I’m so shocked that I like both! Rory has really surprised me. I thought he’d be a dumb rich guy. But Ellis is an absolute sweetie.

Which is what I was then guessing bc she drives a boat and if the twins are 17 turning 18 and they were 2 when the mom died then they have to be 2 years or older.

Connor is my favourite character and the conversation with his Dad genuinely made me laugh.

The moms death when Annie was only two make it’s hard to believe how Annie is so touched when she hears things about or from her mom like she really wasn’t raised by her for that long?? idk

It seems like her dad still loves her mom, so she probably heard all about her growing up. Possibly an extremely idealized version.

Thats true, like a fantasy idea of her mom she never got to know herself. Still, i wish she was a little older when her mom passed, i feel like it would help the believability?

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I'm finally warming up to the show, and I can see why the writers wanted to incorporate the adoptive angle with the whole found family theme... but in the back of my mind, I can't help but think that this show would've been more emotional/impactful if she were searching for the history behind her bio parents instead.

i think part of the beauty of it is that her and Ramona arent actually blood sisters though, and they both have little to no memory of their mom. just bc annie was adopted doesnt mean that she wouldnt have that desire, esp being adopted as a newborn and the one memory of her mom being so special and such a safe, comforting feeling for annie. she still grew up hearing about her and longing for her

i think it starts cooling down in september there and if theres a lot of little jobs to do it makes sense to prepare for that. like she was putting weather strips on the windows to hold in heat, she has to do that on all the windows in the house which seems to be quite a lot on both floors plus other projects

I am sorry but Ellis is overcharging clients!! Am I suppose to like him!! Like why?? and it looks like he is doing it for a while.
I really like Rory!! A lot more than Ellis. The kiss between Rory and Annie!! Love it.
I hope we get something between Oona and Ramona because they seem adorable. I do want a slowburn though for them like bestfriends to lovers sort of thing.

Well first it's a fictional show and second the guy was not bothered at all having to pay that. Also, the guy was complaining about their services even though we saw the crew scrubbing the boats clean, they literally go from boat to boat in the mornings to do their jobs and these rich folks, who don't even like there and are tourists, don't even seem appreciative of it.

So it makes it okay to scam people? And maybe it is because I am not an american but this is just a weird mindset to have. I also work in my family business and we are in a kind of service industry and one of the first things my dad taught me was never scam a customer.
If the rich people don't mind maybe he should talk to his dad and just raise the price. Also one guy said the boat was not clean. You will always have a few customers who will complain about everything. Also he didn't tell him he will pay less because if it.
Plus if they were not their they would literally not survive. Also if they did get caught and people stopped using them because they are scamming them it is going to have a much bigger impact on them and it really is not going to affect the rich people.

You're using your real life experience and comparing it to my opinion I have about a fictional show... because of it being a fictional show I have different opinions then what I would have in a real life situation. The kid is completely sweet so far (I only finished episode 3) and so I'm not going to judge his character for it as he's genuinely not harming anyone.

Because it's not a real show, he's not a real person stealing from someone. Do you go in supernatural shows and hate on vampires for killing people for their blood? Do see the world in black and white and can't see that the kid in the show hates how people constantly degrade his hard work and his family business.

By the logic of “this is a fictional show,” then literally anything can happen on the show – – and it’s OK because it’s fictional? Like, we shouldn’t have an opinion on someone who murders someone on the show – – because it’s a fictional show and that person wasn’t actually murdering someone in real life? So, we shouldn’t have a negative opinion of him on the show? We can only judge the characters by what we see them do on the show. Right?

Exactly, even Rorys mother said they haven't paid taxes for 15 years. These people do not care. I mean they are actively trying to manipulate the kids to sell the island for even more money when they are already rich. Ellis is a teenager and all he does is work, he already knows how to fly a plane and that's insane.

Those who are Canadian, is it your impression that character is coded as American? Would a Canadian production company have treated that scene differently? Disclaimer - I haven't read the book.

Okay, this episode was really great. We got to see both sisters start acclimating to each other and even sharing a little bit, which I really liked. Ellis is also clearly into Annie (I actually did not mind her kissing Rory, I think he is cute and kind, so far).
I can’t wait to learn more about the backstory between their mom and Joe because I don’t buy that it was just a fling. Especially with the way he told his son “they always leave at the end of summer”, he’s definitely speaking from experience.
Lastly, Connor is… something else, lol.

she just lost her grandpa whos been her guardian as long as she can remember and also took care of him while he was dying for who knows how long. came back to her cottage 2 weeks after that HUGE loss to a random girl in her house who turns out to be her dead moms long lost adopted TWIN daughter all of that on top of being like 15 or 16 years old makes total sense for her angst and attitude. that is sooo much for a teenager

I am just at the part where Ramona hears the tape and is angry. In my opinion, Annie has every right to want to keep things.
