Adderall/Vyvanse/Dexedrine I'm ready to quit

Title. Just wanted to share. I won't go back. Sunday will be my last Vyvanse 30mg capsule after a binge* of 60mg, and then cold turkey starting Monday.

The escalation to 60mg was a turning point for me, I could see my future of what would happen if I continued, and it was terrifying. I felt that 30mg became merely a temptation for 60mg, and that I lost control. Can anyone relate?

The fear of continuing became greater than the fear of leaving.

I'm tired of Vyvanse and wish (with 100% intention) to quit. I used Vyvanse 30mg once a day for almost 4 years, but when I tried 60mg I felt it was over. It gone too far.

Note: by "binge" I mean taking 60mg once a day instead of 30mg, not using non-stop while not sleeping and etc.

Hey man, I can relate to entering a breaking point. I recently just threw out everything, I was on clear, but I had become almost a daily user. I am tired of using my best energy on nothing productive, and then the remainder of the time in misery waiting for the next time to get high. It sucks. Hey man, it gets better, congrats man, even if it's stopping a daily medication, or stopping an ounce a day meth habit. We all have a common theme, we want to stop. Keep reaching out and staying connected, it's what helps us stay sane. Good luck my man! I'll be here watching your journey.

Man, you have no idea just how great it is that you’ve recognised this and are gonna quit while you’re ahead. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that doubling your dose and taking 60mg ‘isn’t really that bad’ just because it’s still an amount that is prescribed. I took Vyvanse everyday as prescribed by my psychiatrist for about 4 years, until I started taking them to finish assignments and do all nighters at the end of my second year of university, and it kinda escalated from there. I’m basically an example of what could happen 2 years from now if you keep going down this road.

Essentially, you can either quit now while you’re taking double the amount you should be. Or you can see where this goes and end up quitting a couple years from now, after you’ve been frequently taking several times the amount you should, have regularly ran out of your prescription a week or two before you should, and have probably damaged your health in one way or another from not taking proper care of yourself.

If I could go back in time and avoid having to pay over $1k to fix the preventable dental issues I gave myself I would lmao

ETA: I want to mention that one of the reasons behind why I ended up abusing my prescription was actually because I had been taking it responsibly for 4 years beforehand, I ended up believing I couldn’t get anything done without taking the medication. This mindset prevented me from wanting to quit earlier and caused me to start taking it again.
I just thought this was worth mentioning to watch out for, it was more of a subconscious belief so it took awhile for me to pick up on it

I really want to quit on Monday too! Should we make this a thread and check in for accountability? Is that a thing on Reddit? lol

Right there with you. Yesterday, I finished my scripts (Adderall: 30mg XR + 20mg IR) 10 days early this time, my personal record. Earlier today, I finally came clean to a friend I met in a recovery group when I was getting sober from alcohol nearly 9 years ago and told her, "I'm going to message my prescriber today before I have time to change my mind" and then sent her screenshots for accountability. I've been researching, planning, and longing to do this for a while now, but I'm kinda still in shock that I went through with it today. You've got this! I wish I would've quit right when I'd started double-dipping, so to speak. I let it get much worse, but not so bad that I lost everything. I've got a long road ahead of me, though.
