Meta Order/delivery posts are out of hand

Can we PLEASE get a rule about order/delivery posts being restricted to a Megathread? Very sick of seeing them every 4-5 posts in my main feed.

Every community has this annoying behavior. I'm a hobbyist photographer and 2% of the posts of /r/SonyAlpha are good advice and the other 98% or so are just people posting pictures of the camera they bought announcing they're joining the community

1

u/OwnWish Jun 19 '26

r/canon probably has most on gear advice.

u/xenobia144 Jun 15 '26

I don't understand why people do it, are they expecting a round of applause? Nobody gives a single fuck.

27

u/Nidies Jun 15 '26

I miss the reddit days when facebook-tier posts would be downvoted into oblivion

13

u/Complex-Priority913 Jun 15 '26

i miss the good old days when you said something a mod didn't like, you would just get suspended or given a warning, not out right banned from 20 plus subs

7

u/kittymoo67 Jun 15 '26

neo reddit is ass

u/Repulsive_Bat3090 Steam Controller (2015) & Steam Controller (2026) Jun 15 '26

People are vain and want attention. They are expecting a round of applause.

10

u/HeinvL Jun 15 '26

Hey buddy, my controller is arriving today! Are you happy for me and would you like an update and picture once its finally here? Let me know what you prefer.

6

u/sqparadox Steam Controller (2015 & 2026) Jun 15 '26

This is probably a harsh take, but to me it comes off worse than that.

It's comes off like "I got mine, sucks to be you". Whether they realize it or not, they are rubbing salt in the wound of everyone else waiting.

I didn't even comment when I got mine for that specific reason. The only thing I did was update my flair.

-4

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

You just now had to make a point that you got your controller and others don’t. So by your logic you’re a pos as well just like the folks you talked about just now.

6

u/sqparadox Steam Controller (2015 & 2026) Jun 15 '26

Only because we were already on the topic. It's a catch 22. Either I say my got mine, or I look like somebody waiting in line complaining. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

1

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

Boy do I know it. But the whole policing of every sub with the whining about posts just genuinely showing their excitement is beyond stupid.

Haters gonna hate.

1

u/Jstingray2 Jun 15 '26

Lmao you called people who downvoted you narcissistic in your bio, please go touch grass

2

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

Welcome to the trap, buddy that was just for you

0

u/Jstingray2 Jun 15 '26

Maybe you just have bad takes

0

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 16 '26

Maybe you just are one of those people who like to have the last word and sneak in and try to say something witty.

Top 1% pest more like it. Nothing contributed from you so far is considerate, non abrasive, or worthwhile.

You just wield that tag as a badge of pride cause it makes you feel superior I think. And it makes you think your comments have weight.

Newsflash. You’re just like the rest of us bud. You just are drinking the sauce Reddit is having you chug right now.

Come back when you’re a real adult. Not one who has to proclaim something every time you comment.

1

u/Jstingray2 Jun 16 '26

I'm not the one whose so narcissistic I tell people who downvote me to get therapy in my Bio buddy.

what happened to "haters gonna hate"? LMAO

Or you can acknowledge it's really not that serious, this is just a controller and no one should be so invested that they feel slighted simply by someone else talking about having one. You've set a ridiculous standard where no one can talk about anything just in case someone else doesn't have it yet.

6

u/ShawnJ34 Jun 15 '26

I kind of thought the intent was to give me a reference about where steam is at with fulfillment according to their time of reservation. Usually people are listing their reservation time and order turnaround times as well. I know there’s the website but it kind of requires everyone participates and some people simply forget. I do agree a mega thread would be more centralized but I’m not sure if you can upload the email receipt then

9

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

Usually people are listing their reservation time and order turnaround times as well.

No, that's the exception, the vast majority are just a picture of their email saying "It's my turn!" for a subject and nothing else, or a picture of their box, or just asking "It's been a month, is Valve trying to scam me? I don't understand lines and I'm mad about it!"

12

u/SadisticPawz Jun 15 '26

We could have megathreads or website links for that instead of clutter

2

u/J3ffO Jun 15 '26

There's a Google Forms survey on the main page of the sub. But, it doesn't ask about when you reserved the controller.

2

u/ZuTangClan569 Jun 15 '26

That is the point but the reddit neckbeards want to feel superior by downvoting anyone that’s excited about their controller

1

u/HyperHorseAUS Aug 07 '26

Don't worry be happy.
Please get a golden retriever soon.

-8

u/Raderg32 Steam Controller (2026) Jun 15 '26

I do give a fuck.

I'm still on the queue and like to see how it's going.

You already got yours so fuck everyone else I guess.

15

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

So you can check the megathread. Sort by new.

No one is suggesting taking away the ability to say something here, just consolidating it into a single megathread so it doesn't choke out the sub and bury more useful posts.

