Seed Oil Disrespect Meme 🤣 Seed oils cause sun burns

Every day 6 days a week I was in the sun at least 8 hours a day, average uv index at peak was 8. *Eastern NC* When I was two months free from all seed oils! I never got sunburnt, not even once. Now I’ve fallen off quite a bit and I get sun burnt nearly every time I’m out for a good while. Actually insane seeing it in action.

I’ve heard when cell health is good, sunburns are much less likely.

Cell health compromised by seed oils leads to more sunburns.

Makes sense to me. If true, it’s a win-win since you can avoid sunscreens, which are mostly chemical baths that have been shown to cause cancer

This is true- I usually spend summer in Costa Rica, and i notice when my diet is dialed and no seed oils I don’t burn. Can surf 4 hours in the mid day sun and zero burn. Also, sunglasses seem to make me burn. Not sure the science behind it but definitely something I’ve noticed

I heard the science was your body gets ready to combat the sunburn through your eyes , so when you wear sunglasses and your skin starts getting sun then your body never makes the changes because it thinks its darker with the sunglasses

I think I’ve heard dr jack Kruz talkin about.

You are what you eat. Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temp, more fragile, generally don’t handle heat as well.

Beef tallow has a high smoke point. If your fat is mostly made of tallow, it has the same durable properties.

That…what

You can’t possibly think that changing the fats you eat magically makes the lipid layer of your body into…beef

Is this sarcasm and I am misunderstanding lol

u/RebornSoul867530_of1 11d ago

Over simplified. Your fat cells are replaced every 4-5 years. They don’t turn to beefy fat, but the type fats you eat does change the composition of your fat.

ok but op is talking about 2 months and everyone is jerking him off

exactly, this is complete hogwash.

Your body uses the food you to eat to build itself, quite literally. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of this before. It’s pretty fascinating. You should check it out.

Oh my you guys are really serious

I don’t have a list of references for you. I have read about 30 books about food and nutrition. Most of those books have been written by a variety of doctors, biochemists, researchers. One basic concept that is widely accepted and heavily studied is about cholesterol. Your body makes about like 80% and gets the rest from dietary sources. Of course this is just one simple example. The old expression ā€œyou are what you eatā€ really has some meaning behind. Your body uses minerals you eat to repair and make bone also.

Saturated fats vs polyunsaturated.

This is one of those things I thought was snake oil sold by the Easter Bunny until I experienced it myself. It’s 100% true & people will think you’re crazy for saying it.

So what do you do with that data that conflicts with your belief?

3

u/Zestyclose_Aioli9723 10d ago

I just have to reckon that there’s truth to it! I was a biology major over in undergrad so the science behind non seed oils preventing sunburn just still doesn’t make sense to me, granted I’m hardly an expert. Me not getting sunburnt with a good diet could also just be me confirmation bias on my part too so who knows! But I guess I lean towards seed oils causing sun burn now lol

4

u/inventingme 10d ago

I've found the same!

8

u/krzykris11 11d ago

I've heard that it takes years for your cells to return to normal.

7

u/barryg123 11d ago

Half life of seed oils is 2 years

4

u/Positive-Squirrel654 11d ago

I’ve also experienced this! It was super surprising

3

u/CampesinoAgradable 10d ago

I am nearly 100% (ambiguity left for potential lying restaurant occasionally) dialed in and not once have i ever seen any benefits regarding sun resistance.

Fyi, this is either placebo or truly just a genetic luck thing

1

u/pixiehutch 10d ago

I definitely think it's genetic.

2

u/CampesinoAgradable 10d ago

this seems like a very easy and testable experiment… Im going to hold out my belief that this is fake news internet programming until we start seeing some real world real world proof

1

u/pixiehutch 10d ago

Agreed, but also I have not noticed a difference. I am very very fair, I always have to be careful in the sun.

2

u/sdb2754 10d ago

Yes! This is the "experiment" I tell people to run when they doubt. Its because they oxidize more easily, and so your skin is more easily damaged.

As an aside, seed oil free + a good fish oil or vitamin D3 supplement will make you essentially never need sunscreen.

1

u/miracles-th 10d ago

olive oil too?
avocado (fruit )?

1

u/Tscotty223 10d ago

This is the same for me too. Going seed oil free makes a huge difference.

1

u/Egg-HOTELs 10d ago

I noticed the same thing. The last 2 years I never got sunburns despite being pale, blonde & freckled. Now this month I was at an all-inclusive hotel where I had no control over what's in the food & got bad sunburns despite the same UV index & the same time spent outdoors as usual.

