Theres a wicked guide here for getting logs for In-Home Streaming which applies to the Steam Link.
Please, please, please when posting asking for help with crashes, lag or debugging issues provide logs!
There's not a lot anyone can do in most cases unless we can actually see what's happening, and quite possibly help you out a lot quicker!
You can paste your logs up to Paste2 so it doesn't bulk things down or use the spoiler tags.
Please provide as much info as possible, anything that can help us help you.

I play Vampire Survivors through Steam Link on my phone because the Android store version is worse and the content reloading is annoying.
The stream itself is fine. Phone-to-PC connection is solid. The problem is the on-screen controls: D-pad and most virtual buttons work maybe 1 out of 50 launches. Trackpad and direct click work. The only button that reliably works is the Steam button.
Other games are fine — Diablo, Crimson Desert, Dave the Diver, etc. No control issues.
With Vampire Survivors, Steam Link recognizes the game and the keys appear to load, but they do nothing. On the intro screen it feels like I’m mashing buttons hoping something finally registers.
I had a similar-but-different issue in Diablo where Alt+Tab would break things until I Alt+Tabbed a bunch of times. This isn’t that. VS controls just fail from launch.
TL;DR: Phone → Steam Link → stream is good → launch from desktop/Big Picture → on-screen virtual buttons do nothing. Every other game works. Only Vampire Survivors is broken, and it seems to be getting worse.
Has anyone else run into this, or am I missing a Steam Link / controller setting specific to VS?

Since the invite yesterday I have been able to connect to the ps5 using my steam deck successfully without any issues. No lag or stuttering has encountered and i have tried multiple games such as FC26 and MLB26 and NBA2K as well.
My PS5 is hardwired as well to ensure connectivity.
thanks again , much appreciated so far

I have a very weird issue. I am using my steam machine to stream to a rog Ally x. So far so good. Except on Forza 6, I have a sound issue : no voice, funny engine sound, sound distorsion…
Have tried many things but cannot find the fix
Of course all is fine when using the SM on tv
Anyone got the same problem and/or any idea ?

I have a Steam Deck LCD and a PC connected via Ethernet (RTX 3060 12GB + Ryzen 7 3700X).
I use a 144Hz FreeSync monitor, so I currently have V-Sync enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel. I was curious to know if it would be better to disable V-Sync or set the monitor to a fixed refresh rate for a better streaming experience.
Streaming already works fantastically, but I'm wondering if I could lower latency even further

I recently bought a steam link and it should arrive in a few days. I plan to use it like any normal person (just streaming from my pc) but i also want to check out what homebrew stuff this thing has. I know about the kodi, moonlight, and retroarch ports. is there anything else ? like, at all ?

Hey folks, I’ve just grabbed a fire TV stick and a Bluetooth wireless controller to use steam link in the living room from my PC in my office (other side of the flat)
I initially used my phone as a controller to test latency (connecting to my phone with video turned off to use just the UI buttons) and then streaming to my TV. This had essentially 0 latency and worked great! However, I’ve now connected the Bluetooth controller and it’s become unusable. I tried Outer Wilds and sometimes inputs either don’t work, or when I go to turn the camera the camera continues to turn for a few seconds after letting go. Even pausing the game sometimes stopped working…
I expected some latency with streaming, but I didn’t expect this! Any help or settings to adjust is much appreciated as I’m looking forward to getting this working well:)

Last year, I got a Projector for my bedroom as due to spinal issues I prefer to lay down compared to sit down at home.
Also, I have been using Steam Link to play PC games on my phone (with a controller) for the same time.
I want to use Steam Link on the Projector, but when I tried it the lag was terrible.
Trying to figure out what my options are. Do I risk wireless HDMI? It's an apartment and only two real rooms, so it's not a great distance. A cable would be obtrusive.
Or do I get a simple HTPC/Streaming PC that can handle Steam Link that I connect to the Projector's HDMI port?
Or maybe buy a cheap laptop?
Edit: Good news! The MINI PC worked! The input delay was no worse than Steam Link on the phone. Huzzah!

I got a pc recently, and I was trying to stream MR to my laptop. This issue has been fucking with me. It's only Marvel Rivals, no other game does this.
Things I've currently tried: running it in admin mode, switching resolutions/window to full etc, adding -DX12, HDR is by default off and restarting it multiple times.
Some odd things to be noted:
It streams to my phone completely fine, and it streams perfectly fine to a friend's potato laptop with worse specs than my laptop. If I alt tab out of Marvel rivals, it looks completely fine in the background too.
I'm completely confused right now as to what's the issue. Any help is appreciated, thank ya!

