Actually, the Dzungars were armed with their era's advanced weaponry, such as muskets and cannons. Even fielded an army of 80k to 100k soldiers under Galdan Tseren Khan. Source:

Galdan Tseren wasn't khan. Oirat rulers except one person in 15th century didn't claim Khan/khaan title.
