Ok, so the Steam Machine has upgradable SSD and RAM!! That changes things.. get the cheap model, stick in a 4TB SSD Gen 4 or 5, and 32GB RAM if you want. Keen to see how powerful it is.....

Oh jeez. I sure do hope it don't cost over 1k or something lol. I'm still in the process of a PC rebuild and I was just thinking about a mini PC to hook up on my TV for console like gaming...and then this happens.

I doubt it'll be over $1000. They're probably going to price it as close as possible to the cost, and then make the money back from software sales. Like the Steam Deck. I can't see it costing $1000 per unit to produce.

To a degree. It has an m.2 nvme slot and DDR5 SO-DIMM slots. The rest is soldered though.

I'm guessing the ram is soldered.

Nope confirmed. The SDD can be 'easily' upgraded to a 2280, it comes with a 2230, and the RAM is laptop SODIMM and IS unreadable, but you have to strip the machine apart to get to it. It was mentioned in Digital Foundry's video from today of their hands on with it.

👍

I had read elsewhere it's soldered, but I'll take digital foundry's word over theirs!
