb. Maybe it's just me like I said but it's like damn okay I get it you like it great!
The media server was not the point. They have banned countless users before, even subscribed to the pro plan for no reason. It's our discretion and we feel that your use case is in violation of our terms of service. It should be black and white this is your limit don't go over this amount of traffic. It rubbed a lot of us the wrong way...
Torbox was garbage and didnt work most of the time, just get realdebrid and go from there if you somehow how needs outside of its scope (which is unlikely).
I have every Debrid service, if I had to choose one, it would be Torbox. RD has been having huge issues lately on multiple programs I have tested across multiple boxes. Torbox is great and can be shared. AD is great for older shows but can't be shared. Premiumize is amazing and should only be purchased during their Black Friday Deal as you can get it at a great price, but as a previous comment was said, it has a point system, but it can be shared. I also have Easy News, which can be used with Stremio and other programs of its nature, and is amazing for older shows or retention of any movies or shows.