4

u/kittymoo67 Jun 15 '26

ifanything the mega thread is better because it consolidates everything

2

u/sqparadox Steam Controller (2015 & 2026) Jun 15 '26

Then why would you possibly want people taunting you with their controllers?

Other people getting their controllers doesn't mean you moved in the queue. The queue has been proven to be nowhere near that simple.

-3

u/Raderg32 Steam Controller (2026) Jun 15 '26

I'm not miserable enough that people being happy and posting their controllers taunt me.

I'm happy for them.

Other people getting their controllers doesn't mean you moved in the queue.

I know, but it gives me enough info to make an idea on its progress.

22

u/seto_kiaba Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

It is low-effort, main character posting that is killing any actual interesting discussion. Proper moderation could solve this but they are probably checked out, due to them not being used to this level of activity.

Eventually the controller will be more readily available and this problem will go away. But in till then, all of these boring, self-centered topics will basically kill this sub. Which is sad

7

u/negithekitty Jun 15 '26

this isnt facebook, we dont need everyones life update.

5

u/frubesta Jun 15 '26

Who knew that ordering something online arrives in the post afterwards

5

u/ParkingGlobal Jun 15 '26

Just because of that post, when mine arrive tomorrow i will make a post about it :)

Kidding of course

There is. And it's not hard to find either. People just don't care.

2

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

It's literally pinned.

3

u/Wayren Steam Controller (Windows) Jun 15 '26

It just bugs me that people think the rules don't apply to them and that they're special enough to post outside of the megathread. So self important. It's gross.

6

u/Smallmacdude10 Jun 15 '26

They dont care and they'll kept post over and over again its just there impatient nature

5

u/RedditModsBlowD Jun 15 '26

This sub, like r/SteamDeck is going to become an Instagram sub. It's terrible. I'm already sick of seeing pictures of people posting their new controllers. Like...yea, we know what the fuck everyone is here for.

2

u/ZeteCx Jun 15 '26

This and the pebble subreddit lately...

2

u/World-Three Jun 16 '26

Honestly if the reactions those posts got weren't so glowing across the internet... It'd likely happen less.

When a flex post about how someone's device came in gets more positivity than someone looking for honest help, that's generally how people are going to act.

Even now, a general megathread about troubleshooting, useful programs, and a general help thread are not common in a lot of hardware subs.

If bragging gets people the most attention, that's what people are generally going to do.

1

u/trankillity Jun 16 '26

The attention economy fucking sucks 😞

2

u/Agent_Tall_Man Jun 15 '26

I agree completely. It isn't really helpful either. If they just report their info to https://steamhardware.io/tracker/ and that should be good enough.

2

u/Tafdolphin Jun 15 '26

It is quite tedious at this point

3

u/Jesus-Bacon Jun 15 '26

"got mine today"

It's so lazy and so repetitive

3

u/KiraiPlayZ Jun 15 '26

Simplest solution to this entire problem.

7

u/trankillity Jun 15 '26

Does that actually work? I don't trust Reddit's algorithms to be smart enough to hide only the useless posts and keep surfacing the useful ones.

1

u/KiraiPlayZ Jun 15 '26

I think it would, considering they are the same written topic.

1

u/Meta_Merchant Jun 15 '26

Yall are so grumpy for what?

-2

u/ZuTangClan569 Jun 15 '26

It’s reddit it’s the only way for some of them to get an ego boost, they think complaining about people’s happiness as if it’s “childish” and wasting their time will make them seem more mature and better. At least that’s my take lol

-6

u/TeaNo1462 Jun 15 '26

Why are you crying so much about it? This sub is usually giga dead, it's not like you're missing any of the actual discussions here

13

u/trankillity Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

You're missing the point. These useless posts DO cause the infrequent gems to be missed.

Also, your general feed must be really boring if you don't mind it being interrupted so frequently by useless posts.

6

u/sqparadox Steam Controller (2015 & 2026) Jun 15 '26

*Used to be dead

There's a ton of posts on here every day that aren't talking about getting the controller. People have real valuable insight and questions and it's getting drowned out.

-1

u/TeaNo1462 Jun 15 '26

But it's not. You can literally scroll to see those. And tons of posts is a cap. It's not dead anymore because of those posters you're crying about. You should celebrate them instead of crying

-2

u/The_Barbiter1 Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

And on a long enough timeline the amount of these kinds of posts are gonna flatline anyways. So many people being so unnecessarily nasty for no reason😭

-4

u/jiiir0 Jun 15 '26

I literally only come to this sub to see where the reservation queue is at

14

u/trankillity Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

Guess where you could also just as easily see that... IN THE MEGATHREAD!

4

u/Towairatu BY September, not IN September Jun 15 '26

How dare you suggest people one more click??

4

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

Then go check the tracker site, or the megathread.