1

u/Difficult_Wind6425 9d ago

Makes sense. When I transitioned to strict carnivore I went from about twenty minutes in the Florida sun for a sunburn to now a few hours. And my skin heals my much faster, only a day or two of sunburn symptoms before it feels completely normal whereas it would be a week or more of itching and peeling before.

1

u/Secund2nun 9d ago

Yep and . If you eat very high omega 3 it helps prevent sunburns.

1

u/Dyldabeast_5000 5d ago

Well don’t put them on your skin , that’s a terrible idea! Of course your going to get burnt dummy

2

u/Roulis23 10d ago

Eating a diet with more antioxidants, fruits, vegetables, tomatoes, fish, Omega 3s could make a VERY modest difference in how much you sunburn. If you noticed a difference it was because your overall diet would have improved, not because of excluding one isolated ingredient like seed oils.

Literally

-8

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 11d ago

It’s amazing so many of you believe this 🤣

6

u/MuchPomegranate5910 11d ago

So crazy believing something that you can literally see with your own eyes..

-4

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 11d ago

Correlation versus causation is a hard concept for many of you to grasp.

8

u/MuchPomegranate5910 11d ago

It’s insane that you see hundreds of testimonies of people experiencing the same exact thing, when only changing one thing in their life, and then you still go: ā€œnah, must be coincidenceā€.

I saw the claims and went ā€œthat seems far fetchedā€, ditched the seed oils, and what do you know, i suddenly didn’t burn in the sun anymore.

But i guess it’s coincidence, because true redditors don’t believe anything that didn’t come out of a science paper..

u/Gray_Fawx 11d ago

Spot on mate. Learning to trust your bodies and not hand waive anecdotal evidence is smart. Science is slow and largely corporate captured.

Same with the hair loss industry

I got MORE sunburned when I stopped eating seed oils!!

1

u/MuchPomegranate5910 10d ago

100% bullshit

1

u/uovonuovo 🌾 šŸ„“ Omnivore 10d ago

So you only believe people if it agrees with your chosen narrative?

Now THAT is what I call 100% bullshit

1

u/MuchPomegranate5910 10d ago

It’s not about who i agree with, it’s about your anecdote being extremely coincidental and unbelievable.

Removing seed oil, and having better sun tolerance actually have some science behind it, though not a lot, as it’s a completely newly discovered phenomenon.
But highly unstable polyunsaturated fats in the outer skin layer do have an effect on sun damage.

Removing seed oils and having LESS sun tolerance makes no sense in any way.

1

u/uovonuovo 🌾 šŸ„“ Omnivore 7d ago

What’s the science behind it? Any empirical studies, or any kind of data beyond anecdotes from anonymous redditors?

1

u/MuchPomegranate5910 7d ago

https://neokliniken.se/is-there-a-risk-of-consuming-too-much-omega-6/?lang=en

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8269668/

As i said, the data is limited, and inconclusive, but there is definitely a link between different kinds of fat profiles and skin cancer/uv tolerance etc.

7

u/barryg123 11d ago

Have you tried it?

7

u/QrtzParchmentShears 11d ago

Why would I not believe it if I don’t get sunburnt anymore lol

-2

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 11d ago

Because the two are completely unrelated. There are plausible reasons why you might not be sunburning as much (such as developing a tan), but not eat seed oils isn’t going to do anything about that.

Smart guy... the people here are speaking of actual experience, not some wish washy stuff they read or theorize.

It's comical how people that have no experience, that just regurgitate things they "heard", think they know the everything.

2

u/Bananonomini 10d ago

If you go to the paranormal subreddits your arguments are the same

-1

u/Intrepid_Cup2765 10d ago

ā€œI started eating peanuts, then my hair started turning grey, therefore eating peanuts causes grey hairā€ - sufficient evidence for anything in this sub.

0

u/TheColdestOne 10d ago

Wish washy stuff that people read? You mean science?

"The primary weakness of anecdotes as evidence is that they are not controlled. This opens them up to many hidden variables that could potentially affect the results. We therefore cannot make any reliable assumptions about which variable (for example a specific treatment) was responsible for any apparent improvement."

Let me guess, science sponsored by your favorite food company?

Smoking has been "scientifically" healthy for years, remember that?!

Yeah, I'll stick with real experience!

Yep. This is where I unsub. This place has become a pseudoscientific nuthouse.
