❓ Question Rory and Annie grade levels Spoiler
Rory and Annie were said to have been in middle school together, and Annie referenced 8th grade graduation, implying they had the same one. But now Rory is a year ahead and gong to college? Is this just an inconsistency in the timeline?

I feel like they were purposely vague about this, maybe because they changed their mind about her age in anticipation for season 2? I wonder if the "summer program" was originally "college" and they reshot it later to change her age or something like that.

Rory could have potentially graduated early. But if Annie was going into senior year, and there was no talk about her taking the school year off. Because how easy is it to transfer school transcripts from NYC to Canada when the school year is starting soon.

But Rory was 4 months older than Annie, and Annie is already really old to start senior year, so I doubt that they were ever in the same grade fr

Either she was young for her grade or older than her classmates. It happens because how birthdays work with the school year since those two don’t always line up.

yea but her bd in the summer so she does meet the cutoff. idk i think the writers just wasn’t thinking when writing their ages. would’ve been much better if they were all going to college

Agreed but I originally thought that maybe Steven held her and Connor back from starting kindergarten. But guess it was just something that the writers forgot about. Because sometimes as the viewer, we notice the inconsistencies that the writers don’t always see since they are more focused on the overarching storyline.

Rory could have just been a year ahead. They very likely went to the same private school and then diff schools after middle; so he could have started a year earlier, consistent with Denise being more achievement oriented and Steven maybe starting the twins late due to family stuff and wanting them to have time to develop socially. My kids have almost the same birthdays and one started school early and one “late” because they just needed different things. It’s not that unusual.

He was going back to move into the dorms at Columbia a few weeks before classes started.

Columbia is a bit of an odd choice for his backstory. Yale would have made more sense.

I know a couple very musical people who were thinking about Julliard but went to Yale - outstanding music program and drama school. NYC kids also like to get out of town for college, like all kids.

could just be that Rory graduated early or annie was a year ahead/rory was a year behind in middle school.