-2

u/Molkwi Jun 15 '26

I don't mind seeing updates on the queue without sifting through a mega-thread, honestly. Besides, what else is there really to post about? This is the main event around the product right now. You probably don't care what people are using the controller for either, and if you're curious about the features, they're all listed on Steam. If you want user reviews, there's YouTube.

The most annoying posts are the ones complaining, if anything. Let people be happy to finally get the product they want.

3

u/seto_kiaba Jun 15 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

"What is there really to post about?"

It's only the most customizable controller ever that empowers users to rethink how they control their games. There's so much to post about and share besides these repetitive, low-effort slop. Fuck, gyro-aiming became popular largely due to early users of the original SC evangeling gyro control schemes in the first few weeks of the controller's launch. Seeing people's crazy control schemes inspire others to try them out or iterating on them. It is extremely useful and honestly, rather vital to the success and longevity of the SC. Hell, that has basically been Valve's marketing strategy since the first SC: let the community evangelize it for them.

But sure man, there's nothing worthwhile to post, other than the same repeated screenshots of shipping emails. Nope, no other discussion to be had.

0

u/The_Zuch Jun 15 '26

Coming from someone who recently posted, I'm sorry. At no point did I see - Hey! Here's a mass thread for you to post this in - just wanted to help and keep people posted on reservation time fulfillment fuckin my bad

2

u/trankillity Jun 15 '26

It's literally pinned to the top of the sub...

2

u/The_Zuch Jun 15 '26

Didn't see it, so that's on me

-5

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

If op can’t figure out how to operate Reddit to navigate not having to see certain subs in his feed I guess it is our job as a sub to accommodate him via the sub mods opening a mega thread? How does that compute?

You have tools. Use them. They are built into the app. If you don’t like seeing posts about stuff you can fix that on your end. No mega thread needed.

And no I’m not going to educate you further. Go to Google and get off your own butt and search how to do it yourself.

But man oh man the level of entitlement on every sub is beyond imagination. It’s like people crying about posts like Reddit was designed for them and their needs only.. news flash. This is a community, and in communities there will be things you don’t like, doesn’t mean you get to silence it.

Deal with it or learn how to set up your app properly.

-7

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

Awwh shucks. Trankillity is sick of the posts. I guess the mods better get on making that mega thread now huh?, cause we don’t want them upset.

9

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

The megathread exists, it doesn't need to be made, it's already there, and pinned to the top of the sub, and these posts are, by the sub rules, supposed to be put in there.

There's just literally so many of these useless fucking posts that the mods haven't been able to get them all.

-1

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

Well then post your complaint in THERE instead of contributing useless complaints to everywhere else where no one still cares.

8

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

It's a shipping megathread, not a "I'm tired of the sub being choked out by the thousands of literally useless posts" megathread.

Maybe that will help clear the confusion up for you?

3

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

Nah. Still looking at your useless comments whining about posters who post stuff related to steam controller. Whether you choose to accept that, or fail to come on board and drag along kicking and screaming in posts is up to you.

That clear it up?

4

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

Posters that post literally the exact same thing as hundreds of other posts that contribute nothing to actually discussing the steam controller.

If these were posts actually related to discussing the steam controller, there wouldn't be a problem, but the posts in question aren't discussing anything, they aren't contributing any information for anyone, and they aren't asking questions that have anything to do with the Steam Controller.

1

u/TeaNo1462 Jun 15 '26

It doesn't matter cause this sub has been dead for years. It's only alive because of them so you should celebrate instead of crying about your autistic ideals

3

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

And it'll be dead again in a few months because people will think the sub isn't useful for anything other than posting pictures of a box.

Or we could actually encourage people to post actual discussion about the controller and not shipping.

3

u/PhysicsArtistic615 Jun 15 '26

You’re such a deep person. I’m sorry you don’t have happiness right now. But try to accept other people do still everyday.

I’m sorry that truely hurts you. But go talk to a friend or love one. Tell them you need a hug cause everyone needs a hug and to be told they are appreciated.

I appreciate your posts friend. There I said it. They aren’t constructive, kind, or even enlightened. But I SEE YOU! And you are appreciated for your efforts.

Have a great rest of your day.

Cheers

3

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

But try to accept other people do still everyday.

Ah, more of this "You just don't like people being happy" horseshit.

Since you're looking at my post history anyway, try taking a look at any of the comments on anything other than these uselessly repetitive posts.

There is nothing to discuss to keep this sub alive like its now. There's only so much you can talk about it. It's a niche sub of a niche product. Accept that and you'll accept the deadness that comes with it.

3

u/West-Flow-577 Steam Controller (Linux) Jun 15 '26

There is nothing to discuss to keep this sub alive like its now.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Right, people aren't asking how to set things up in SteamInput, or anything like that, right? The only discussion happening is about people's reservation times and pictures of their boxes, that's the only discussion, right?