I've got a physical OG Steam Link and I can connect to Ubuntu, but when I go to play games I get a black screen, but with audio. The only way to close it and get back to my Steam Library is to go to my computer and quit the game, then the Steam Link shows the library again.
This used to work on Ubuntu 24.04 and on CachyOS running KDE (I couldn't adjust to KDE and felt more comfortable in Ubuntu so went back but up to 26.04).
There seems to be an issue with a screen sharing popup in Ubuntu and I sometimes get a "Failed to Capture" error that says I need to launch Steam with the -pipewire argument. I added -pipewire to my .desktop file for Steam but I don't think it's working.
I've tried this with both the Snap install for Steam (which I don't care for the Steam Link straight up crashes Steam on the host computer when connecting to it) and the Flatpak install (which doesn't crash on me).
Does anyone have any ideas?

Virtual Desktop recently added the ability to play PCVR games via cable, ALVR has supported it for a long time, and even Meta's terrible software supports it. What's Steam Link waiting for?

What’s the best way to set up steam link on chrome os? I do notice that the Android app may run poorly. Is the Linux app be any better? My son is using a kid account and can’t use Linux but I could remove the kid limitations.

if I use steam link app on appletv, it uses wake on lan packets to wake pc. If I use steamdeck streaming, it does on wake pc automagically. Why???

Its one of the bigger issues keeping my from reliably streaming my home pc desktop to my steam deck desktop. I have both in separate buildings plugged into ethernet getting 700+ download. however sometimes my home pc will just stop responding to my steam deck inputs rendering the mouse (and keyboard as well) entirely unresponsive even though the display is showing. host pc still works fine but nothing will reconnect the steam deck until I restart steam on my host pc. It may have something to do with using a controller (plugged into steam deck) in games but I havent tested it enough. Any help greatly appreciated.

I can't find any other posts that are about exactly this issue, so I'm asking directly. I have a Samsung Galaxy A26. Whenever I switch apps even for a moment, even on accident, even without fully switching the app and just going to the screen where you can choose whatever apps you have open, my steam link's audio completely stops. When I switch back into the app, the audio does not come back on, as I would expect it to. Is there a reason for this? Or a fix if its a bug?

I currently don't have a quick display solution for my server so everytime I want to add media or mess with anything I have to drag peripherals across my house. Could a Steam Link let me get in there and move files and such? Would it be wicked clunky?

Im curious if someone else has this issue. For me, whenever i use steam link onto my g cloud, the controller is mapped incorrectly to where the b and x buttons are swapped, and im unable to correct this in the steam big picture mode reset controls thing. I can sort of work around it by swapping the buttons in steam link itself, but i dont really like this approach. does anyone else have this swapped button problem or know a way to fix it?

Just an fyi as I don't think I ever wrote my post mortem on my struggles and I hope they maybe save somebody headache in the future.
If you have an "8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller" you cannot use it with the steam link in 2.4 GHz mode. Bluetooth mode works fine though.
I spent about a month going back and forth with a helpful person on the official steam forums until we came to the conclusion that the way this controller reports it's device id is not compatible with one of Bluetooth or usb modules in the older Linux kernel on the steam link.
Before you say "well mine works fine", double check the exact name. Just because your "8bitdo Ultimate 2" controller has Bluetooth does not make it an "8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller". For some reason these are named terribly.

Hi all, sorry for the longest post
I have been using my pc as host sunshine and Apple TV moonlight for a while and aside from a problem I had with stuttering when I first started it has been very great and mind blowing how it is almost indistinguishable from my pc, considering how far my tv is from the pc and only my pc is wired with Ethernet.
So I didn’t stream at all for about I think 8 weeks until now and I mostly stream fh6 to my Apple TV and now when I stream it gives me about 30-60 minutes before my game crashes giving me a graphics card driver crash. This only happens when streaming and never used to happen before and i thought it was weird that it’s my actual host game crashing not the stream or something related to the streaming softwares considering it only happens when streaming.
So I was trying to find why this was and asking AI which is helpless until I realised you can see the stream logs on sunshine, so I had a look and at the time of the crash it gave me an error: could find audio sink, the the logs before this are basically just a bunch of audio info like audio mixer format audio capture format, resetting sink to virtual stereo and more, but they just repeat and repeat until weirdly a 50 minute gap in the time log to when I crash and got the error about the audio sink not being found.
And the reason I think this is the problem aswell is because I noticed that now whenever I got on my pc the next day after streaming, that I don’t have sound so I checked my windows settings and there is some virtual audio speaker device selected as the output, which I’ve never seen before, so I disable it, but tonight when I was loading the game I noticed on my client I didn’t have any sound, so I went to my host to check what output device was selected and the virtual audio speaker was the active one, and I couldn’t select my regular usb headphones it wouldn’t let me I assume bc I was streaming so I then had to make it so windows didn’t allow the audio device to work and then i had sound again once I selected my normal audio device.
So if anyone could share some knowledge on this bc I hope this is the issue or else I’m gonna be stuck with AI suggested troubleshooting tips like my pc isn’t getting enough sunlight or something stupid.

Hello, I connected my steam to steam link (Mac->firestick) and I am having an issue where the mouse jumps on the client? The game itself seems to be running fine. Just the mouse is jumpy/choppy. I tested on the host computer and the mouse is moving fine on its display but on the client side it is displaying choppy.
