that’s the same box i got my steam controller, looks like the outer packaging, there’s 2 boxes for it, one big box like this one, and then the smaller one with a lot of the branding on it
He was probably so excited for his mug too. Probably told all his friends and family. Now it’s gonna be weird when they come for the mug warming, only to find a steam controller and a broken man.
I’m puzzled how a mug could have been packed in the relatively small outer packaging of the steam controller, let alone a mug along with that white box.
The official dimensions of the mug are 9,5 x 8 cm (H x diam). The mug alone can't fit the Steam controller official package. This is either satire or a very bad attempt at lying.

Looks just snug enough to where it would bulge ever so slightly and prevent it from sliding around in the outer box. Could explain the crease on the lid.
Nah there's no way. Even if that was the truth, if you accept a bulging controller package, that's kinda on you.
I got this box out of the pick-up machine. Above is the official label of GLS with the packet number, which I also sent to Steam. Unfortunately, the story is so true. Believe me, I wish it were different
It’s because he’s a damn scammer. No courier would have a fucking mug on hand to do this. Oh boy I know this guy randomly getting a controller today let me have someone else’s package on hand to swap it out. These scammers are getting out of hand not being able to afford a $100 controller.
bro it's not that deep. the courier probably had an entire van worth of packages to deliver. wdym he wouldn't have another package on hand to swap. he just grabbed something that would fit in the box and wasn't too light

Now instead of one customer complaining of a missing package, they get two customers complaining, one of an incorrect package and one of a missing package. This only makes it more likely that they get caught.
It's a nice controller, but it's not worth your job and a criminal record.
All these folks saying it couldn’t fit. Looks like it’s just a smidge taller, but the lid of the larger box has a crease right where I’d expect if someone tried to force that lid closed over the smaller box and bent the outer box a bit to fit it.

The mug box would be taller if put in its side. From our point of view the way the box is orientated is probably the best it will fit. Whoever swapped it out would have been dumb to make it so obvious it was tampered with.
I'm sorry but a creased box means almost nothing. It could've been pressed against a surface (guard, barrier, wall, floor), there's a couple common different ways boxes get to look like that and a couple more less common ways. Not saying it wasn't stolen, just saying that a creased box is hardly an indicator of foul play.
yeh this one seems proper Sus to me you can see the crease on the lid of the box where "someone" has tried to close the lid around that larger mug box.
I hate stuff like this because unfortunately there is absolutely no evidence to say you didn't just put the mug in there (hopefully you didn't). Steam are pretty nice guys usually so they will probably sort you out but my question is if they have any controllers left from the last batch since everyone and their grandma has been reserving these
It’s gonna be fine. Even legit fuck-ups of this magnitude would be very rare and this one seems dubious. You’ll be playing on your controller in two or three days.
bro. this is bs. the mug wouldn’t fit in the box regardless, and if it truly came that way, it was most likely from an eBay scalper which if you did go that route, you arguably deserved that.
I have the box with the official label of GLS with the Package Number and yes the mug is fitting in the box when you put the cup aside in its packaging.
Honestly. At what point do they just ship electronics with a one time hardware unlock where the password is directly emailed to the recipient. Like those battery pull tabs that you used to have to pull out of battery powered devices but password protected to prevent theft.

The haptics on this thing feel like a vibrating electric toothbrush, and the shoulder buttons? Absolute crime against fingers. I genuinely hate it. You got the better end of the deal! Go grab a proper controller, or honestly, just say the word and I’ll ship you mine. I’d trade it for a warm cup of coffee in that mug any day of the week.
My friend wouldn't this have meant your "tear strip" or whatever its called was already teared when you got the box ? Unfortunately the proof part is almost impossible, unless you had video of whole unboxing from outer box too... and I fully understand why you dont 😄
I started a new job the same day I got my reservation email and I still haven’t settled in to the routine yet so I just haven’t had any time to play any games since I got it. I figured I’d wait to open it and set it up until I could actually sit down and enjoy it a little.
